Redmond to do his usual and turn into Messi against us.

    We will lose.

QSF will still be in charge even if we do.

The season is over. The players have no balls and know it. We know it, the board know it.

It’s just a matter of playing 25 remaining games because we have to.

The towel has been thrown in and you can see that on every single face associated with Watford.

If we lose this and then don't get at least one point out if our December fixtures, I am gonna start to accept that we are in trouble.

"No plan ahead of match against Southampton to change coaching staff so QSF et al remain despite defeat against Burnley. First day back training today. Source tells me mood still positive despite predicament. Onto the next one."

Excellent confirmation that we are down.

As others said, win Saturday vs a diabolical Southampton team and the cracks will be papered over, QSF gets more time and when he eventually gets the sack its far too late to have a chance at survival.

Lose and we are down anyway, lose lose situation.

The subs looked a bit desperate to me. He's just running out of options. Sarr was not suited to coming on in that situation, but he is a forward, so Hughes was sacrificed and was immediately missed. Whatever people may say on here about Hughes not playing well, I think they are missing out on what he does contribute.
It worries me that Sarr received the ball so little when he did come on. Was he hiding? I don't think so; but one would hope the coach has had enough time to integrate him into a system which uses him properly - I wonder if that is the case. Too many people are writing him off and I understand why, but we have seen very little of him (and I have to say aspects of what I have seen look promising, but only that.).

Who said this? "We won by being prepared to lose".

Graham Taylor after we smashed Southampton 4-1 at The Dell in 1983. QFS Flores do with taking a leaf out of his book.

Genuine question - do the players always have 2 days off after a match? I thought it was just the Sunday they would have off? Why would they not get together on a Monday as usual course and then with the predicament we are in, they should be in anyway, at least working on tactics etc.

As far as I'm aware no, they don't usually get two days off after. I was under the impression that they came in the day after a match for a warm down session, though that might be down to the individual manager's preference. Interesting to consider when you think that one of the (supposed) leaked reasons for Quique being let go the first time round was a lack of discipline that manifested itself in ways such as allowing Troy to skip training sessions for media engagements...

They worked really hard on Saturday, and were exhausted after keeping Burnley down to just three goals. I'm amazed we didn't give them more recovery time off.

The club need to sort out the schedule for the players better. They trained Friday, day off Saturday, trained Sunday, day off Monday, trained Tuesday.

His reputation was always overblown on here. People preferred to focus on his Europa Cup win from five years before he managed us than the disappointing spells in the Gulf and Getafe that immediately preceded his appointment. He was a coach on a downward spiral who needed to rebuild his reputation, as all of ours have been under the Pozzos (other than Silva).

I hope that if we go down, they plump for a young, up and coming coach with a clear game plan and new ideas but I won't hold my breath.

I will be there on Saturday as usual, more in hope than expectation but as a supporter what else can you do? I will give it everything, my mates will give it everything, hope the players do too, "We're Watford and we're staying up!"

Good write up, especially with enthusiasm in this forum at an understandably all time low.

I’m down for another write up in the new year but if it carries on this way don’t see any point, we might as well close the forum and startup again next year.

the only fun left for us anymore is bating the grammar police over there lack of humour

The Yates Bar, it's one of the designated away pubs. I'll be there from 14.00ish

Fear not if do not wish enter that hell hole. I'll be heading up to a fair few more home games before the season ends.

Even if we win this, it would mean having to get a point at Leicester at least, then beating Palarse. Because after that it's Anfield and we will get a pasting.
seven points from the next three gives us 15pts and keeps us in touch but even that is heavily dependant on other results. Villa winning Monday was a terrible
result for us - but what they do is totally out of our hands.

If we had kept our heads and beaten Gravel Head's Bore Boys, them beating Newcastle would not of changed much. The fact Snake cant' even beat Norwich is amazing really.
I fully expected Norwich and Southampton to lose their respective games, but then again why hope other teams will do us a favour when we cannot even do our part half the time?
Southampton is a hard place to go. We should of lost their last season, and were lucky that Holebas got that late goal.

Believe me, they will be more up for it than we will, happy by a decent point at Arsenal will have helped their confidence. If we want any chance of getting something out of this game, we will
probably have to get a good start and then stay on the front foot for as long as possible. A point will feel like a defeat - as we have Leicester away afterwards and we are not getting anything
from that game the way they are playing.

    It's a very worrying predicament.

    Southampton 2 Watford 1

This why beating Burnley was a must win match. Two wins on the spin, not only would have given us 6 points and closed the gap, it would have instilled belief in the players and fans.

The defeat at Burnley was so crushing. All hope is now gone. Only the mathematical equation is on our side, but we all know a team that can only win once in the past 17 Premier League games, is hardly likely to win 10 of its next 25.

It's now hope against all logic, defying the odds in order to win at Leicester and Liverpool. That's not going to happen. They will both be heavy defeats in all likelihood. Even if we do beat Southampton, we'll only make a small dent in closing down 17th place. Even winning two of our next four will not be enough to make too much impact.

Basically, if we are to survive, we need to be perfect now. We have to beat everyone we are supposed to from now on until the end of the season. There's no real reason why we would suddenly change from a misfiring, under performing side into one that's a strong winning machine. We are mentally weak and with a coach who sets us up to not get beat, rather than actually trying to win, the chances are slimmer still.

Baring a football miracle, similar to Leicester winning the league, we have to face it. We're down this season. It's now all about trying to bounce back, use the rest of the rest as an experiment in order to find the perfect blend of youth and experience. I'd actually be happy to see some of the U23's given a run, just to see how they cope with it all. That will stand us in good stead for the future.

The only good thing from this season is the games do not really matter anymore. There is no jeopardy, no getting nervous, nothing to get anxious about, which I quite like actually. Was anyone really bothered when the ref gave Burnley the VAR penalty? Nope, people around me at the game were just accepting with a shrug of the shoulders. This is what the players/owners/coaches have achieved. They created something no one cares about anymore.

Let's just get this season out of the way and come back stronger next season in a league where we might even win a lot of games. After all, that's what we all like to see.

I’m so tired of watching us.

The players could not care less, they know they’ll be off in the summer regardless. We have ignored our youth players for years who are the ones you actually want to do well on the pitch.

Flores is our worst manager of my lifetime, I hated him then and I hate him even more now. Negative. Limited. Uninspiring. Unmotivating. There were times in his first season where I remember thinking we’ve lost the game before the players have even walked onto the pitch. It’s the same this time round, nothing has changed.

Had enough of the Pozzos / Giraldi completely neglecting our needs and focussing on their failing scouting system. I watched the interview with Cucho the other day and it revealed we have 4 Columbian players out on loan, none of which I have ever heard of course. They run us like an old brothel.

There really isn’t much to like. How can we ever expect to see any form of togetherness or team spirit when everyone is just passing through. People on here love to slate Bournemouth but they have done it right and done very well. They have kept the same nucleus for years dating back to league 1 and added key British additions along the way and invested wisely. I would bite your hands off to have their set up. With British managers / players they know exactly what it means to play football and represent a team in this country and will give it their all regardless. I don’t care how skillful these South Americans / Spanish players are they’re just not up for it unless the sun is shining.

Well it's true Flores hasn't been great but not sure he has even been the worse manager of the Premier league spell?

He generally did ok till our usual end of season dip albeit the football wasn't that entertaining but when was it last ?

Mad Walter comes to mind as being worse .

Actually think we have had the same sort of squad for a whille - which is part of the problem!

No improvement in the defence or attacking options .

All ageing , unfit or just not very good .

Any youngsters seem to come with hype or exception but fail miserably .
