Nope. A slow start with clumsy touches throughout. Difficult to say how he did defensively because Hull were very poor, they offered no real threat going forward, but his tackling was clumsy at times and close control erratic. He didn't overlap very often considering the space made by Hungbo and after crossing for the second goal by supporting/overlapping it seemed a wasted opportunity not to do so more often. He took his goal well but for a seasoned pro against such weak opponents he didn't stand out as such. Prodl started well, communicated nicely with the young centre-back Hudson throughout. Snuffed out the high ball easily against a much smaller forward and passed well out of defence to begin with before floating aimless/misdirected balls to nobody as the 2nd-half progressed when short passes were usually there either wide or through the middle. Considering he missed a lot of football through injury in the second half of last season it wasn't so surprising Prodl faded as the game went on but Zeegelaar just looked like a jobbing pro for the most part.
Following last weeks 5-1 drubbing of a weakened Bolton Wanderers side, the u18s this morning beat Birmingham City 4-0. It was City's first game of the season. Last weeks scorers were James Matthews, JJ McKiernan, Dominic Hutchinson, Jordan Harrison & Sonny Blu Lo-Everton. Hutchinson (2), Ryan MacLean & Matthews were the scorers today.
Same guy who scored previously : https://mobile.twitter.com/WatfordF...8?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
Max Thompson leaves Chelsea after being offered a contract there and signs a 2 year here. Watched him a few times at Chelsea and can’t wait to see more of him. Playing for the U18’s he has already scored against Bolton in their opening game of the season.
We certainly seem to be scooping up some young talent. If one or two of these go on to sell for Lukebakio size fees then it'll be proved to be a very wise strategy.
Opened the window, snuck this guy in and then slammed it shut again. Gino does it again. Comes alive in the window don’t he!!!??
Good luck to the lad. Would be great to see some of these youngsters make it through to our first team
With Deeney at the club this poor lad will see retirement before he’s given a run of games, no matter how good he is.
That was Jeff Thomson aged 69. An Australian with no links with Watford, the Pozzos or football. Different man.
I know this is going to be controversial, but I am prepared to wager that Deeney will be dropped from the first team before his 50th birthday.
Dan Phillips to Hemel Hempstead for 6 months. They play in the Isthmian League Premier Division. Combative central midfielder, 18 years old, excellent opportunity. Harry Hudson to Cray Wanderers for 1 month. They play in the National League South. Calm centre back, also 18 years old. Good experience, also allows the two new centre backs (Barrett & Spencer-Adams) to bed in. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/under-23s/official-loan-deals-agreed-two-under-23s
