I think if we have a chance to get his wages off the books we'd have to take it. Agree we are too thin for a promotion push now though unless we have a golden run with injuries which looks unlikely on evidence so far.

    another attention seeking headline.
if Friday is the transfer deadline ,potentially all the squads future will be decided on Friday.
media just using "troy-deeneys-watford-future-will-decided-friday" for maximum impact.

I didn’t think we needed any strikers and were working on a more defensive lineup

A sobering piece. I knew the bare bones of his story but not all that detail. He was clearly pretty messed up at the time of the affray incident. Good on him for speaking up about mental health - I hope it helps someone.

Talksport breakfast on Monday mornings too. Not a clever move really as that's as good as saying game over for the footie career.

The concern is that he's still courting controversy in public and it'll have a negative effect on the dressing room.

Unfortunately this will make it more difficult to sell him.
He's a man of the people who loves the sound of his own voice so the media career is bound to work out!

No I think his contract would have meant he needed the clubs permission.
Why should we worry about it.Very good player for us for a number of years, stayed too long and now has become something of a caricature.
Unfortunately we weren't able to offload him so this will help ease him out of the picture.

Next week Troy tells us when, during his 80 days in prison he once tarred the roof of a prison building, helped an obnoxious guard with his tax problems and sat back and drank ice cold suds with his fellow workers like free men

That's strange. I heard he was imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, to feed a suffering child. He got his yellow ticket of leave and went on to make 24601 appearances for Watford to make up for it.

I have no idea what that woman was singing about. Like literally, no idea. I don't know what a hollaback girl is, but I have to imagine it's a foul, disease ridden thing, that wears to much makeup to cover up the fact that it's a year old fish-dog.

Just heard a few clips, he’s just confirmed to the world he always puts penalties down the middle, so that’s the one benefit he had left to the club gone now.

In fairness it wasn’t the worst listen in the world, and it was lovely hearing Zola as a guest. Remains my favourite Head Coach under the Pozzo era and one of the great ‘if only’ moments that we never got to experience him leading us in the Prem.

There’s little doubt that Troy divides opinion as probably no other player has for us in the last few years. If you think he’s past it and a likely divisive influence at the club and should have left this past window, then naturally you’re going to feel annoyed that he’s so busy putting it out there when you’d rather he be concentrating on trying to get fit and score some goals. If you still remain a fan of his, mainly based it must be said on his great contributions in happier times, you probably just see it as a player nearing the end of his career trying to get as much work as he can in a media world that may be his main after-football employment. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

Two little nuggets I found interesting this morning. Firstly he indicated he was negotiating with the club to have his salary reduced. And secondly, and I’d forgotten he’d joined them this summer, but he credited some of Aston Villa’s brilliant start to the season to Craig Shakespeare, who (along with Pearson) he seemed to rate highly.

My guess is over the coming weeks we will learn more about our club this way than we did from that rather dull event on Monday night!
