I have 2 tickets for this match I now can't use. One adult and one U16. PM me your address and you can have them. I don't want anything for them.

After the game on Saturday I think I fall into this category. It can't be as bad as Millwall can it?

I honestly don't think anything can be as bad as Millwall and I've been going close to 40 years

It can't be. Plus you may get to see the second and final sighting of the lesser spotted Penaranda in WFC kit.

I think Orient at home in about 1980 was close to Millwall.
    Strong team please.

Shrewsbury away in 1991 was the worst away cup defeat I've experienced.

Will be disappointed if we don't put out a full strength team, this year is as good a year as any to progress in the competition, we are nicely positioned in the league so why play an under strength team in the cup and go out in a whimper!

Always wondered - do managers of Premiership clubs second guess each others' cup team intentions or do they have a 'secret' chat to agree to put out their first teams, reserve teams or a mixture?

Palace can't score at home, they only get goals away at teams in the top 2

I’ve often wondered this: you rarely get a proper first team vs 10 changes. Often feels like a huge coincidence when both sides, especially when it’s two from the Prem, make virtually the same number. Pretty convinced that some sort of feelers are put out, probably at Club Secretary level, or whatever such people are called nowadays.

My first season was 79/80 and only towards the end as well but losing 3-0 at Orient cannot have been great!

We won’t put out a full team. I don’t think we will put out anything near our strongest either. Beating Reading, taking Spurs the distance and beating Woking will have earned the fringe players another run out in Gravy’s mind, I’m certain of it. You only have to look at his comments pre and post those games to know which way he’ll go here.

Isn’t the etiquette for top 7 teams to go full strength only in the quarters?

I saw the game at Brisbane Road on Boxing Day (1980?) when Peter Taylor was also playing for them

The thing is, away to Newcastle isn't easy, however the chances would be that if we get through we could well get a home tie which is very winnable and before you know it we are in the 6th round!

    Quite likely.
I don't recall Stanley,he would have come in handy! Chiedoze possibly.
The one I remember was at The Vic. I think we drew at Brisbane Road 1-1,Luther scored early and we missed it as we were late arriving.
I'm not sure this was in the same season as the 0-3.

Brisbane Road in 1970 was my first away game.
    1-1 draw
Goal from Ron Wigg (having checked)

I remember a Boxing Day trip when the pre-match entertainment was listening to the just realeased SuperTrooper LP by ABBA in full, twice.

I think the 0-3 was in feb of the 79-80 season and the 1-1 boxing day was the 80-81 season

    It's a must win game. A real six-pointer.
