He could earn himself a contract, but having seen the state of our club, I doubt he wants to.

Interesting thoughts. I’d have Capoue and Doucouré at their best (too inconsistent, unlike Taylor and Jackett), Deulofeu ditto, Foster as reserve keeper. Need to see more from Sarr, but the talent is clearly there. Hughes ok as backup. Not Deeney, and Richarlison was mostly pants for us.
What would be your first XI though?

I just cannot see him being told who to buy , who to loan out and in.

I know modern football is like that now but Pearson will want his own players which is probably why Pedro and other new players haven't been used that much.

The fact we keep changing the centre halves shows no consistency in that area.

£6m transferred from WFC to Udinese -#keepitinthefamily
This is on top of the £26m paid for other transfers since 2015 to Udinese

First choice XI would be; Coton, Rice, Sims, McClelland, Rostron, Jackett, Taylor, Blissett, Barnes, Callaghan, Mighty Mo. Narrowly missing out are Gibbs and Deulofeu. Bascially only one from this era would get near to the first choice starting XI, IMHO of course.

Yeah but we do have Norwich and Newcastle at home and West Ham away, which are more winnable than our rivals fixtures. I don't think playing Arsenal last game in an empty stadium when they have nothing to play for is that much of a bad thing.

If this is the case these players should named and shamed, I know that won't happen, but at the very least should play no further part in the future of this club

Utter shambles. Sick of the lot of them, Hughes excepted.

I don't know if any of you are subscribed to the Hornet Hive, but last night they did a quite sobering post match interview with Emma Saunders, Gifton Noel Williams (who looks really cool) and Richard Johnson. They spoke about unity, the fear factor of being in a relegation fight and whether or not something rotten is going on behind the scenes like Silva was. A good listen and great to see ex-players commenting on the current spineless cowards we have now.

The problem is any serious consideration of that would take about 2 minutes and end in riotous laughter.

Loving that team. Kevin Richardson, Bardsley and a fired up Paul Robinson would be extremely close imo.

It's clear that Doucoure doesn't care enough (he probably thinks a move will be easier if we are relegated) but we need his goal thread from midfield with GD injured.

Without him, we're relegated. And on his current form, with him too.

Doucoure was shocking yesterday. Don't think he managed even a 5yd pass to a teammate without somehow making it harder than it needed to be.

This hurts me more than anything. I can live with average players who sweat blood and tears for our club but anybody who downs tools is unacceptable. Get them out now.

Yep. I actually feel sorry for the Albino One.

He has been busting a gut, though he's technically one of our more limited players.

Capoue and Doucoure are, in theory, much better, but have offered so much less in the past 2 or 3 games.

He's the only one I'm not putting against the wall once we storm the training ground.

The pitch is great because only ten players are running around on it.

They've done it time and time and time again.

Even different players have done it under different coaches.

There is something rotten in the state of Watford and the consistent factors are Gino, Giraldi and Deeney.

I can't see that Deeney can be that much if a malign influence, that he consistently makes new players adopt the Rancid Watford Attitude within weeks of signing for us, so it HAS to be a cultural failing from the very top of the club. The owner.

Looked like he was playing for the first time in 8 months, with a hangover, in borrowed boots that were the wrong size and wearing uncomfortable underwear that was giving him grief.

True, but that more shows the lack of quality in goal now and how that is causing problems as well. Gomes I maintain was better than Karnezis when he joined on loan, but when Foster joined it was reasonably close but Foster had an edge. Further down the line Gomes has slowed up and we're now seeing the lack of push from having a strong 2nd choice goalkeeper.

Dahlberg was a Swedish international keeper when he joined us, wasn't he? Couldn't even tell you where he is now, maybe he's gone into stock trading like Baardsen.

Swedish international sure, as 3rd choice behind Olsen and Johnsson and since then, Nordfeldt.

In the cold light of the morning after the night before:

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Pearson discovered that:
    1. Chalobah, Quina and Gray would not be available for the match on Saturday.
    2. Chalobah, Quina and Gray would not be available for any group training sessions for the vital Geordie match on Saturday 11th July.
EDIT: It's just been pointed out that PL 'timings' might be different. Even so, I wonder if NP only found out about the 'party' on Saturday evening/Sunday morning...

No way. I played Sunday league hungover 90% of the time and was way more effective. At least I mowed down the opposition and had a little desire to win.

With a bit of luck from injuries and refs not giving everything against us, we could be 'best of the rest.'

And I can guarantee a Southampton player would have been running onto his 1st half pull-back which had effectively taken the whole defence out of the play...

Tbf, there's a gap between even the mid table teams and the bottom 5, and Bournemouth are out of '6 pointers', Villa have just West Ham, whereas we have Norwich and West Ham (West Ham have by far the friendliest fixture list now, I think they will pull away). You can't put Arsenal in the same class as Man City and Chelsea these days neither, we should have beaten them earlier in the season, and have beaten them a few times in the past few years with teams on woeful runs of form. It would not surprise me one bit if both Villa and Bournemouth don't win another game this season, although we do need to be prepared for them nicking a few points here and there

I wonder if all the players were invited to Gray's party ?

They all played like they had been to one or had the hump they didn't go .
