That was pretty emotional this morning but when they had Arlene Phillips (ambassador for the Alzheimer Society) on immediately afterward to discuss the effect of music upon dementia sufferers who could barely speak through her tears...

Gorillaz new album, not a classic. I'd say the Pink Phantom is my favourite song but I won't be clamouring to give it a listen.

I'm listening to it now, it's not an album that I would have picked had it not been for this thread, but I'm actually quite enjoying it. I wasn't sure about it at first, wasn't too keen on the experimental elements, but they've got some really good/interesting artists on it. Not many albums could have a collab with Elton John, Octavian, Kano and Slaves ha!

Two things I'm not particularly interested in - Eurovision & whatever universe X-Men inhabit - met head on after half-watching the Comedy Channel earlier.

The programme When Eurovision Goes Horribly Wrong was on in the background and whenever I see that contest mentioned my only interest is to look up the winner from 2000-something, Lena, and her song Satellite. I have a serious soft spot for her German accent and her... well, her.

This made me wonder what happened to Lena after her win (in 2010 it turns out). It seems she's doing okay and churning out some half decent modern pop. Not groundbreaking stuff but I was tapping my arthritic foot along to this one, Skinny Bitch, even with its autotune vocals.

I thought I'd look up some more of her recent stuff and it seems her Boundaries is the theme song to X Men: Dark Phoenix from last year. Huh. Who'd a thunk a Eurovision winner from a decade ago would be singing theme songs to Hollywood films.

That's quite some transformation! From girl-next-door coquettishness to a parallel universe inhabiting super-powered vixen, with a dig at the trolls in the media, both social and journalistic, in between. Nice. Now, what is Margaret Berger up to these days...

It would give me more time to devote towards Lena so, you know, it wouldn't altogether be a bad thing

I think I'm still drawn in by the line from Satellite where she's quite open about her new blue underwear. She's become an irrational like as the songs are nothing like my normal tastes and let's face it, living in a hollowed out tree during a pandemic will lead to some strange decisions.

One of my favourite albums when I was a teenager. Sweet melancholic voice of Hope Sandoval and simple repeating phrases that are calming and hypnotic. Echoes of the late sixties permeate the album along with many others making for an appealing aural experience.

Musical influences not the actual events. Anyway no decade is calm. There is always something happening on the globe.

Queen of Denmark by John Grant?

Feel like it would go down well and I personally think he’s a bit of a hidden gem.

I read earlier Taco Bell will be moving into the former The One Bell pub on Watford High Street. No details yet and to be honest I couldn't care less what business moves in there.

However, when I hear or read the name Taco Bell it always reminds me of this piece of nonsense by Electric Six.
I wonder if Deborah Meaden ever appeared in any other music promo's.
