Whatever your opinion of Doucoure was/is he's still a £35m rated midfielder who was sold for £20m.

You're definitely in the minority on here thinking that.

He was awful last season. £20-25m seems fair.

Kept speaking publicly about wanting to leave the club and was a disaster zone against Brighton and West Ham (own goal and penalty conceded) after we blocked his move to Everton last season. Despite being our most talented midfielder, he played worse than Hughes and Capoue last season. Couldnt get away quick enough once we were relegated. Empty, vacuous farewell to fans after leaving. Really glad to see the back of this caant.

Sounds about right. £25m then another £15m over 5 years on the never, never.

I don't think I'm in the minority in thinking £20m for Doucoure was too low. Many fans have also expressed that view.

Thankfully that guy talks poopoo. He tweets things like this all the time, then when it doesn’t happen, deletes his tweets in the hope that no-one took a screenshot. Amazingly people still think he’s ITK.

Which is a long time in football.

Values don't remain the same 12 months later if the player has been crap for 12 months.

Cracking business that for a player who's never played for us and in the last year of his contract.

‘Kept speaking publicly’ - he did it twice in his years with us and was clear that he had an agreement with the club as regards to leaving. Yet Sarr has said in his interview he would leave for EL/CL football but that’s different somehow even though he’s given us nowhere near as much service?

‘Was a disaster zone’ - so were the rest. So why is he singled out for having a sh*t attitude? Were the rest of the squad denied moves too in that case?

‘Most talented midfielder’ - Is he? Really?! Capoue is a superior player and Hughes also is arguably. It’s certainly not cut and dried.

‘Vacuous Farewell’ - ‘I would like to thanks @WatfordFC for giving me the opportunity to play and to be successful in the Premier League, I felt adopted by the fans from day one.Thank you for your support during these 4 years. I wish you the best and a speedy return to the Premier League’ 1234 #always
What more were you expecting him to say?

A personal opinion is fine but seems unfair to label the guy with having a ‘sh*t attitude’ when his was better than others and certainly no worse than anyone else’s.

He's gone 7/4 to 5/6 to sign for Liverpool now.

There's just no point in caring. It's happening, it's just a matter of when.

He didn't have his best season, but peddling "he's crap" doesn't cut it, as it's not true. Everton were still interested enough to sign him, and now he's an integral part of their new midfield trio. So who are the mugs in all this? Certainly not Everton. They got a bargain and we happily facilitated it.

I think his performance level dropping after we didnt sell him tells most of the story. Yeah, he turned up but I bet he raises his levels again this year.

But the teams performance level dropped as a whole. Singling him out seems a little unfair.

Last season we were also a Premier League club. This season you may have noted we are not. We could afford to turn down more than his worth last season, this season we can't afford to turn down an arguable amount below his value.

Are Madrid asking Spurs the same amount for Bale that they were offered 12 months ago by China?

You can refer to completely unrelated transfers all you want. We desperately needed the money and sold at a value that was below the expected fee for an experienced Premier League player with youth and potential still on his side. But to admit that we desperately needed cash points a finger at financial mismanagement so you don't want to suggest that.

Only no clubs offered anywhere near £35m.

So he wasn't worth that in this market after his recent form.

Mate, I don’t think he will stay, but bookies odds are nothing to go by.

Bournemouth seem to be making a good fist of getting a decent prices for their players. Brentford have not even been in the Premier League but still got £33m out of Villa for Watkins.

The fact we're no longer in the Premier League has little impact. It goes down to how tough you are at negotiating. For whatever reason, Watford are just rolling over.

He really wasn't and your about the only one who thinks he is. Dropping a division and Covid have not helped either but £20m-£25m was about right for a player who had not been great for 18 months or so. I actually thought his attitude was ok

    ...then you don't sell.

What if Everton had offered £15m or £10m....do we still sell because it's the only offer?

Depends on how much we need the cash, length of contract remaining, player stage of career etc. etc.

If Doucs was in demand the price is higher. He wasn't.

But some players were always going to be sold. And the market isn't what it was.
