Aah - he's mashed his landing and used too much toe, didn't get the full rotation! How have the judges marked him higher than the Canadian! Do they even know what they are doing?

One of my sister-in-laws is a semi retired nurse in a geriatric ward. She has been off for a couple of weeks and has been very actively socially distancing throughout that time knowing that she was going in to work this week.

She went to work yesterday, and below is a list of the precautions being taken on the ward.

    …...

That's it. Absolutely no precautions whatsoever. Everyone is just sitting round together, mixing with all the staff and outsiders like the library assistant and cleaners who comes in. Congregating in the kitchen and in front of the TV, no sanitizer, etc.

She said you would never have guessed that anything was untoward at all.

    She's quite upset.

    Virus day 9.
Pretty much nothing has changed over the last 2 days. Still getting fever, i can't bear to sit upright most of the time, the thought of eating still makes me nauseous, no energy, still this irritating cough, but still no sign of any breathing issues. I really don't want to play this game anymore. Some friends are delivering some more paracetemol tomorrow. Stories on the net suggest it can take 2 weeks to feel well again so there may be another 4 or 5 days to go of this. Oh crap.

Hope feeling better soon, my Dad who is 83 seems to have similiar symptoms, runny nose, persistent cough , loss of appetite but seems to be getting through it

Get well soon to all on here who are getting the virus. I think both my kids have it, certainly my daughter has had a really nasty cough for about a week now although only had a temperature for one day. My son had the same cough about two weeks ago but similarly very little else. So far I remain unscathed although did have a nasty cough and cold in Feb so that may have been it

I may be completely wrong but I was under the impression cold-like symptoms (ie sneezing, runny nose, etc) aren't typical symptoms of covid-19.

I had a really heavy head cold last week but I think it was a head cold and nothing more. A lot more people will have colds at the minute than mild covid-19 but most people seem to think their cold may be covid-19. I guess it doesn't do much harm though if you assume the worst and try to limit the spread anyway!

Without the testing it's so difficult to tell the difference between colds, regular flu and CV19. I believe the key indicators are the debilitating fever and occasional dry cough. We didn't have a runny nose or sneezing at any point but i guess not everyone's symptoms are the same and it's possible to have a really light version. I've not felt this unwell in 20 years.

I feel a bit better thanks UEA. Still a little fever, and cough is hanging about!

TuT, sorry to hear all that and relieved it isn't me.

Friends brother is in the military, spoke to him this morning, told me he was back last week on 2 weeks holiday leave that was already pre booked, but he was recalled back after one day of being at home.

Was told apparently the Govt computer models have the country looting within 8-12 weeks, so I sincerely hope this mess is sorted out well before then.

We will come out of lockdown before it happens, probably moving to something similar to the current Swedish model, bars and pubs and working yes, no big gatherings. Contact testing and body heat sensors everywhere.

There isn’t any choice really. Lockdown has a limited life. That’s not to say it couldn’t be repeated next Winter, but we would be prepared.

After two days of numbers going down, 393 UK deaths reported today, massive jump.

Somewhat expected seeing as they have changed how they are counting deaths.

Any looting would be dealt with quickly and quite sternly I'd imagine, police won't make the same mistakes they made in 2011. Even with the police stretched as they are, they haven't got the pressures of policing mass gatherings, sporting events, transport hubs, pubs/clubs etc - plus, the police in Derby seem to have plenty of time to fly drones around so looks like they've got some time on their hands.

I think the jump is due to now recording community deaths, might be wrong though - doesn't seem that the media are sure themselves either.

When they say that some of the younger people who have sadly died did not have any underlying health problems I have my doubts. Of course it is possible that they did not, but we will probably never know whether they did or not, as I am sure there will be no autopsy performed on them. Therefore it is possible they may have had an undiagnosed health problem that had not yet come to light.

Likewise there are probably many people who have been diagnosed of having died from Cvirus that have actually died from another cause, because even though they may have had the virus in their systems it may not be what actually killed them.

I'll probably be slated for saying this, but I think that in a few months when all the enquiries etc. into this current hiatus are in full swing, we will all be wondering what all the OTT fuss was about.

I'm not saying that the deaths etc. are not a terrible thing, but I do question why this particular sickness is causing more, IMO self created problems, for the world than all the other sicknesses that have happened in the past.

I might be wrong, but I think we are possibly all in a state of MASS HYSTERIA.

Completely agree. I used to play football with a bloke who who was about 35, who went for a run one day and dropped dead. It turned out the poor bloke had a heart defect which had never been noticed. Obviously he had an underlying condition but it was only apparent when the did a post mortem.

Bit like some do on here when we don't win a game of football or someome has a bad game?

Now then you'd think we're all going to die and the world is doomed going by how some react.

Kind of puts everything into perspective though even if you feels for the vast majority it's nothing to get overly worried about.

Tell that to the people who have suffered respiratory shut down.

I'm an asthmatic, having a severe attack is horrible...gasping for air, being totally aware of it and feeling helpless.

I would like to force you down into a tank of water for 3 minutes and let you up for a gulp of air then force you back down. We'll do it 10 times...let's see you not become hysterical.

I have family in Italy, their region has not been overly affected, but they're worried and scared by it - they had the same attitude as you.

So if you think it's over exaggerated then get yourself infected and experience what it feels like to drown....hopefully, you won't be so moronic in future.

Oh no! Not the infamous wet market. Foreigners eating different food from us is definitely the cause of all these problems. The dirty, dirty bastards!

I agree with your very sensible suggestion of getting into a post-Brexit trade war with China. Financial and industrial weaklings that they are, they'll doubtlessly quickly buckle under and comply with every single one of our dietary demands. Only pie and chips and baked beans for them from now on, with a proper civilised jam roly-poly and custard for pud

If not, we can send a gunboat, or sell them some opium or beat up a vaguely oriental-looking student on the underground or something, errr.....

Except that from the reading I've done, this global crisis was almost certainly caused as a direct result of the way animals are kept alive and dead in these filthy, cramped conditions, allowing viruses to mutate and cross to humans.

If we want to stamp out mediaeval style pandemics, we need to get rid of mediaeval style food hygiene in one of the world's largest economies and populations.

Come on, it's not the OP's fault, or indeed yours, that you unfortunately suffer from asthma & would be affected more then others. The virus does not care about anyone's personal set of circumstances. These are the cards we are dealt. There is much more to this whole saga than Hornetgags outraged feelings, name calling & then making out he's some sort of devil.

You have probably come to the realisation that you need to take more care than most health wise now for a very long time to come & that's probably more the root of the issue.

Are you out and about then? Going to visit elderly relatives and coughing all over them? Or just sitting on an Internet forum talking ******** as usual?

If someone you care about gets this vicious disease, be sure to tell them of your theory. I'm sure it'll go down just brilliantly.

Unfortunately young people including infants die of flu and it’s consequences (pneumonia etc) every year.
This is horribly tragic, but it is not reported in the way CV deaths are.
Flu badly affects the very young and very old.

It seems to be a positive, if that is the correct word, that babies and infants and the young are not succumbing to CV.
The sad case of a 13 year old dying of CV is a rare exception and it is unknown if there is an underlying health reason for CV taking his life.

It is interesting that the reporting is that people are dying OF corona virus or Covid-19. It is not reported that people die WITH corona virus and death is caused by respiratory failure or heart failure etc.
Most seem to have an ’underlying health condition’.

People who are diabetic die WITH diabetes, and the cause of death is usually complications such as heart failure, cardiovascular disease, stroke. Diabetes causes 500 PREMATURE deaths PER WEEK according to Diabetes UK.
4.8 million people have diabetes in the UK.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this.

Other than thank God the young and ‘healthy’ are fairly resistant to the worst effects of CV.

And that the deaths that are occurring are mainly unfortunately affecting those who are vulnerable living with a reduced life expectancy. Their mortality is tragically being brought forward but there is an overlap of some of these people who would have died anyway.

  35. wfc4ever

    wfc4ever Administrator Staff Member

And everyone around then as well.

If this can still be passed on to more vulnerable and elderly people then we all need to be wary.

Now naturally life does have to go back to normal in some way at some point but it's all changed for everyone.

Having said that we all should be washing our hands anyway and no-ones likes someome breathing on their shoulder in a queue!

Hopefully a vaccine can be found.
