Hold up being we have supposedly had contacts with one of the worst managers ever!

If we appoint Ventura that’s an embarrassment to the club and all Watford fans.

 

According to a few Italian sources on social media, Gino held talks with Gian Piero Ventura today...

The Watford looking for a coach after the painful relegation and a happy cycle in the Premier League . The watchword is to go up quickly, now Gino Pozzohas probed several technicians and wants to make the right choice. In the last few hours there has also been in-depth contact with Gian Piero Ventura , fresh from the third flop in a row in Salerno after those with the National team and Chievo . Pozzo has deepened the speech relating to the staff, for sure Ventura is a candidate even if not the only one.

This guy is a truly shocking manager. A half decent stint at Torino which got him the Italy job where he flopped massively. A stint then at Chievo where he resigned after just 4 games - and recently sacked by Serie B side Salernitana after failing to get a playoff spot and being publicly insulted by the club president.
The guy can’t speak a word of English and has had 20 clubs in his career to date.

Make no mistake. This is the worst name we have been linked to so far and is not someone who should even be considered for a club in the position we are in.

Gino will have truly lost the plot should he employ him.

Just stated the same thing. If we appoint him, we deserve relegation to league 1. Absolute useless manager. Destroyed the Italian national team when they had one of the best teams in Europe. Italians hate him and he’s one of them!

 

If that's who we appoint I'm honestly retiring as a football fan.

 

First coach in 50 years to not take Italy to a World Cup, sounds right up our street.

 

I think if they hire that guy there will be a flurry of transfer requests and an exodus of fans.

The transfer requests will likely already be in, and as for the fans opinions, I really doubt the owner cares.

At this point I refuse to believe that we are just "taking our time".

We've probably been told to get ****ed by 4 or 5 different coaches and are now desperately scraping the barrel looking for the cheapest journeyman possible.

Ffs, I’m off to support city. I like the colour of their kit and the transfer news is exciting. They play a fellow called Foden who apparently is the next England superstar. The news coming out of Watford gets worse everyday. If it’s not links to our star players making sideways steps to other premier league relegation hopefuls for bargain prices it’s links to players who can’t get in league one clubs coming our way. They can’t even cheer me up and release a **** shirt to laugh at and buy my kid. Now this story. FML.

Leventhal (whose credibility has taken a hit but it still the most credible Watford journalist in my opinion) said in the comments that the managerial appointment should be confirmed in the next few days. That would appear to align with Burnsy’s ITK intel from earlier in the thread on the meeting schedule.

 

I mean, you hardly need to be connected to make THAT particular prediction...

This guy does not sound good, therefore if what people are saying about him is true and Gino appoints him as manager , I shall probably be joining the "Pozzo's Out Brigade"

 

So the brief is a young, dynamic and hungry coach with lots of potential and they come up with a 72 year old failed journeyman, who can't speak a word of English. Does anyone not think the talks might be Udinese related?

To my mind, this seems to be an interview for Udinese. Not even as the head coach, but more of a football director or something along those lines. It would make sense to get someone like him in this position to work alongside Gotti.

What concerns me is why do they appear so relaxed over the appointment, They've take a 3 week holiday, very nice, then they have worked on the Udinese coaching set up.

We seem to have taken a back seat. Surely today we'll start hearing something a little more solid over the next head coach.

I hope they've not missed the boat and will get someone worthy of the position.

 

Maybe, but we don’t even know that the new coach isn’t already resolved and (for example) waiting on a visa or some other reason why he can’t be announced. Could well be making plans and preparations right now.

You do that. You probably get a badge and a little flag when you join.

 

Stories like this have a habit of leaking out ahead of time. If it's all sorted we'd know by now, certainly the rumours would be rife.

I'm sure they are making plans right now, but that stage should have been weeks ago, the day after Pearson was sacked, if not before.

But the proof is in the pudding. If they've taken their time and get a top class coach, then I'd be delighted. But if they end up with a Chris Hughton type or even Ventura, then we'd all know the long wait was a waste of time.

 

We get Ventura and suddenly my excitement for this season has depreciated to ******* nothingness

 

I can see it now, the dream team of Ventura and Giraldi as interpreter/assistant manager/kit man.

Ventura mumbles something in Italian, the team not understanding what he’s saying look at Giraldi who translates it as Troy to play upfront on his own.

 

If it is him got to give the bloke a chance. Feels like a choice to fit the existing struggling model but he had a good run at Torino.
