Signed from newly promoted Stockport County. https://twitter.com/StockportCounty/status/1527197449793699845?s=20&t=ZU-0Q8W85BpsoO7s2M3tYg https://www.stockportcounty.com/def...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Director of Football Simon Wilson said: “It’s obviously always the Club’s intention to keep hold of our best young players coming through the academy, but at the same time we have always said to the players that if there is interest from clubs higher up where there is a genuine pathway for them to develop, and fair compensation is paid, then we wouldn’t stand in their way. I’d like to thank Watford for their conduct throughout the negotiation process; we of course wish Scott all the very best during his time there, and look forward to following the next steps in his football career.”
Seems he had been on trial at Sunderland in February but supposedly they turned down the chance to sign him. https://the72.co.uk/268638/sunderla...ning-stockport-county-defender-scott-holding/
But the club never take punts on cheap players from the lower leagues? I doubt the Pozzos even know that Stockport County exist!
They've got it all wrong. We need a holding midfielder.......he's a Holding defender!! I'll get my coat.
Not good enough to get in the Stockport team in the National League but ready to tear up the Champ next season after a few weeks of coaching by Edwards. Ready made Cathcart replacement. EDIT actually he did get in the Stockport first team "made his first-team debut for Stockport County in January 2022, starting in our Buildbase FA Trophy tie against Larkhall Athletic."
This is James Morris all over again, signed for the U23s but people will think he's for the first team.
Does seem strange. He was on trial at Sunderland but they didn't proceed with their interest. But reading what the Stockport fans say about him seems largely positive. Clearly NOT a first teamer yet, but is one who could develop into one. Pollock may not make it beyond League One, this lad may not either, but they are worth a punt if we're signing them on low fees. Lots of potential upside and these are the deals Watford should be making plenty of, provided they've been correctly scouted and accessed.
So it's Matthew Pollock all over again? Sign somebody from the lower divisions then loan him out for two seasons for "experience" while we have to contend with WTE or Masina at the back? Well, start as you mean to go on I guess.
More u23 fodder that is only signed to make up the numbers. He will be back playing in the national league after realizing we’ve signed him to clean Masina’s boots.
One of the great commentary myths that’s developed over the years. Was never actually said by Brian J.
Along with the additional "...and the wicket keeper's Knott". (Which wouldn't make sense anyway as he wouldn't have been keeping wicket for the Windies)
