Seeing some reports in Russian, that Watford are after CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov. Apparently we've made a bid of €5m. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fedor-chalov/profil/spieler/287183 He's number one in the top 10 young strikers in Europe. https://www.football365.com/news/top-ten-young-goalscorers-in-europe-in-2018 Highlights of how he plays He would be a typical Pozzo signing. Young, has bags of potential and relatively cheap to sign.
Rumours on twitter we have offered €5m which is a fair bit below what CSKA are looking. Looks an exciting prosect, 20 years old and currently top scorer in the Russian Premier League 20 goals in 47 league games according to wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fyodor_Chalov
I’m not sure he will be cheap as many of those same reports are saying ‘our offer’ is nowhere near what they’d want for him.
A few twitter accounts are claiming we've gone as far as meeting his agent to discuss the move - but CSKA want £13m+. So I'd say our opening (supposed) offer of €5m wouldn't even warrant them turning the fax machine on.
I'm sure we have met his agent. This is where Watford are stealing a march on their rivals. We're prepared to do the dirty work in places like South America and Russia. Notorious for doing things a little differently. You have to be a confident set-up to be prepared to swim in these murky waters. I think other clubs will be prepared for Watford to make the move, and if they turn out to be good players, they'll come in with a bigger bid in order to sign them, as per Richarlison. Watford took all the risk, had to arrange the work permit and prepare the path to bring him from Brazil to England, but earned the reward at the end of it.
He would love to come here. St Albans cathedral and Verulamium are amongst the many nearby attractions for Russian tourists.
Not to mention the city in Hertfordshire,[2] England, and the major urban area in the City and District of St Albans. It lies east of Hemel Hempstead and west of Hatfield, about 20 miles (32 km) north-northwest of central London, 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Welwyn Garden City and 11 miles (18 km) south-southeast of Luton. St Albans was the first major town on the old Roman road of Watling Streetfor travellers heading north, and it became the Roman city of Verulamium. It is a historic market town and is now a dormitory town within the London commuter belt and the Greater London Built-up Area. This is very popular with people from Russia.
Oh what could have been for that lad. His career burst into flame and then fizzled out due to injury I believe.
Yes, he and Gilligan looked like they'd lead the line for us for years having come through the ranks but it didn't work for either. That kaiserslautern game will never be forgotten though. Gilligan is now U23 coach at Nottm F.
Dobro pozhalovat' v Watford Fedor. It's difficult to prise players away from the RPL given the salaries some are on. Golovin is the sole player to have moved this summer to Monaco who have a Russian owner while Cheryshev has grown up in Spain and plays for Villareal. We would have to pay a pretty penny to get him. However he and Stuparevic would get on well together. Brothers in arms.
You have to walk through the independent financial advisers to get to the midlands moneymen. A strange speakeasy vibe.
More East Midlands? Odd that Filbert from Lesta called himself a northerner. But yes, plainly a money laundering scam based on their close analysis of Russian tourist travel patterns.
A little bit more on this story http://sportwitness.co.uk/fyodor-chalov-watford-ready-offer-e5m-agents-say-transfers/
Sounds like it would be difficult trying to decipher who his actual agent is, whilst the hangers-on all try and claim their pound of flesh from any deal. Either way, 5 million euros sounds well off.
He scored a good goal last night against (a weakened) Real Madrid at the Bernabeu as CSKA won 3-0. However, CSKA still finished bottom of the group so haven't even progressed to the Europa League - I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he'd be, and he's still pretty young, but he certainly seems a feasible option now.
We should not be even considering strikers who play first team football for teams that don't even reach the group stages of the champs league or UEFA cup. We are no longer tinpot.
