Christ I hate most of this squad. Hughes, Masina, and Welbeck at least look bothered and professional, but the rest can just **** off. Either spineless or don't give a ****.

The club have caused this culture. The players don’t pay the price of failure, the coaches do.

Because any coach worth their salt won't want to work with a Technical Director who insists on being involved pre-match, at half time and sit on the bench with the team.

Does any other team do this? Genuinely interested.

    Agree with most of this.

In regard to the bolded part, I think it needs to be more than a coach with a philosophy. It needs to be a commitment from the club to a particular style of play, and coaches are hired with this in mind.

The same goes for signings. They have to be made with the understanding that they will fit the profile of player we need to implement the style of play.

We know coaches will come and go with regularity at this level. The mess we’re in currently is surely in part down to the mishmash of players we’ve acquired over the last few seasons, for several different managers, none of whom really have much in common.

I do believe some of these issues would be negated if we had a definitive philosophy as a club, and all changes/signings were made with that in mind. I don’t think Giraldi is the man to implement this. He’s part of the stale, rotten mess we’re in now. A new technical director is needed to bring these changes.

It's like when documentarians go into repressive countries and are provided with a government minder who follows them into the toilet making sure they're not shooting anything they shouldn't be. We have become a dictatorship.

C&P from The Run In Thread: -

I think we actually played better tonight than we have for quite some time, and had we not conceded that late 3rd goal I would have not been too unhappy with the result. All in all, I think we had a decent final 20 mins with the exception of conceding that 3rd goal

IMO Welbeck is beginning to look reasonably sharp, and his movement is so much better than Deeney's has been for quite some time, so maybe it's time to start Welbeck instead of Deeney. If we do that, touch wood I think he might score a few goals for us before the end of the season providing his fitness holds up. We looked so much better going forward once Welbeck came on, Massina also seemed to make a fair difference, but I'm not sure if Cleverly even touched the ball.

Some of Pearson's subs actually seemed to make a difference for once, though Cleverly did not do much and why oh why did he replace Sarr with Bobby P. Although I admit Sarr was pretty anonymous for most of the game, but as he was just starting to get into the game Pearson went and subbed him, WHY!!!

Thankfully, once again other results went our way today and hopefully Villa will get nothing tomorrow seeing as they are playing Liverpool. However, we really must stop relying on others losing and get some points under our belt by winning at least two more games, because IMO six more points might just be enough to keep us in the PL this season.

Tonight was always going to be a waste of time. The only hope was to keep the score down, but we also failed miserably in this.

We have a habit of conceding late goals, and tonight was another to add to the collection, although for once didn't affect the result.

Our season is Norwich, Newcastle and West Ham. We need 7 points, or else it's Championship football...….simple as that.

It's not impossible we can get 7 points, but I don't think we will. We're not good enough. I do think we'll beat Norwich, but we'll lose the rest of these games. There is no magic wand. Pearson's mystique is over and so is his influence.

That's a shame as I think he's got ability, especially with Shakespeare. I'm surprised at how sh1t we are under him, although to be fair, it's not his team with his signings. I think Pearson can build sides given time, but picking up only 6 points from 11 games is pathetic, even allowing for any circumstances you'd like to include.

If we fail to beat Norwich, I cannot see Pearson remaining in his job. It's not Gino's style to flog a dead horse. There's no point in it.

I hope you're wrong because I can't see us getting seven points 5 max. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if later tonight we find he has already gone.

It’s a difficult one, we need a manager/coach who can motivate a group of players half of which are on a journey (have boots will travel) not bothered who they play for as long as they get a decent wage at the end of the month!

for the British players my suggestion would be a Kenny Jackett, for the non-British Wenger, although we would have more chance with the former than the later!

If he was going to go, it would have been after Southampton. Tonight was always going to be a beating and at least they did play better for a 10 minute spell.

He's got Norwich, but if we mess that one up, I cannot see why he would remain.

I think 5 will be enough. But we won’t get that many.

We didn't dump off Gracia until a week into the international break, timelines with Gino don't work to convention. All depends on how long it takes Giraldi to make up his mind to appoint Deeney til the end of the season.

I think Nigel probably just thought the game was finished and we have a massive game coming up in a few days take Sarr off before he gets injured. Massina did look more like himself when he come on maybe he needed a bit of a rest, no brainer that he starts in the next game. I think every man and his dog knows we should start Welbeck ahead of Deeney but will Nigel be brave enough? Agreed Cleverley worked hard but it was very difficult against such a top quality and tricky midfield. Hopefully Liverpool take out their frustration at getting hammered by City on Aston Villa tomorrow and we are still in the same position with one of our hardest fixtures out of the way.

Chalobah tried but he never played well, lost count of the times he gave the ball away.

Only player really to have any credit since the restart is Hughes.

Hughes will be an asset in the championship

It would be so Watford to lose the next three, then beat @rse and Citee to stay up on GD.

Out of interest, what did you expect from Pearson. He has done nothing since the Leicester job and bar a few games we’ve not done anything

Agreed, - Capoue looked half bothered to. Special shout out to Masina - on the bench for the first half water break and he was going round trying to get players up for it and help them. If we go down, I hope we keep Masina.

Something Barnsey said on R4 this morning really stuck in my brain about how Liverpool watched him closely to see that he would be able to perform for more than a single season...

Beating City is literally the furthest away from ‘so Watford’ as it is possible to get.

I reckon Norwich have more of a chance of beating them.

It seemed today that the tactic was to sit deep, conserve energy, and hope for a lucky break. Then give everything for the more winnable game on against Norwich.

If we don’t beat Norwich, then Pearson should be sacked, and we deserve to be relegated.

Yeah Mike it was all about damage limitation today, and it nearly worked until we let that 3rd goal in .

However it could have been a lot worse I suppose, and I did say before the game that I would not be too unhappy conceding 2 or at worst 3. Thankfully at the end of the day it was not the complete thrashing which I had feared it might be.
