Our run in isn't too terrifying compared to everyone elses. Brighton and burnley away will make or break us.
I think our run is a mixed bag. I think Norwich, Bournemouth and West Ham have harder fixtures than us. West Ham still have to play Liverpool home and away, plus City, United, Arsenal and Spurs all away. I wasn't really considering West Ham a viable relegation candidate, but now I've seen their fixtures they could be in real trouble.
Yep. It's likely west ham away is going to be a huge match. I think our only certain loss is city at home. I wouldnt be suprised if we got something at united, chelsea and arsenal away. And I have a sneaking suspicion we might upset liverpool too. City have just broken us psychologically. We will never so much as draw with them in their current state.
I dread the thought of needing a result on the last day. Arsenalol and their wa*ker support will take great pleasure in relegating Deeney.
Seems like apart from Liverpool anyone can beat or get points off each other so can we rely on these big teams to beat our rivals? Basically if we are above 2 of West Ham, Villa, Brighton and Burnley come the final day we'll be ok?
They are vastly overrated and are only unbeaten for so long due to them receiving the most incredible amount of wrong decisions in their favour in the history of sport.
West Ham vs Villa last day. Hopefully we're safe and can sit back and enjoy it. Europe and Mid-table Mediocrity will have an impact too. I feel there's a team that will surprise Liverpool, they won't go unbeaten
I think their team last year was probably better than it is this year. They've been incredibly lucky and it's obvious that the media, FA and referees clearly are gagging for them to win the title. However, they do have a great mentality, can score goals throughout their team and most of all, have the best player in the world in defence. They're a bit like the (relatively) poor United sides in the 2000s which won the title because they had Ferdinand and Vidic in defence and an excellent manger to motivate the average but hardworking players.
Well their front 3 aren't bad but you do wonder what would happen if 2 of them got injured. They are lucky in that sense .. I agree they will probably slip up once the title is won.
They haven't looked like losing a league game all season. Closest anyone gets is a last minute chance for a draw which they **** up. Hopefully they'll have a CL game and rest the entire squad and play the Everton team instead.
If we are serious about getting out of this predicament we find ourselves, we need to win the 6 pointers; simple as that really. The result last night against Villa was poor but we have to win against Burnley, Brighton, Norwich and Wet spam. We need daylight between us and them.
Bloody hell! I bet you lot put your xmas decorations up in September! The most significant thing about the remaining fixtures is the number of games still to play. Each team has at least 14 games left -which, in my view, makes it far too soon to start thinking about possible scenarios. I'm not getting my calculator out until we've played 30!
Also whenever they've not had the cheating premier league refs in charge they've been beaten loads of times. Napoli x 2, dortmund, seville, sporting.... The cheating to get them to win the title is absolutely blatant in this country. The money to be made from them being champions is enormous. edit whoops just noticed 2 of those are friendlies. But still, the point stands.
As is relegating the small town teams from the PL and replacing them with the big city sides like Leeds.
19,17,11 bottom 3 points total after game week 24 in 2018/19 season 23,23,17 bottom 3 points total after game week 24 in 2019/20 season Not scientific but everything indicates that reaching 39/40 points this season will keep you in the PL. You would also probably get away with 38 points & a better goal difference, which is why clean sheets will be worth another point this season. Cannot afford any hammerings.
I love a conspiracy theory but I dont buy that one. It's all about international fan bases now, and leeds and watford are both equally irrelevant I reckon.
It’s easy for Klopp to keep his squad motivated when, unlike City his bench isn’t made up of £50m players who probably expect to start. More so, average (but hard working as above) players that wouldn’t walk into any other team in the “top 6” They’re clearly happy to play a bit part for a share of the prize Luckily for Klopp he hasn’t had to rely on bringing them in for long periods due to injuries
I don't know mate. Leeds went on a pre-season to Australia with the big boys and we ****ed about in a B&B in Austria playing a bunch of under 11 teams with just a passing bloke and his dog watching.
Well West Ham and Bournemouth have won there - otherwise they'd be below us. Even Arsenal got a point with 10 men!
Still gut wrenched about last night. Need some big wins for spurs, leicester and man utd tonight and Liverpool next week so we stand as-is in equal games. Could've done with losing to spurs and drawing to villa. It's going to be right to the wire I think.
Looking at that, the next 2 are big games for us. 4 points required I think. Brighton is a massive game.
We need about 1.2 points per game to do it. Its not rocket science, we had top 4 form over xmas which isnt going to last. The fact we had that run means we need 1.2 pointa per game not 1.5. The difference last nights result makes is that its harder to get to the comfort of 40-45 points before the season is over. In other words we may never be clear of danger, if we stay up its likely to be within 3 points of relegation.
Burnley 39 Brighton 34 Villa 31-34 Bournemouth 32 West Ham 39 Watford 40-47 Norwich 27 Come the end of the season we will all be laughing at most people’s hysteria.
So you think we would between 6 to 13 points from relegation by the end of the season? That's great. I hope so.
