I haven’t lost anything. I just enjoy arguing with a fella that’s so confident in everything he says, makes every situation about himself, despite being wrong 99% of the time. My favourites are Zinckernagel and Sallai — especially those heat maps, they were glorious
Doesn't stop others contributing about a player who has one good season in League 2, we may not have been interested in and because of that the hierarchy are getting stick. Classic Watford quoted by one poster
The hierarchy will continue to get stick until they make amends for the sh!tshow last season. They've hired Edwards which is a positive but it'll mean nothing if we serve him up with an absolute turd of a squad come the end of August. Something I'm fully expecting.
Sure, but I'd suspect they've watched a lot more of him over the season than either of us. The point I pulled you up on which was clearly mistaken was your specific claim that he is "not a wing back". Had you just said that he's a wing back who might not be ideally suited to Edwards' style then you may have potentially had some merit (albeit it seems both Edwards and Ebosele's styles are capable of developing and adapting a bit). A lot of the points you've subsequently made to try and support your statement were also more along the lines of him seeming to lack an end product or simply not be very good. Again, both those things are not the same as him not being a player who is comfortable in that position. A player in the Conference who likes playing wing back is still a wing back, even if he's not a very good one. Also, a player who lacks end product also would be as ineffective as a winger as a wing back. A player I've often seen Ebosele compared to is Adama Traore. Traore may be a player who is mostly a ball carrier and lacks end product, but that is true whether he plays as either a wing back or a winger - but it doesn't stop them being the positions he plays in (and anyway, Ebosele supposedly has shown signs of improving his end product and has also done well at RB, I don't think Traore has ever played RB).
That's part of my point. This is a thread about a League 2 right back that we are not signing. The hierarchy fully deserve the stick they get but not about this player surely
No manager in England has seemed to think him capable of playing as a winger at this level - which supports what I had been saying in thinking he lacks the pace to play in that position. He's been playing on the right for Freiburg this season (in line with my opinion), not the left. But it's good to know that your "favourites" are occasions many years ago when I was also shown to be correct.
Fortunately no other clubs are looking to recruit any players this summer so any reasonable looking prospect who is available and doesn't sign for us just goes to show how incompetent we are at getting any deals over the line. > 30 decent players available for loans/sale have already been quoted by our forum researchers, and despite the window being open for hours now, no new signings. FFS Gino !
Yes. You were correct, you’re always right — despite the lorry load of evidence to suggest otherwise; you’re 100% factual on everything
I've not said that either, but on the things you've tried to pull me up on my points have definitely tended to have been more accurate.
Yeah I'm more annoyed at us not signing John Swift for instance. But again without knowing which players we'll end up with in his position it's not necessarily a disaster.
As acknowledged in UEA's follow up post, in Edwards' recent interviews he does specifically state that he's aware he'll need to be a bit adaptable to the different qualities and preferences of the players he has at his disposal here. I do very much anticipate that he'll play 3 at the back again next season, and Leventhal also stated that it's expected to be the case, but some of the details and style beyond that could change a bit.
Having his medical with Bristol City. I'm sure we could still tempt him, when do you get the chance to play alongside the Nigeria captain?
You're right. Apparently knows every player in every league by heart. Must have more tapes in his basement than Marcelo Bielsa.
Well done Gino and Fuxbury. Ideal signing for us and the new manager. Young player, great promise, suits the tactics of the new manager. Doesn't cost a transfer fee and yes we miss out unsurprisingly with the buffoons in charge. Probably looking at some thirty year old or more over the hill dross from serie B or Belgium again. Absolute disgrace again. I expect he would have been delighted to work with his manager again.
This is basically Schrodinger's transfer - we categorically won't be able to assess it until our right back business takes place, or the opportunity for it disappears. As it is, it represents something that would have been an easy signpost for some of the brand spanking new learned lessons 2.0 and show that they are actually taking place, so, from the outside, it's fairly natural to look at it and think that the failure to complete it hints at the possibility (with the weight of years of evidence now behind it) that we're actually operating in the same way once again. Of course, we may have a better plan and be working on securing a deal that will serve us even more advantageously - we can't know. But It's not even cynicism at this point to at least question this deal not happening, given the context. It's merely recognising a historic pattern, and the weight of evidence. It's up to the Stability to demonstrate that they have changed, not us to automatically give them the benefit of the doubt for the umpteenth supposed time. I'm interested to see what does come in this position. We can all look back in a month or two's time and judge definitively. Myself, I'm not holding my breath, although I do retain some blind, illogical hope, as ever.
Come on. All we needed to stay up last season was a bit more BELIEF and for those pesky Nigerians to lift their CURSES on the club. A couple more wins and we’d have been right back in it. Pozzbury will surely deliver another A+ window, and before you know it, HMS PTL will be full steam ahead. Lessons have been learned. Gino and Scott do business properly.
He was never going to sign for us. You can understand it if he doesn't need to move house and Bristol City will be stronger than us next season. Doesn't bode well if our 1 out of 3 choice Manager can't get a former player to sign. Our reputation would not have help in any way. As Smudger had said, our on the books agent has some deadbeat lined up for a few million from the Kazakhstan 2nd Division.
Not an A+++? We won't get promoted with you spouting that kind of negativity. Support the club you purport to follow.
I reckon we can still get this deal done. If anyone can do it it'll be our dream team of Gino, Mogi, Scott and Cristiano.
Doubt it they finished 17th last season and have hardly brought any world beaters in. Also we still have Kiko on our books and is Kane Wilson really any better than Ngakia? Udinese also have two young right wing backs who are likely better than Wilson.
On Wilson I think he definitely definitely would have been worth a punt, especially on a free and with a manager that knows him, but I'm struggling to be *that* bothered about a right back only proven in League 2. Also agree with other posters that Ngakia would look mustard at that level. Probably even Masina would.
