And he’s trying to barge past him so that he knows he’s been barged past iyswim. Still a rubbish red card and an utter crybaby to complain to the ref he’d been elbowed.
Can Pawson in his report state that at the time he thought it was a red due to the elbow but now he has seen it he realises it is only a yellow? If he is willing to put a positive slant on it then the appeal would be helped.
Cathcart didn't put a foot wrong all game and actually had one of our best efforts of the game too. Countless times he made crucial interceptions due to his positioning, made some great blocks, excellent long balls and organised the defence well. Kabasele was nowhere near Craig's level last night. I mentioned that we dominated the midfield and thought both Doucoure and Hughes were very good but made the wrong decision quite a few times, something Cathcart and Capoue didn't do much of, hence why I called them magnificent. I love Ben Foster and think he is brilliant, but the goal was obviously his fault so if it hadn't have been for his moment of madness we would have not conceaded and therefore not lost.
I really don't understand how ratings are worked out. The 10 WFC players worked hard a performed well for 80mins, how have they got lower ratings than the AFC players? Also how does TD get 5.2? https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1284950/Live/England-Premier-League-2018-2019-Watford-Arsenal
And but for Ben's moment of madness Troy wouldn't have needed to try to lift the team and fans by clattering Toreira and we would have won - comfortably. Sliding doors....
You cannot blame just Foster. Had that not gone in then the whole game may have been different. Deeney may not have got sent off or Arsenal could have played much better and won 3-0. Had Gray taken his chance, had Success not been terrible, had Hughes shot instead of passing, had the ref not had a stinker, had Cathcart scored. There are errors all the way through a game and yes it's monumental balls up but there are other factors on why we lost. I mention Cathcart as I've seen many of your posts about him and it seems as though he's in the Bobby Moore league. I think he's had a good season and is very dependable and he is probably the best defender at the club. I do agree about Capoue though, probably his best performance in a Watford shirt
I didn't expect you to be so literal about my post. Foster deserves most of the blame for the defeat then. It's the same as Wolves fans saying it was Dendoncker's fault they lost the semi-final, they obviously don't mean that no-one else was to blame. I certainly don't think Cathcart is a world beater, nor do I think he'd play for any of the top 6 (bar probably Arsenal and possibly United as neither of those teams have very good CBs). I do however think he has been brilliant this season and is one of the main reasons we are doing so well.
Fosters save second half against mickeymousearyten was awesome. And I hate to say it but Gomes wouldn’t have saved that, that’s the main difference between the two.
Anyone know why Kabasele went off to change his boots? Had they broken somehow? It reminded me of the time he decided to sit down mid defending. He could be a very intelligent man, but he comes across as the complete opposite at times.
He'd put them on the wrong feet - left boot on right foot and right boot on left. He does it quite often, apparently - someone usually checks them for him before he goes out on to the pitch, but with all the excitement about Z cars being dropped they forgot to look
You get a point for every 100 pointless sideways pass, 0.25 a point for bottling a challenge, 5 points for starting, 0.5 points for being captain and minus 0.3 for a red card.
You get a negative adjustment for losing and a positive one for winning. This set of results is a good example of how flawed the rankings are. Deeney ranking in the same ballpark as Gray. Genius.
The Telegraph reporter (Sam Dean) gave three Arsenal players seven and no Watford player above a six. Pathetic.
For real? What game were all the non Watford fans watching? Why, in this instance, was it so hard to just lavish praise on the team? Ten men for 80 minutes. 0-0 for that 80 with us having as many good chances, as much of the ball etc. Why am I so riled about last nights game!? It’s got to me this one! Hope the players are going to take it out on Huddersfield!!
I feel the same EB. I was proud of the performance last night and I still am. However having seen the highlights I've become more frustrated about how the match evolved, especially after hearing that Pawson has had a few other poor games this season.
Yeah I was and am still very proud of the performance of the team last night, passion, hard work and matched a top 6 side with one man less.
It was a reprise of his Old Trafford cameo, where he came on late, made some mistakes, fell over, protested, gave away a free kick, etc.
He should write R on his right boot and L on his left boot. Just like the essex girl who had C&A written on the inside of her knickers
Troy was an idiot. That ref has been making big team decisions all year On MOTD, or at least it seems like it. He’s fallen for their right back diving in the first few minutes. Surely something has got to click in Troy’s brain that this is a ref itching for the opportunity? Fair play to the rest of the team for putting the shift in but that was stupid and naive. Let’s hope throwing away that game in hand advantage over Wolves doesn’t screw us. Or our players are not tired and missing 5% at the weekend.
Tje Times also gave a higher aggregate rating to the Arsenal players. But the Sky pundits were very complimentary about us.
So whats the word on bans, appeals etc etc. Gray has been playing well recently but only alongside Deeney. On his own, Grays weaknesses are exacerbated in strength like a fart under the duvet.
It probably isn't worth appealing and the FA might even add an extra game on if they think it's a frivolous appeal.
That’s a consideration but a pretty small one. There’s been literally only a handful of extended bans for frivolous appeals in over a decade.
You could go either way with this, something classic from Spice Girls song book or something heavier from the seminal post punk album Pink Flag by Wire. If we re feeling morose then something from Watfords own Morissey-a-like , Martin Rossiter and Gene.
its funny what a difference 12 months make. he was doing the same last season and a lot in the forum wanted him out. I suppose scoring winners in 3 matches against clubs we don't like much helps a bit.
...or Bennie and The Jets but replacing the lyrics with "Deeney and The Reds", alongside footage of all Troys sending offs on the big screens... ... the video done in a sentimental , slow motion, style, the final shot showing Troy in a prison cell wistfully penning a letter to Gino asking for his job back, framed in homage to the scene in "The Hurricane " where Denzel pens letters to the authorities protesting the horiffic injustice of his incaceration.
How about the theme from the SMASH advert. " Born Smash Get Smash" all the players can come out dressed as cardboard robots.
What's odd for me is that the assistant clearly seems to indicate to the ref, when he asks, that it's an elbow. So why has he not flagged immediately the incident happened? He seems to be guessing.
Yes agree with this. CC has been absolutely top notch this season and for his absolute reliability and consistency, he's my vote for POTS at the moment, just pipping Capoue and Deulofeu.
You only have to look at it to realise it's cobblers. Mavroponolopolis (sp?) as good as Cathcart? Success as good as Capoue? Hmmmm . Jimmy Hill...as we used to say at school whilst stroking an imaginary goatee.
