The main reason QSF was given the job was three-fold.

    a) He was available

    b) He was renowned for being a great defensive minded coach - and let's be fair we were conceding like the Titanic was sinking,

    c) He was liked by the club and knew the players (some of them) prior to his previous stint as manager.

It didn't work out - and the choices made in such a limp display at Southampton second half more or less summed up his overall outlook,

I'm quite shocked about quite how much they love him on there. As a result, I'm going to give him my full support - until the 7th minute at Anfield when Mane gets his hat trick, then I'll start booing and calling him names.

On another note, I was enjoying that thread until 'super_horns' popped up talking ********. Who is he on here? I note that he puts spaces before full stops. There's a few on here that do that.

For those who are not too enamoured with the appointment of Pearson, just look at his track record when he was teamed up with Shakespeare.

    P 289 W 140 D 68 L 81 Pts 488 win ratio 48.44%. 1.68 points per game average.

Consider we are bottom of the league, we were turned down by 4 or 5 coaches by the looks of it and we're in a desperate mess. We need someone who will connect with the players and kick a few backsides were it's needed.

Remember how dignified he was after the play-off defeat to us and then managed to regroup his players to win promotion the following season. A great achievement

I think we're extremely lucky to have got Pearson and Shakespeare, who were both out of work and available to team up again. He's one of those coaches that clubs have forgotten about and I think they've missed a bit of a trick. This is a stars aligning moment. We're going to good for him and vice versa.

He's not everyone's cup of tea but I always felt the club was in good hands when he was here. Bonus that Shakey has joined him as well. First thing they will do is get rid of any bad apples and improve the fitness of the players

Now he just needs to sign Jake Cooper from Millwall in January. Make it happen.

Must say, having read that Leicester thread on the big man, it’s a pleasant change to be hiring somebody who’s apparently universally adored by a former club. Haven’t checked the Belgian club forum though.

    At first I thought this:

But now I'm more upbeat, especially as "Shakin" Shakespeare is onboard.

Welcome Mr Pearson. It's probably best that I refer to you as 'Mr Pearson' as you have a formidable reputation.
    You have my full support.
I believe we are going down but if you can shape this group of under performing, self entitled bunch of opiniated nit wits into a cohesive unit then we may come straight back up.
If you can do the same thing for the players, then even better!
    Best of luck!
    COHY.

He won’t keep us up - because nobody could.
Good luck to him. I hope he gives youth a chance and creates an ethic and a belief that could see us promoted next season.

The weird is, some of us also seemed to have forgotten about him in a way. OK, he was mentioned in passing by quite a few in that manager speculation thread as part of a list of uninspiring managers, most of which none of us wanted, but there were no feelings expressed towards him either way - it was Hughton and Clement that people were dead against, and Moyes and Hughes to a lesser extent, with only Sam deemed to be suitable (if reluctantly so) by many. At the time I looked him up on Wikipedia to remind me what he did, and the record looked impressive enough, the only qualms I had towards him being that he hasn't stuck around at any club or indeed managed for very long other than his two spells at Leicester (he started management in earnest relatively late, and was still primarily assistant/caretaker manager material when he joined Southampton), and he's not done much since Leicester sacked him (I didn't realize Shakespeare made such a difference).

Now, like a bolt out of the blue, he's reported to be joining us but with nothing confirmed by a long shot, and a few hours later after quite polarizing opinions, he's now our manager. It's been a surreal few days in the life of Watford FC but that's par for the course for our club under the Pozzos, especially in the last two years since Slither joined.

To anyone saying its a bad appointment.

1 - We need someone who has escaped from probable relegation.

    2 - who tf else?

3 - How much worse could this get?

Nice bit of confounding expectations there IBB - I thought you were talking about the players!

Oh wait...you probably still are (except for the opinionated bit, Deeney excepted).

I think you need to be more specific.

    First half?

Until he makes his first sub, or the full match?
