A rare occasion where it was prudent to offer a long term deal to an older player. Should get a couple mill in the summer
This one I am not too fussed about, good player at this level and an excellent professional I cant see his legs going. Ialso think other teams may actually be interested in him in the summer unfortunately Kiko will probably be aying in La Liga next year. Anyone know whether he will be back on Saturday?
Classy performance again last night. One of the highlights being his sudden stop on the ball and then nonchalantly reverse backheeling it to Sarr. He obviously has a weakness against big strong tall players played up against him but his interceptions, coverage and crossing have been excellent this season. If only we had a dynamic left back/wing combination we would be wreaking havoc. As it is sides do tend to focus defending their left flank but even so this particular duo are a wonderful combination. https://twitter.com/FIVE__YARDS/status/1367424061584920579
Kiko in trouble apparently for not leaving the pitch side when sent off. Given the circumstances a bit harsh ? Was the dressing room in that stand ?
Wouldn't be surprised if he went to the wrong place. Would have topped off a truly moronic afternoon for him.
Didn't the team have to get changed in the car park? And will there be any repercussions from this, he isn't going to have to face a longer ban is he?
Sometimes an extra match ban but not sure how the FA will view it. It’s hardly like he refused to leave the pitch itself and well he probably just went to sit in the stand as time was almost up.
Surprised he hasn't been lambasted for being a ****ing idiot to get sent off so stupidly, leaving us heavily weakened for Norwich. He can't defend and will need to be upgraded on if we manage to get promoted.
Great going forward, we even saw that at times in the Prem, but we can't afford someone who got roasted by Kazenga LuaLua if we go up ffs. He's only looked a halfway decent defender because the standard of some of the attackers in this league is horrendous, if we go up I'd rather take my chances on Ngakia who's been terribly unlucky not to have played more
Another no brainer for me and our POTS in my book, though he might get a run for his money from Ngakia next season.
I guess it’s easy to say now but seems Kiko is happy here https://mobile.twitter.com/WD18Fans/status/1392558776293675009
“He’s a footballer but he’s not a defender” will be ringing in our ears again for sure next season then.
Will be tough watching him defending against some quality pressure next season. His positional play and watching for those little balls in behind him will become a theme. Will be very different to this season where he could bomb forward and was under little pressure defensively.
For sure, it’s amazing how much faster he looked than most championship players too, which shows what a commodity pace is in the game, and the fact most of the relatively skilful pacey players will be a league higher. The reality is in the championship at least 80% of championship teams had almost zero attacking threat, whereas every PL team will have forward players that can hurt us.
I love Kiko, I think he's a great footballer. But what is the point in having a right back that has to be subbed every game?
Well, he's getting old, and injury prone (probably wasn't 100% fit having just come back from an injury last week), so while he is our best RB, it's not worth flogging him when we've got another RB who isn't that far behind him
He's a weak, soft, little div. Cannot stand the bloke. Looks good when we're playing absolute dross but when the chips are down this pathetic little runt is the first one to shirk it. Cannot stand him.
Started holding his hip and limping after about 20 minutes. I really think he just didn't fancy it which is inexcusable.
Of course he didn't fancy it. He only plays well when we're on song and playing a side where he can get forward. If he has to dig in and/or defend then he always has been and always will be a complete pussy who bottles it. It's hilarious to me that there are genuinely people on here in seem to enjoy slagging Ngakia but then show support for this little rat. Ngakia has shown more desire, heart and defensive abilities than Femenia almost every time he's pulled on the shirt. Not the finished article and has a lot to improve on himself, but at least he has that potential being so young and at least he won't completely piss his pants and hide every time things aren't going our way like this little pr*ck.
The only real reason to go with Kiko rather than Ngakia is his relationship with Sarr, but if you play Sarr centrally and give him very little service, it renders that irrelevant
Absolute head loss, this. Kiko is ineffective without the combination he has with Sarr. If the plan was to play Sarr up front we should have started with Ngakia, who looked good when he came on, albeit against a side very much coasting.
It's not an absolute head loss at all. Everyone knows I've held this opinion of Femenia for years now. Nothing's changed. He's a full back who can't defend at this level and who taps out when the going gets tough because he's completely and utterly spineless. He linked up well with Sarr in the league below, though. Fantastic.
Yes but usually your dislike of him is a little more measured. "Little rat" "Little pr*ck" "Pussy" "Little div" "Pathetic little runt" Those are pretty clear indicators of a post-game headloss. Happens to the best of us. Try to remember you've never met the bloke and focus your criticisms on his performances, because you made some fair points as usual on that front.
Ignoring the language used, I actually think Nath is right on this. He does have a habit of going missing at times and today was no exception. I do think he's a more press resistant option than Ngakia (Better dribbler and reliable passer but Ngakia takes more risks going forward and creates more issues. (More direct, less fearful on and off the ball) and of the two, I'd rather Ngakia currently.
I agree. I actually think a number of our players over the past few seasons haven't lacked ability (on paper) but have lacked the mental side of the game, with Kiko being one of those. We've had some spineless individuals over - would put Masina in there too - head drops far too easily
It’s incredible people were fooled by last season, he is, and always will be a terrible defender. Nuts to think simply playing a league lower for a season was a miracle cure, and that it wasn’t just the fact, you know… it was a league lower. The relationship with Sarr thing is also nonsense, yes it worked well last season against significantly poorer opposition when he didn’t have to worry about defending, but in the PL Sarr only plays well every 5 games, so the rest of the time Kiko is just a spineless liability who can’t even complete a match anymore.
