Manager of the season? Javi not even in the running. If we win the FA Cup and finish 9th, from a side that were everyone's tip for relegation, I think he deserves to be there. Poch is likely to go out in the semi and Klopp is likely to win nothing. If we win the FA Cup, then only Watford and Man City would have actually won something domestically this season from the EPL.
Well a lot of pundits were suggesting Warnock of Cardiff had stayed up . Probably be whoever wins the league as usual .
It’s a Premier League prize though so the FA Cup run won’t be a part of the consideration. Basically, the winner of our game with Wolves on the 27th also won a nomination for this.
Good point re FA Cup. However, I think Nuno would have been above Gracia regardless of Wolves' final position. I think the fact they took points off a lot of top sides in their first season was the reason he was chosen.
Yes, the manager with the largest resources and best players, deserves to win...…..!!! I think they should apply some kind of final position against wages, as a key factor in deciding who should win this. Basically the manager getting the most bang for buck from his team.
Aggred - think Moyes won it once when Everton came 4th and Steve Coppell when Reading finished 8th in their season.
Wolves manager to win it, no debate really. We'll finish 11th if we lose to West Ham, not surprising that Javi wasn't nominated.
I think a true Manager of the Season award should encompass all competitions that a manager has competed in. If Liverpool win the league and Champions League, then Klopp should win. If Liverpool come runners up in EPL and CL, then he shouldn't win. If Spurs win the CL as well as finishing top 4, then Poch should win. If Spurs lose the CL then he shouldn't win. If Man City win the league and FA Cup, then Pep should win as City would have won the treble. If City fail to win the league then he shouldn't win, even if they pick up both domestic trophies. Wolves have already finished 7th, and this may or may not qualify them for European football. I thinks it worthy of being mentioned as a notable achievement, but not enough to win the manager of the season award. If Watford win the FA Cup and finish 9th, again, it's another notable achievement, probably better than Wolves, but not worthy of winning the manager of the season award. However, I consider Watford's potential achievement better than Wolves, or at the very least on par with them. If Nuno is nominated, then so should Javi......IMO. I think Pep will win overall, as I believe City will win the treble.
So the FIFA world coach of the year award then? It's not really surprising premier league manager of the year focuses on....the premier league.
Will the manager finishing 11th in the EPL have a chance of winning it though? Certainly a bigger achievement than Wolves IMO
Should be calculated by dividing the league position by transfer spend in the last 2 windows. Then doing something clever with pi.
Zola of the Premier League. No plan b. A questionable plan a. Thinks we played well in a 6-0 defeat in a cup final. Delusional. Get rid.
Game plan A: Play 4-4-2 no matter the opposition, take off Deulofeu after an hour despite being by far our most dangerous attacker, bring Success on for the final 5-10 minutes, stand on the touchline looking gormless and confused Game plan B: What?
What gets me is that versus wolves he looked like he had a plan by saving deulofeu till later. It was a masterstroke. Then in every single match since he's been absolutely brainless. Really strange.
I think he's capable of keeping us up next season. Nothing more. This season was a fluke, exposed at the end for what he is, a nice man who didn't make our precious players down tools until April for once.
“This has aged well” is the go to quote for 2019. If you don’t use it, then you’re not in with the groovy kids.
That was an accident, Gray scored for like three home games in a row I think? Including the quarter-final winner at Palace. He had to play him.
Javi Gracia isn’t actively considering leaving Watford, however if he was to receive an ‘interesting proposal’ then a move away wouldn't be ruled out. He’s open to hearing news from his agent. Real Betis and Sevilla have shown an interest in Gracia. [@Estadio_ED] #watfordfc
Adam LeventhalVerified account @AdamLeventhal Re Sevilla wanting #WatfordFC head coach Javi Gracia at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium - I have been told from key source at Sevilla that rumours are unfounded & there is absolutely nothing in the story.
Local media indicates they want to announce their manager very soon which would probably put paid to that. Betis also have a managerial vacancy, though not an awful lot of talk on Gracia as of yet from what I've seen
