The 17-year-old, who has represented Guinea at youth international level, will join the club on January 1, 2021 from Ceffomig FC. The Hornets have beaten a number of top European clubs to secure the signature of Touré, who joins on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
Perfect replacement - need someone for the Suarez role. We don't usually announce the loan farm players - so it is a little bit odd to do the photoshoot and everything.
Apparently top, top European club Granada were on his tail but switched targets at the last second and we’ve swooped in.
Looking forward to attempting to piece together the terms of the deal selling him to a middling European team in four years time after a couple of promising loan spells
I think this is the bloke seen in the training video a few days ago, that some people (including me) thought might be Sarr
I was thinking Pape Gueye myself. Or perhaps Mamadou Mbaye. If Cadiz get a transfer ban after all, if'll be down to our complaints.
Not entirely out of the blue. Reids said on a thread a couple of weeks ago we should be looking at Africa as a region of high interest and this fellas name was mentioned along with Ibrahim Sunusi, who DrewH posted was linked/back with Watford (on trial?) earlier today. They aren't the first young African players to be signed by the Pozzo's but with South America now being heavily invested in seemingly by all and sundry, maybe they'll be concentrating their efforts away from there and over in Africa instead. edit: Just had a look at Sunusi's transfermarkt page and his 18th birthday is on October 1st, supposedly. I wonder if he'll be announced on Thursday?
I found these goals he scored in an U17 tournament 3 years ago (making him 14 when he scored these!) - some nice finishes and some awful defending
Would be interested to see if anyone can find anything about big European clubs being interested? Or if it’s just bluster from the club.
He played at the U17 WC as a 14 year old and was top scorer of the U17 AFCON at the same age. After those tournaments he trialled at a few clubs including Dortmund where he actually ended up training with the first-team. Not sure what he has been doing since.
Was on trial at Dortmund and trained with the first team. foot224.co/2019/11/20/dortmund-a-lessai-djibril-fandje-toure-sentraine-avec-le-groupe-pro/ Also apparently Olympiakos and Bayern were interested.
We're now 1 more Touré away from being able to sing the Kolo/Yaya Touré chant. The other Touré will need to have a 2 syllable first name though. Get. It. Done.
Abdoulaye Toure from Nantes. It’s three syllables, but if we sing it fast enough, we can make it work.
40 seconds in he's doing the CR7 celebration after scoring a consolation goal in the 91st minute, with his team 3-1 down. Elite mentality.
He is represented by Football Manager legend Cherno Samba https://twitter.com/samgerfc/status/1310984839466811394
On the bright side If we were as financial ****ed as some people think we wouldn’t be buying players that won’t play for us (now off to take cover before the banter starts)
