No...the main issue with Everton was that they made an acceptable official approach, which was refused. It was the continued approaches & indirect contacts with Silva & his team after that rejection that the club kicked up about.
There’s no problem making an upfront approach direct to a club’s hierarchy; just don’t continue if the answer is no.
Maybe Ainsworth could be a left-field option.

    Hughton ffs

Not only will we have to watch his awful football every week but we’ll also have to watch people constantly misspelling his name on here for the next 6 months.

Happy Birthday, you are around 60 days younger than me. Gino has decided to get you a new manager as a present.

Yes, but think about it. If you’re a club and Watford approach you to talk to their manager what are you going to do? Are you going to say yes immediately?Or are you going to say no, safe in the knowledge that we can’t come back in again.. or if we do we need to offer more compensation. It’s a an absolute win win for any club we approach and completely ****s us either way. Basically any club who know about the Everton situation (everyone) would be certifiably mad to say yes straight away.

All confidence is shot & defending leads does not cut it with these players whatsoever.

I would like to see a big name interim manager that is willing to play expansive football on a fixed term contract to the end of the season & then review everything then. We 100% need to roll the dice now & go full on because there is nothing to lose & it gives the best chance, however slim, of survival. Prefer to go out in a blaze of glory & be mathematically gone by Feb then string it all out to April.

More time to assess everything & most importantly there will be more/better managerial choices available in the summer.

Depends on the club & what agreement they have with their manager/head coach. Wycombe accepted an approach for Ainsworth earlier this season, but he decided to stay put. I take your point re: bigger clubs/ higher profile coaches, but I wonder if it’s worth trying another profile coach, as none of the conveyor-belt of mid-ranking continentals has shown any evidence of sustaining any level of performance.

I was. Lee was horrendous but short. I thought Perryman did okay with what he had. We scored a lot of goals from memory. Roeder was dull. Jacket had no money. None of those really frustrated me as much as the incompetence from top to bottom shown this season though.

What we need is is this seasons Silva who took over at Hull.

But obviously not Silva, and somebody slightly better than him that season who doesn’t capitulate in the last few games like he did.

Chris Hughton is the English Quique. There would be no point to this change.

I don’t see the issue so long as if we are rebuffed in any such attempts, that we accept it. If we offer an acceptable amount of compensation, then press ahead.
The issue wasn’t that Silva was in employment. It was that Everton didn’t accept ‘no’ as the answer and went underhand instead.

If we go from QSF to Hughton I won't be watching another game until he's gone which probably wouldn't be long.

Please just get Benitez in, offer him whatever he wants.

If Everton had never approached him, and he never showed his true colours so soon, do you think he would still be here? Let's face it under him at the
start of his tenure we were playing some good football, were hard to beat and the team looked well balanced.

It's a shame it ended so sour as it did. Now look where we are. Shame.

I thought Allardyce was the English Quique? Pulis is the Welsh Quique, Hughton can be the Irish Quique.

Problem is we have had managers before that have done that - Sannino? Mazzarri I bet too given his anger on the touch line. And our players have always downed tools. Pampered footballers don’t react well to being read the riot act.

We need a progressive young manager that the players and fans can buy into and who can unite the different factions at the club - owner, players, fans. It’s far too splintered at the moment and a manager coming in and shouting the odds would only go one way.

I still would like Lee Johnson from Bristol City or Thomas Frank from Brentford.

I love it (real meaning hate it) when the reflex postings on this thread trot out all the old names associated with defence-orientated dinosaur tactics. We are about to get rid of a coach who has been just that.
Hughton? Nice, honourable guy, but did you ever watch Brighton last season?
Keene? Nasty, dishonourable and a serial managerial failure.
Colin? Good manager for a certain type (all-action championship players) of squad, but I can't see our current squad being on anything like his wavelength. They just wouldn't understand him.
Moyes? Even looks like a loser.
Pulis? Actually could organise a defence but was found out when WBA's owners wanted to upgrade the football.
Fat Sam? Better than the previous and, sorry, but I like him; but would you really want his football? & can you imagine him and the Pozzos getting on together?
Why not Garth Crookes? aka the kingmaker. Could do a job.
Of all the billions of people in the World there must be some strong-minded, thoughtful and inventive up-and-coming football coach out there (must speak English clearly and not mumble).

I think with the benefit of hindsight the approach didn’t have much to do with it. He’s close to the sack at Everton with better players at his disposal. I think he’s just not very good.

Remember it took Silva a while to leave because he couldn't find his watch. His ego was dragging behind him as well. Does QSF have much baggage?
