The man behind Harry the Hornet has announced on Twitter that he is, effective immediately, stepping down from his role as the character. https://twitter.com/1HHornet/status/1040229877738336256 I would personally like to thank him for his efforts and energy over the past what must be a decade. He's been a lot of fun and has even been in the national media spotlight a few times. I sincerely hope the role will be taken up by someone equally fitting. They've got big shoes to fill - in more ways than one.
Gareth/Harry has been the best mascot in the country for several years. In the last little while, the club & the team have been catching up with his standards. My lads started at almost exactly the same time as Gareth & always enjoyed his maverick performances. Gareth, good luck as Toffeeman!
There's more to this than meets the eye. I wonder if his dive, long long after the players had left the field after the Palace match was anything to do with it. Either way I feel he's been pushed rather than jumped. Gareth you were legendary.
Watford Forum suddenly up for sale due to "other commitments" and Harry the Hornet job suddenly vacant. Coincidence?
I remember a while ago (perhaps back in the Summer?) he changed his Twitter account from one in the capacity of 'Harry' to a personal one. I seem to remember him citing that he'd acquired many more commitments over the past year or so. I know he was coming straight from work in the City to get dressed up for evening games even before the change took place. He's certainly said it was his own decision. He's been doing the role for ten years; he must have some great stories. I would actually quite like him to have his own chapter in a future Tales from the Vicarage publication.
I think he wasn't allowed to do so much in terms of encourage the supporters since we have been in the Premier league.. Been great fun for the kids and true mascot - playing the part very well.
I have reported this news to my 25 year old who says she is "absolutely devastated. Consistently the best thing about the games for the last ten years"
Deulofeu rehab position. As he won’t be playing for another 3 months (what is this nonsense that he’ll be back soon?), he can at least practice his fancy footwork and dancing around full back routines.
The bloke is a legend. Sad day Thanks for all the fun Harry (even if you did stand on my toe in the V bar) X
Without doubt HH was clearly curtailed after the original Zaha incident and has slowly become less interactive with the visiting support and hasn't done anything contriversial for a long time. The club changing his twitter account and his personal details being out in the open, especially after Roys needless comments can't of helped. We've all seem the personal comments from Palace supporters, some of which must have stuck His time as HH and the enjoyment that his brought to both young and old has been magnificent. He will be massively missed by the club
I believe WAS is right. No mascot resigns 2 days before Man U, which will be seen by 10s of millions worldwide, with immediate effect unless he has a suddenly dehabilitating condition, I would think. Harry’s role, from where I sit, was significantly reduced last year. I fear his cheeky chappy attitude is no longer in line with WFC brand values. Gareth, you were the Alistair Cook of mascots. Long lived & only to be fully appreciated when you have gone.
I sincerely hope that he has left of his own free will and has not been pushed, as he has been a great servant to the club, and I for one will be sorry to see him go.
A great shame. He was/is brilliant. The "Supporter Of The Season" should be awarded to him now. Nobody else should be considered. I suspect dark forces.
Strange thing to do when he was the atmosphere driver for so many years. Harry well done for bringing the energy back to the Vic.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...tential-points-deduction-marco-silva-tapping/ The story that just won’t go away...still, nice to hear of some actual steps being taken by the PL to settle it at last.
We’ll never know the truth. Details of Gino’s ‘mutual’ agreements never leak. Can see the headlines now: Watford fans more upset at Harry the Hornets departure than Richarlison’s. This thread could run on and on, it has everything and is sure to be a Netflix series. After years of service, the actions of an over-exuberant employee need to be curtailed. Businessman, Gian Rozzo, does all he can to offer protection, letting his manager and prize asset go to bigger rival. This is not enough to appease the Network and Gian is forced to make further sacrifices on behalf of the man.
