He looks delighted. The concern over wondering where his wife and kids are being held written all over his face.
After being told several times to say it and then encouraged to be more excited and happy.....he posted what he was told to post.....
So is it confirmed his deal runs out in 2021? If so we're in a sticky situation as I can't see him renewing terms with us knowing big clubs want him and he can secure a tasty signing on fee as a free agent. Also strange on our end to not cash in now while he's hot property and still our player. Perhaps suggests that we've managed to extend his deal over the last couple of years without announcing it... Weird that our original loan agreement with Osasuna was due to run to 2021, when his contract here is supposedly due to expire.
There was something somewhere that stated he has signed until 2023/2024, something like that. My guess is he’s signed a contract extension but like most things we haven’t made it public.
Yes, think you might be right. This is the only article I could find referencing the new contract (posted a couple months ago by SLB in another thread), seems to be from an Osasuna-based paper: https://amp.diariodenavarra.es/noti...&utm_source=Twitter&__twitter_impression=true Apparently signed up to 2024, great business from Gino if that's true.
One thing we know is that Gino is a business. Losing a prized asset for free isn’t his style. I would be shocked if Estupinan’s contract ran out at the end of this season. I tend to believe the article that we’ve signed him until 2024. If he was available on a free in 4months, I think the papers would have known all about it.
I'm going to trust Ivic on this until it's proved he's a liar (over unknown strangers on twatter). "Some of use were expecting to see Estupinan, was he injured?" "Estupinian is the guy who's worked with us in the last 10 days, he has some small problem during the week, and I take the decision not to use him because he was not 100% ready for the game. But I believe he will be fast with us"
Maybe Ivic himself is being deceived over the situation. I'm sure if he thought we'd be having a mass clear out of good players, he wouldn't have given us a second thought about joining the club.
Don't make excuses for the club. The club didn't have to send the injury tweet. Ivic could simply have said (as Pearson often did) "I'm not going to talk about individuals this is about the group..." Any deliberate attempt to deceive the fans is not acceptable.
Well the club can't win then. Either they say nothing about Estupinan being missing and you'd be wetting yourself, or they say he has a 'knock' (pretty much the standard excuse for leaving a player out) and you still wet yourself. I assure you the club have lied to us plenty of times before. Not sure why you're finding it a problem now?
If a player doesn't want to be here I'm not going to wet myself. My view is 'bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out' I'm sure the club have lied to us previously, so that makes it alright for them to carry on then?
Unless any of these guys can raise very good money by us selling them, I would just stick them in the stiffs and let them rot, until they get their fingers out and start to play for their living.
The Wobby are now saying we are in advanced talks about him moving to Villareal for £15m , apparently Brighton are also interested, but Estupinan would prefer to return to Spain. However I would imagine the little ingrate (providing the Wobby have this right that is) is not on a big wage. Therefore this could be a case where we could indeed afford to just make him play in the stiffs until he gets over himself and puts in an enough effort to play for the first team. Why sell him now when he will probably be worth more money if we hang on to him a year or two, furthermore he might even change his mind and want to stay especially if we do get promoted and after he has been living here a while, you never know he might even decide he likes playing for us?
Are you sure about that, because I thought that someone posted on here that he had signed an extension to 2024? However, if you are correct and the little ingrate want's out then he's got us over a barrel, but if he is in contract until 2024 I still reckon we should play hard ball with him and make him stay.
Lol yes, let a young, talented and ambitious player rot in the reserves without pay because he dare have higher ambitions than playing in England's second division with a club that goes through 2 managers a season on average. Deary me, call him an ingrate? What the **** does he owe us or Gino? Wonder what some of you are like with your exes, weirdos.
Yep. Your post was a sarcastic dig at those sceptical about the club's plans but turns out they were right. Bit of humble pie maybe?
Someone should have told him he got the move away from here, he doesn't have to pull these stunts to avoid playing for us!
The Athletic reporting that he’s close to joining Brighton as Cucurella’s replacement, for £15m. If true, we probably wouldn’t see any sell on fee as that’s not much profit. He’s got another five years on his contract so I’m wondering why they’ve decided to sell a first team regular for no profit.
I saw a link the other day that our deal is 20% of any fee for him. No idea how credible the link was and initially thought that it goes against usual sell on (transfer increase) deals. However, it said we were in line for a few million if sold Edit: Ahhh it was Talksport https://the72.co.uk/2022/08/15/watf...mer-player-nears-premier-league-transfer/amp/ I only skim read it at the time
