I wasn't really expecting us to suddenly win 2 on the bounce with Norwich and Newcastle, but it happened.
Everton and Arsenal only if they're playing away to teams much better than Villa. And Everton have only lost three at home, and while I'm not sure about West Ham, only Norwich have a worse away record than Villa. And with all due respect,
With Spurs beating Arsenal today, if Spurs also win their next two fixtures away at Newcastle and at home to Leicester, then Arsenal will be already on the beach by the time they play both away at Villa and at home to us.
Yes, but one of those wins was against the absolute worst team in the league who have realistically been relegated since before lockdown. We will now likely return to normal and not pick up many more points. It's very unlikely multiple teams at the bottom suddenly start consistently picking up wins and points all the way until the end of the season. Villa are still a crap team. They're not suddenly good or likely to go on a big run just because Palace didn't bother turning up today after VAR decided to try and rig the outcome, which is another point to consider from their win today. They've got to play Everton away who are a better side than Palace and who Ancelotti will be demanding a reaction from, Arsenal who should beat them comfortably, and West Ham who may well still need something themselves and have more about them than Villa. It could happen and we could be overtaken and go down, but I'd say the odds are very much on our side as of this moment. We just have to stay strong and get something, even if just a point, from West Ham. That should seal it.
AV getting 4 points from 3 games, a win, draw and loss, is very very possible. We need to get a point so that they need 2 wins which becomes possible but unlikely. I seriously don't think that Everton away is a difficult game in an empty stadium when Everton are only 3 pts better than CP and have absolutely nothing to play for and no fans in the stadium to let down or get on their backs. Hopefully Arsenal, after their defeat today, have something to play for when they play AV and nothing to play for when they play us.
That will literally be impossible unless they fail to win against Villa, in which case we could be buggered anyway. (none of the other teams around Arsenal play in-between the Arsenal v Villa game, and our game vs them on the last day)
No, look at what I added in my edit and the fixtures of Spurs, Burnley and Arsenal - Spurs and Burnley both play their penultimate fixtures before Arsenal play Villa. Then obviously the final round are all at the same time.
Not sure I agree with this. The familiarity of being at home should make a difference, if only slight.
And Coleman. Sounded like they want to put things right. They also aren't in as bad form generally as Palace are.
Villa have been the beneficiary of two of the biggest VAR decisions ever. How the hell is this disallowed as handball. You guested it. Jon Toss was the VAR referee. Such a bent b&stard. He has to be struck off. He's a match fixer. https://twitter.com/i/status/1282305778167296001
I'm nervous again now after feeling good yesterday. That Villa, Everton game is crucial. Any points for Villa and I think we're struggling again. We'll lose to West Ham (Antonio is one of our bogey players, and is in ridiculous form) and City is a goal difference saving exercise.
Has the situation changed massively for us though? We assumed at least either Villa or Bournemouth would nab at least a win. All that remains is we need a decent result at West Ham, like it or lump it it’s still in our hands. Given the City game is a complete write off, 4 points is doable from the other two games, and that will more than keep us up. My only concern is the clubs bottle if there was a final day scenario.
Let's not forget that West Ham are still very much involved and are pretty much just as much at risk as we are as well. It's not just us and Villa.
A Bournemouth draw is basically no different to a loss tonight right? Assuming they lose to City away, they then need 6 points from their last 2 either way
I am thoroughly enjoying just how much you can rely on Bournemouth being utterly useless this season. It’s about time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
