Not the job for Lampard. Chelsea have a transfer ban and an owner who isn't allowed in the country currently so may not hang around for much longer and they are going to lose Hazard. He's done at Derby what everybody seems to do at Derby. Be in amongst it but fail to go up. Lets see how he builds on that next season. I would love him to do well but Chelsea is not the right club to go to at the moment

As I said in a further reply on the thread, you need to look closer at what he’d do with Chelsea and what he’s done with Derby. It’s easy to say what you’ve said about his year at Derby - static. But last season they had Vydra, top-scorer and sold him off to be replaced by Marriott from P’boro and Waghorn who generally flattered to deceive. He’s brought through some of their own youth and also adopted a good style with decent loaners. It was a very hard job to improve on previous seasons placings as he wasn’t given the same set of parameters.

Chelsea find themselves in a similar water next year and the one after. Lampard knows the surroundings, the staff, the players (some senior, most youth).

I’m not one to normally think these kinds of moves are good for a club. But I think Chelsea will be missing a trick.

It is the same Derby season as the last 6 or 7 seasons. I'm not saying that Lampard isn't or won't be a good manager but one season with a club that finishes in the top 5-8 every season does not warrant a job at a club like Chelsea and as I said, a Chelsea who cannot sign anybody and are about to lose their best player. He would be better off staying where he is and getting more experience

Isn’t the point that Chelsea standards must be lowered due to transfer ban and the fact owner wants to sell? 6th slot is par so perfect year for Lampard to learn the ropes before expectations go up again.
