The owners were staying up effortlessly year after year. They proved their methods worked just fine.

But as soon as they started showing loyalty to a manager who served up a world record cup final defeat, we were doomed. If they'd have sacked that grinning simpleton in the summer everything would still be rosy.

And they've made exactly the same mistake this year, showing loyalty to a footballing imbecile.

Just a shame we then wasted all that money earned later on on the Vialli era and with signings like Ellington under Aidy!

The grinning simpleton that took us to our highest ever position in The Premier league and managed to reach only our second ever major cup final. The reason we got relegated was not Javi's fault but because the owners didn't sell players, who then didn't really want to be at club and had lost their hunger and desire.

How dare they show loyalty to a footballing imbicile that has just got us promoted at his first attempt and has the bwst win percentage of any Watford manager ever.

Pep Guardiola couldn't keep us up with our squad.

Oh come on, the writing was on the wall for Gracia in advance of the cup final. He’d done very well that season for the main part but we were in free fall at the end of that season, were then utterly embarrassed with the world watching and chucked in a disastrous pre-season and he was fired soon after.

Was Gracia solely to blame? Of course not but to absolve the head coach of the blame for all of that is crazy. He picked the players, he set the tactics and he tailored the pre-season. He played as much a part in the downfall as the players. We were chasing our tails from game 1 of that season and were facing mission (near) impossible after 6 games. A half decent start is everything in this league and Gracia got us off to a disastrous one.

The owner should have seen the above happening by having his finger on the pulse of his club, the coach and the players. That’s his job. He acted far too late to a failing situation and then panicked and put in a terrible replacement.

I did really like Gracia but teams had very much figured out how to deal with Gracia's plan A and he had no plan B. I suspect we would have picked up more points had he stayed then bringing in Quique, but as Burnsy says, it was just a matter of time.

The board didn't help him out by spunking the entire budget on a player he plainly didn't want and who didn't suit his system, but once the board had done so, he simply had to adapt. The way he treated Sarr over those first few games was just asking to be sacked.

The board deserve a lot of the blame, but Gracia is certainly not blameless.

Reading Leventhal's Athletic piece, apparently there's a recall clause for January for both him and TDB. Don't see it being triggered in all fairness for Zinckernagel when you think about why he was let go on loan in the first place, maybe TDB is a different story

It could suggest one of two things. Either it's good planning from the club in case AFCON hits us hard or that we're going to go with the options we have, pray PZ and TDB have great first halves of the season so we can bring them back to try and breathe life into our motionless corpse of a midfield.

He's said this before. Only to advise that there is no recall clause when January rolls around.

There were plenty of posters furious that we didn't finish 7th and perform better in the final. No matter what we achieve as a club there will be plenty of posters believing we should be doing better.

Not sure it’s unreasonable to believe we could do better than 0-6 to be fair.

Disappointed that he didn't get a Prem chance. Seems more like his kind of league. A year at Notts should toughen him up a bit though, and then we'll have a quality player.

Another assist today against one of the better Championship teams. Sadly it was from a free kick though, so much like the Bradford assists it doesn't count.

Beyond the assist (set piece merchant) sounds like he was one of Forest's better players overall. Good signs, hope it continues

Of course. But that is banking the fact that we’d finished 11th and got to a final. For many that was a disappointing season rather than just a disappointing end to our most successful season for decades.

Yep, teams had sussed out his weird 4-2-2-2 well before the cup semi, which we only won because Nunoz cocked up with his over-cautious subs, a GD wonder goal & Denploncker's stupidity. The writing was on the wall well before the end of that season.
I'm not sure Gracia actually had much say in the opposition chosen for pre-season....that was all part of the hierarchy's 'moving up to the next level' delusion.

Was a nice hit, with his weak foot was about 25 yards out. Hit it hard and low clipping the inside post.

You can see him being dropped or asked to be less attacking though if Hughton reverts back to his usual defensive tactics to get results .

Phil is having terrible luck. He'll be devastated to find out that this goal doesn't actually count because Blackburn are only sixth in the league and the keeper should have done better.
