If the rumours are to be believed Janmaat was on his way out of the club in the early part of the summer transfer window with a return to Holland seemingly on the cards. Now he is the number one choice for the number two shirt at Watford and he's retained his place in the Dutch (provisional) squad for the internationals at the start of September. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...rd-defender-called-up-for-holland-friendlies/ Daryl Janmaat has been included in the provisional Netherlands squad for upcoming friendly matches against Peru and World Cup winners France. The first international break of the 2018/19 season arrives on the back of Watford’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road on September 2. Janmaat, who has started both of Watford’s games so far this season, will hope to be part of the games after being included in Ronald Koeman’s initial 34-man selection for the duo of fixtures. The Netherlands’ international commitments start with home game against Peru on Thursday, September 6 before they travel to France three days later.
According to this Dutch website, Janmaat is out for 6 weeks. Haven't heard this anywhere else though, and for all I know this website could be the Dutch version of hitc.com. Then again, we know how secretive Watford are when it comes to news about injuries.......... If it's true, lets hope none of the understudies pick up knocks tonight: https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/blessure-houdt-janmaat-buiten-selectie-nederlands-elftal Google translate: Daryl Janmaat is a notable absentee in the selection of the Dutch national team. However, that has nothing to do with his sporting performance, but with a knee injury. The 29-year-old Janmaat is operated on a meniscus injury and can not be used for about six weeks. The international matches against Germany (13 October) and Belgium (16 October) are therefore too early. For that reason, Janmaat was not included by Ronald Koeman in the preselection of the Dutch squad. Janmaat is working on a very strong season with Watford. The club is pretty fourth and Janmaat can not be forgotten from the base. Koeman has now included Kenny Tete, Hans Hateboer and Timothy Fosu-Mensah as right backs in his preliminary selection.
Oh dear. 6 weeks = 3 and a half months with our clowns. And so it begins. Delefeou shambles the appetiser for what is to come.
Shame the player is injured, and I want him to recover quickly, however, I don't think it will have a negative impact on the side. I was hoping Kiko would have been selected on Saturday instead of him anyway. Now it looks like that will happen.
I really don't think Gracia see's Kiko as a RB. Hasn't played him there once since coming in. Navarro didn't let himself down last night and if he's fit, would fully expect him to replace Janmaat if needed.
https://www.101greatgoals.com/news/...efore-arsenal-daryl-janmaat-is-out-for-weeks/ Out for 5-6 weeks with meniscus injury
Injury disappointment aside, it's fantastic that for the first season something like this isn't a massive setback and we have a capable replacement! Same with strikers with the renewed form of Success, and we have an abundance of midfielders. Definitely need Kabs back though. Too short at CB right now. Need that appeal to come good.
That'll be near 200 days injured for Janmaat since he joined over 6 different injuries. Man's made of glass.
He didn't but he's pretty inexperienced. Only 31 games in La Liga, only made his debut there 18 months ago.
I know. I just don’t think we convinced Navarro to leave Espanyol for us by telling him he’d be 3rd choice at RB. I fully expect to see him get a run of games now. I’d play Kiko personally but I don’t think Gracia sees him as a defender.
Will this be his Kaboul moment? Not sure we’ll ever see him in a yellow shirt again. Or alive, for that matter.
A chance for the medical team to show that they aren’t miles behind the curve. Injury is “up to 6 weeks” so let’s give them 8 to be generous. Will Janmaat be available for selection for Liverpool at home on 24th November? I’m going for Gracia saying “he is training but not yet ready to train with the first team”
Doubtless doing their very best to keep him out for another month or two - or at least until Kiko loses a bit of form.
His amputation is scheduled for this afternoon and a run-out for the U-23’s some time around March 2021.
Numan is forever seared onto my brain following those unsavoury stomach pump rumours that did the rounds years ago.
There was the Dutch international Arthur Numan. Hopefully he is back in the squad soon. Was in superlative form and we need competition to keep Kiko on his toes.
Kiko been way short of his excellent performances last season. Id imagine Jan Maat to be back for Liverpool game after international break.
Had a pop at the whingy Newcastle fans yesterday. They're not happy about it (surprise, surprise, something else to moan about). Janmaat was asked what it was like to play at Vicarage Road. “It’s massively different to my former club, Newcastle fans expect too much and can moan quickly.” He's not said anything that's not true though. Newcastle fans are the biggest bunch of moaners in English football. Always have been. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...aryl-janmaat-takes-unnecessary-swipe-15448540
Blimey they must have been on Twitter searching those quotes last night knowing he was there . Just answered a question I think in an honest way - and he's hardly going to say they are better fans than us in front of our own .
I agree. Just my opinion, but I think we’ve stunted Femenia’s progress as a fantastic RB by playing him as a winger so often. Couple that with his injury and I don’t think he’s as good a RB right now as he should be. I think he’s played there by default recently due to injuries to others. The evidence points to the fact that Gracia see’s him more as a winger, which I disagree with.
