I remember seeing him play for the youth team in a cup game, where he lined up in midfield alongside Bangura. He was lovely to watch that night, glided around the pitch.

By all accounts he managed to put together a decent enough career around the lower-levels, but I remember him being quite highly-rated at one point.

 

Would have been great back-up, but if he wants to play first-team football, let him

Cheerio Abdoulaye! On your day you were excellent, unfortunately for the last 18 months it has only been your day once or twice.

A lovely bloke who I met in person, I genuinely wish him all the best but I think he believed a bit too much in his own hype. He was absent last season, and should have gone last summer.

 

On his day he's a top class midfielder and wouldn't look out of place in any of the best midfields in Europe, however, I feel that was him in the Slither and early Gracia days, since then he's been woeful.

Is it will or ability? I guess we will find out.

18 months ago he was worth £50m comfortably! Now he's only worth half of that and I think anything from £20m-25m is fair business! Despite our scuffles with Everton in the Slither days, we've done good business with them for Richardson & Doucoure when no one else was offering to do business for either player.

I hope he goes on to fulfil his potential, but I think at the age of 28, with his injuries in the past (dodgy knees) and the way he plays the game (box-t0-box all energy), I think we've probably seen the best of him.

Time for Quina & Dele-Bashiru to deliver their potential. Good luck to Doucoure. Not sad to see him go, it was the right thing to do 12-18 months ago!

Think he may have a decent season for Everton, a fresh start may be good for him. But he relies heavily on his athleticism rather than technique, so I doubt it’s a good long term signing and he will have limited resale value.

We have effectively had Doucoure for nothing. Signed for £8m and sold for £20-25m. The profit more than covers his wages that we have paid.They don’t always get it right, but we should give credit to the owners, where it’s due

 

3+1 year deal is pretty much perfect for Everton. They've done well.

 

At his best he was a brilliant player. He set himself too high a benchmark that he then couldn't match.

Brilliant player when on form. At one stage I was convinced he would be off to a top club for a significantly larger fee than what he's eventually gone for. Seems a decent chap too.
However, not been at the races for some time now. Don't know if that's something specific to him or just the impact of the general circus vibes surrounding the club the last season or so. I hope he gets back to his best.
Excited to see the likes of Quina try to fill Doucoure's boots this season though.
