Have a few worries now about the official club merchandise face masks. Bought as novelty christmas items. Should have waited and got them in the January sale. Looks like all our Covid prevention measures are as leaky as the defence. Only Leeds United face masks appear to have more holes in them than ours.
I’ve been wondering about this. Normally, clubs can use as many under age players as they like to supplement the registered PL squad but the rule that they have to play if they have 13 available outfield players plus a goalkeeper surely cannot include all the youngsters. Otherwise all these games wouldn’t have been postponed.
Got to be a worry for West Ham, not that it'll be off if we're returning after isolation, but if weve had it, how many players will be 15% below normal standard?
I think I read that for an U23 to be included for these purposes they need to have made a first team game? Luckily our U23s are crap lol, Agyakwa, Crichlow, and who else have done so for us? Does Cassidy count having gone on loan to Accrington?
Well at least they told us in good time. I had the impression it would be off really. If West Ham does go ahead (which it probably won't), I cannot see us doing all that well. One upside to this is we are getting more time to get injured players back. downside is, as said above, our fixture overload is going to be tough.
Hopefully offset by West Ham having less than 48 hours turnaround. I remember when our Christmas fixture was postponed and we played title-chasing Cardiff who had played theirs. After about 60mins they were finished. Will Buckley had a blinder. We might be decimated though so I could be clutching at straws.
They wouldn't know this and quite frankly playing the blame game is stupid. Some people can't get vaccinated for medical reasons and allergies or whatever and people don't know the medical needs of players. I think that people need to be a bit more open minded when it comes to unvaccinated people.
Can't be coincidence that the only 2 postponed games were the only 2 scheduled to kick off at 12.30 ...... a 3pm start would have given players more time to shake off the symptoms .....
No doubt this and the other games will be bundled into January during AFCON and the rest phase for the players afterwards. May as well relegate us now and call off the rest of the season.
If our covid ravaged squad missing four players to AFCON can't cope with a fixture pile up in January then we don't deserve to stay up.
Great. Can now concentrate on the Ashes. Root says we can still win it... Hahahaha hahahaha... haha, argh ..
Scenes when Gino pulls off his dastardly plan to get as many games as possible postponed until January or later so that we can have the maximum amount of fixtures with our new players, only to bring in a three-stone-overweight full back who hasn't played in half a season and Steve Cook.
Unfortunately we might be forced to play those fixtures in January when we are very likely to be at our weakest with AFCON stealing a lot of our better players.
Looking at the bigger picture though, it’s a bit annoying that we’ve been denied a good chance to redeem ourselves after four straight defeats (especially after the debacle at Brentford) and now have to play six to seven games in a month.
Well it's been called off, so it's as things were. Not sure why people are happy about our games and others being called off with all this uncertainty about our survival prospects such a situation creates.
We'll give away the FA Cup by fielding a weak team. That will give us a free date, a fillip for Filbert and a chance to make amends for that Hogg-Deeney goal. If Knockaert had scored that pen everything would have been different for Leicester, so we certainly owe them some compensation.
The pl statement reads A Premier League statement read: "Watford continue to have an insufficient number of players to field a team after their game against Crystal Palace last Saturday was postponed following a Covid-19 outbreak. "Due to players coming out of isolation, it is fully expected Watford will be available for their fixture on Tuesday 28 December, against West Ham United." Is it just me or does it read as we think Watford are taking the piss and will play on Tuesday come what may.
Well if the circumstances are the same as they are now, then they won’t/can’t. We’d have every right to ask why they would call off our games but then demand we play if the situation is no better. But I do think we will be massively undercooked regardless…although Bachmann did say those who tested positive were asymptomatic so that’s something I guess.
Didn't we have the players coming into the country at the start of last season doing some basic stuff at Sopwell House? Not ideal of course, but I hope we've managed to have the lads doing some sort of training over this period
