He’s really earned it recently... hopefully it’s performance related and he loses £10k for every cross he doesn’t bother to chase back and block that flies into our box.
Just seen you’ve done it, thanks again, I like coming back to threads like this and seeing what’s what .
https://twitter.com/watfordfc/status/1138823270013313028?s=21 New 4yr deal for Cathcart. Happy he’s staying and committed. But please don’t let it be a sign that the club think we are good for CB’s.
Perhaps he will stop banging his head with his hands as he did at the 3-3 draw at Bournemouth. He had another nightmare game. Loyal player, but not good enough for the Premiership. We need to sign some CB's for sure.
He's plenty good enough for this league, for now at least. After his injury troubles he surprised me last season with his consistency. Needs a solid partner next to him though, rather than the mannequins Gino keeps providing.
IMO he is the best of the awful CB's we have on our books. Mariappa - too short, looks lost at times. Championship/Division 1 level at best. Kabasele - prone to too many errors and lacks concentration. Prodl - can't jump, too slow and always been injury prone (delicate) Britos - adios Ok, all teams are looking for CB,s. Midfield and Strikers. We will be towards the end of the queue when it comes to the transfer market.
Our centre-backs are so bad we've never been in the relegation spots since getting promoted. The full-backs? Holebas - pah! Too old. Kiko can't cross, Janmaat is made of glass and Masina is so slow. Capoue was seen to be lazy by many and they wanted him sold after every supposed abject performance until he pops up as POTS last year and is now looked at as as important, if not more so, than Doucoure. He of course is over rated now Capoue has started to shine. Hughes is never a winger yet plays nigh on every game while Pereyra only turns it on for the big games and is a soft touch - oh look, he's now an international again! Deeney is fat, Gray has no first touch, Deulofeu is injury prone and wastes too many chances. The rest should be either sold or used as squad players!!! The coach has his favourites and if we don't win then he has no Plan B despite playing a number of formations in his time here. Seriously, we must be the luckiest club in the division to finish mid-table and to get to a cup final, especially with the FA/PL/referees all conspiring against us. ******* HELL!!
Here is an up-to-date view of the contract situation. Gomes 30-Jun-2020 1 Janmaat 30-Jun-2020 1 Foster 30-Jun-2020 1 Bachmann 30-Jun-2020 1 Mariappa 30-Jun-2020 1 Holebas 30-Jun-2020 1 Hernandez 30-Jun-2020 1 Pereyra 30-Jun-2021 2 Femenia 30-Jun-2021 2 Prodl 30-Jun-2021 2 Kabasele 30-Jun-2021 2 Foulquier 30-Jun-2021 2 Deeney 30-Jun-2021 2 Okaka 30-Jun-2021 2 Zeegelaar 30-Jun-2021 2 Hughes 30-Jun-2022 3 Capoue 30-Jun-2022 3 Quina 30-Jun-2022 3 Cleverley 30-Jun-2022 3 Chalobah 30-Jun-2022 3 Gray 30-Jun-2022 3 Lukebakio 30-Jun-2022 3 Sibo 30-Jun-2022 3 Navarro 30-Jun-2023 4 Deulofeu 30-Jun-2023 4 Dahlberg 30-Jun-2023 4 Cathcart 30-Jun-2023 4 Dawson 30-Jun-2023 4 Wilmot 30-Jun-2023 4 Masina 30-Jun-2023 4 Doucoure 30-Jun-2023 4 Sema 30-Jun-2023 4 Penaranda 30-Jun-2023 4 Success 30-Jun-2023 4 Stuparevic 30-Jun-2023 4 I think we have an option on Foster, so we can easily extend his deal for another year. Hernandez is another we really need to extend the contract for.
Did I read this morning that Holebas only has a year left on his contract? Surely this needs to be extended. I'd like to see him stay a couple more years, but if nothing else then would help to drive up his value if we did decide to sell. Edit: looking at the above Janmatt too. We can't let these two run down their contracts! Even if we no longer wanted them we'd still surely be able to get £10m+ each for them?
£10M? Holebas is 35, it's unlikely he'd get many takers in the big leagues now, maybe as a free transfer. Janmatt is 30, so he'd possibly still get someone interested, but he's probably on a reasonable wage and doesn't light up the league. We could maybe get a few million?
Would've though top championship sides would pay out for them. Or top teams in lesser quality European leagues. I guess only wages would put teams off but we hardly pay a lot so wouldn't be that much of a struggle. Better that than get nothing. Even a few million would help fund a bigger transfer elsewhere.
Holebas for head coach. I can picture him standing on the touchline screaming at the linesman, while wearing a hoodie and baggy trousers from his very own clothing range.
Could someone update the contract situation please plus any chance of including the players on our books who are elsewhere but have some kind of possibility of making it with us (Suarez, Aias, Cucho, Estupinan etc) Thanks in advance for anyone who takes this on
http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/watford-fc-player-information-2019-2020.56405/ Posts #4 & #5 are the most up to date in that thread. Since then, Janmaat's contract has been extended to 2022 and Bachmann's to 2024. Jorge Segura is on loan at Envigado FC. Filip Stuparevic is on loan at FK Vozdovac. Adam Parkes is on loan at Havant & Waterlooville FC. Harry Hudson is on loan at Billericay Town. We've also picked up out of contract centre back Derek Agyakwa on a free transfer after his release from FC Twente. His move has yet to be confirmed so no details of contract length yet. He's 18 years old and from Holland. There may have been academy player contracts extended but I've not been looking lately.
Leventhal sharing his Athletic article that states 4 players have signed ‘secret’ new contracts. I don’t subscribe so can’t read it but I think it’s referring to contracts over the course of the season. I know Janmaat and Bachmann were reported to have signed new deals recently and Kabasele supposedly did before that. Who’s the fourth?
Everything is a secret when it comes to Watford. I'm surprised they even publish the results on the website, especially this season. It' all top secret you know. But, with regards to the secret 4, it is Bachmann and Janmaat, who we already knew about, but the other two are Kabs, signed until 2024 and Kiko, also signed to 2024. Also mentions Deeney has a built-in clause in his contract for a extension if targets have been met, which apparently is the case. His previous deal ran out in 2021, but now has been extended until 2022. Finally Foster, has been in talks and will extend for another season, with an option for another year after that. They also talk about Pearson's contract. He will definitely get a new deal if we stay up. He may get a new deal even if we go down, but that all depends on the manner of relegation. If we go down with a whimper, then he'll be gone. If we go down fighting, then he'll be considered. Holebas will not be retained but there are plans to bring in Pervis Estupinan as his replacement as well as Cucho Hernandez and Luis Suarez into next season's squad.
Excellent. Just bring in the prodigal sons. Don't sign the players we actually need. See which square pegs we can hammer into our round holes instead. Bravo Pozzos.
It's from an article on The Athletic. Club aren't announcing the extensions cos of our league position.
