More than N'Dong? At least he has turned out for us. I was one of those who could see the purpose in signing him as a backup, but even I have to admit to have not even seen him play a single second has been disappointing.
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-target-for-fortuna-dusseldorf-reports-claim/ Dusseldorf want to make the loan permanent, but if the €20m figure is correct, I suspect that will price them out of the market.
Will you have the will power to hold off from insulting the Dusseldorf fans for long enough to be able to glean the required information? Or do you intend to torture them?
Well, I definitely nailed this one as I watch him slot in yet another classy goal in the Bundesliga, this time against unbeaten league leaders Dortmund...
….and here is the goal. I wish we had a player that could play on the shoulder and be clinical in 1 v 1 situations. https://twitter.com/i/status/1075130682681241600
I was of the mind that we shouldn’t interrupt his progress and keep him there. But with every passing week where he scores and we persevere with the strikers we have, I’m leaning more towards selling a couple of them and bringing him back in January. Will be ‘peak’ Watford though to have a striker scoring plenty elsewhere and for us to deal with watching the rubbish we have up top. Pozzo model etc etc Gray and Okaka out and Lukebakio recalled - no one would shed a tear.
It would be interesting to see what they do with Lukebakio. He’s probably surprised everyone being quite so effective. These are not crap sides he’s scoring against. He’s scoring against established Champions League sides. Traditionally, the Pozzos do not like moving players that are having a good season and are happy in their environment. I would be very surprised if we recalled him, plus like SLB said, it depends on whether there is a recall clause in his contract. It’s more likely we’ll sell him to D*sseldorf, if they can afford him. Having said that, trying to second guess what Gino would do, is often a futile exercise.
The rate he’s scoring at I suspect it maybe too expensive for them. If he really is that good I’m fairly convinced he will be here next season unless a silly bid comes in for him
I imagine we will value him way beyond Dusseldorf's budget; Richarlison's fee set the bar for a young emerging winger. The club is sitting on a goldmine of young talent.
You’re probably correct, but bigger German clubs will be on high alert. It’s always a judgement call. When I saw him in pre-season he looked a little lightweight for the Premier League. It’s probably the club’s take on it also, hence loaning him out. He’s clearly developing nicely where he is, but if he’s turning into a pacey striker who can actually remain cool in the vital moment, then he would be a massive asset. I could see him fitting in nicely with the squad, playing the Gray role when we play sides that hold a high defensive line. Success and Deeney are the brute force, Lukebakio and Gray could be the pace to stretch sides. It’s a good selection to have, alongside Penaranda. We could easily afford to offload Okaka as we don’t really need him. Both Deeney and Success are way ahead of him in terms of physical striker.
Did something change in our recruitment strategy recently or have we just got lucky? From Obbi to Lukie seems a huge shift.
It would appear we met our quota on the junk stock when signing Kums, Obbi etc. We’ve been given access to the exclusive stuff now. Crafty Gino.
What’s going on? I thought this guy was a dud, based on around 20 minutes of game time for us and the fact he didn’t come in as a 20 year old from another country and command a place in the starting 11? Ok, well let’s get back to another one then, Penaranboooooooooooooo
Bring him home. If we sell before giving the lad a chance to show what he can do in the Prem shop window it will be criminal. Full of confidence for the run in. Perfect!
I'm sure he will stay there for the season. But hopefully we see him here next year, looks to be exactly what we need. A striker who can finish!
Lukie played Dortmund this weekend. Dortmund is the Newcastle of Germany (albeit rather spruced up since the unpleasantness). More proletariat than agrarian serfs.
Yes, just because you can find your way to some of these middle of nowhere training grounds does not necessarily mean you can find your way to the back of the net!
According to this website, he won't be staying at Dusseldorf next season. It then speculates he's unlikely to feature here next season and wants Champions League football. https://bulinews.com/news/1957/watf...-at-dusseldorf-amid-bvb-and-gladbach-interest It says we'll want €20m for him and Dortmund and Gladback are interested.
Hopefully we negotiate a deal that sees one of their CBs come this way, that would be outstanding business. More chance of getting one of the Gladbach CBs than the Dortmund ones though (Ginter would be my choice)
€20-25m and a sizeable sell on clause would be good business. Would have thought given his good Season we could squeeze upwards of €30m though for his age and ability to improve still.
