He knows Kamara is coming back in and he looked pretty emotional at the end and made a concerted effort to get around the ground. He was garbage, yes. But he did keep a clean sheet!
Before the Edwards announcement, I did assume Masina would probably feature more next season, but if we're going down the 3 at the back route, it probably means he's out of the picture
Protecting 19th place to get that extra £1m prize money. Mogi has another 2-3 clients to offload to us for that money.
I liked the look of the young lad in midfield. Gosling I think is his name. Definitely one for the future
In SEJ, everyone was singing ‘we’ll get it back’ as if if the match was a scene from Waiting for Godot. If the 1881 were chanting ‘give it back’ like NEGATIVE NELLIES!!! then we showed them. #bleedYELLOW
Two absolutely shyte teams, but the effort levels of our reserves were a breath of fresh air compared to the wasters who have played most of this season.
I actually enjoyed that. “We got the ball, we lost the ball, we’ll get it back” Great chant and creates an atmosphere. We sung that at Southampton too and it worked. Roy was let off the hook. No booing. Thought Kabs, Ngakia, Pedro and Gosling played well. In fact Gosling was my MOTM shock horror. Kayembe and Kalu were poor. The rest were meh. Everton are so poor though. They just sat off us. We looked comfortable for the most part. We did nothing going forward but Everton rarely threatened. Their best chance came when Kalu gave them the ball and they were through. They should have scored from that but somehow missed. So we got a point. Roy will be delighted and has now something to build on going forward.
I was sat in the corner of the SEJ adjacent the away fans. Far more Everton fans than home fans. Mostly singing along with their songs and not keeping their heads down. No trouble though. Unless a few Hornets changed their allegiance during the game I do wonder how we allow this to happen.
Strangely impressed to discover we had gained a point as we had supper after our thrashing of Cumberland IIs. Nick wants to know when everyone is arriving for the BBQ. 16,000 sausages are waiting!
My review after first game in person this season. +Sissoko is a monster. Very good at what he does. Can't win you a game in his own. +Pedro is decent. +Ngakia still has potential. -The rest tried hard but no quality. -Can't believe we defended a point by swapping a winger for a CB when 0-0 at home. Joke. -Game could have gone on all night and we'd never have scored. At least we didn't spend £600m and end up as bad as Everton somehow manage to be.
The club don’t care, arse on seat makes it less embarrassing for them at first glance and an extra few quid per head in the ground.
Reminded me of when QPR won the league at ours a decade or so ago. All congregated in the LGT, and even then the club vociferously denied there were any QPR fans in the home end despite whole blocks being taken up.
The match I just watched was a Championship match in all but name. Top half of the Championship, maybe, but mostly not Premier League level. Everton perhaps should have won it but their self-confidence looks terrible. One top drawer save from Foster (keeping out Richarlison's effort) for those who think he's finished as a player. Watford would still not have scored if they'd played to midnight.
Also worth saying I’ve seen us play 3 times this season. All at home. Draw vs Newcastle. Win vs United. Draw vs Everton. Over the course of the season, that’s close to champions league form. Just shows what happens when we don’t just have a crowd of NEGATIVE NELLIES. #bePozzotive
Just seen the lowlights. I'm surprised they managed to pad it out to 5 mins. Woy nearly burst into laughter during his interview afterwards. His face does look kike a gnarled scrotum. Now we are relegated the MOTD pundits don't feel obliged to talk about us. We are now officially a non-team.
Missed the game because its a Tuesday at 2pm. How dod we get a point woth the worst starting XI all season???
As I watched last night I looked at our team and thought, this probably isn't too far off from being what we'll have in the Championship. It was a very bland side, with virtually no quality going forward. Our only bright spark was Pedro, but he was isolated and running down blind alleys mostly. But, there was an honesty and commitment to the display. That's really been missing from the majority of our performances. There were still silly mistakes, but this time were not punished, but there was also a willingness to run a little harder and to throw yourself in front of the ball to defend the goal. I saw Everton as a Championship side, on last night's performance. It's crazy how much talent they have, yet look no better than a Championship side themselves. So it was a glimpse into what it's going to be like next season. I can't see us scoring too many goals, therefore the defence is going to be vital, just the same as the last Championship campaign. Sure, we'll hopefully still have Pedro and can add Cucho to the mix. Zinckernagel and Hungo will hopefully add to the quality, but we do need a striker. Without Dennis, Sarr and even King, we're going to be very light in terms of goal threat. So if Duxbury's claim (see Sam Ucko) is correct, we're going to win the league, then we need a lot more from midfield and up front in order to do this. Personally I think we'll be well short this time for a top two slot, but of course a lot of that depends on who we keep, who we sign and how good Edwards really is.
I actually quite enjoyed it last night. It was like having that elderly relative who has been on the ropes for the last year of their life before finally submitting to death, which generates that weird feeling of relief that it is finally over. You go to the funeral and the pain subsides afterwards and you celebrate their life instead. Loved the 20 minute chant about having / losing / getting the ball back, that was genius. Looking forward to that one next season! Also looking forward to scoring a goal next season mind. Apart from that, Pedro deserves better than us and Masina is a joke. Everton are s**t and if they stay up I will put a tenner on Lampard to be sack first next season.
I know he had Capoue next to him while he was here which would make anyone look like a significantly better player because of his quality, but what on earth have they done to Doucoure?
