Being reported by Russian media that we have bid for him. Had an impressive world cup, and can definitely play the one up top role, although he rarely finished games during the tournament.
Scored just 2 goals last season for Zenit and went on loan to Arsenal Tula!! Good international record though, 14 goals in 28 games.
2 goals in 9 starts for Zenit, not great. Though at Arsenal Tula he scored 6 goals in 10 (and Tula are a slightly worse side also in the top division). If he keeps Deeney out the starting lineup then I'm in. But considering his lack of pace then I don't think he'd be the solution for our goalscoring woes away from home.
Apparently an absolute *******. Fell out with the Mancini at Zenit so got loaned out and has fallen out with other managers before. Not a bad player but I'd like to hope we avoid him based on his attitude. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
What's the current obsession with being 'quick' or 'nippy'? This guy is a beast as he proved at the World Cup. If you can read the game and have positional awareness then you can make up for any flaws in your game. Shearer wasn't quick, but he knew how to read the game and put himself in the right position. This guy was superb at the World Cup and would link up very well with the likes of Richarlison and Deulofeu. Would be delighted with this if it comes off.
No point having fast wingers if your slow striker is still on the halfway line. Sounds like a totally made up story anyway.
Look, Gino knows what he's doing as do the coaching staff. If we sign him and he does well then he does well. If he doesn't do well, then he hasn't done well. A reasonable voice is needed for these things.
Would need work permit. Obviously his international record should make that a formality. However in view of the current diplomatic relations between the two countries there may be problems or at least a delay in getting a permit.
Dzyuba build a snowman, Come on let's go and play I never see you anymore Come out the door, Its like you've gone away.
So you are saying we may or may not buy him. If we do he may or may not be successful. Controversial and you would get good odds on that being the outcome.
Sounds like an ideal Okaka replacement. Does not threaten Gray and Deeney's position in the squad at this stage.
Looked a handful at the World Cup, 6 foot 5 puts himself about and is very good in the air and he knows where the net is. I think this would be a an improvement on what we have currently I hope it happens. In my opinion having a big man who can hold the ball up and bring the likes of Deulofeu, Richarlison and Bobby Pereyra into the game higher up the pitch is just as effective as a pacey striker possibly even more so.
Could cause a problem in local supermarkets. They won’t know who he is leading to concerns of an unidentified Artem in the bagging area.
Never played outside Russia... Would he settle OK here in sunny Herts? Would be no problem on a cold awayday at Burnley though.
I thought he looked ok at the world cup, in fact I mooted the idea of possibly having a look at the Russian strikers at the time. As others have said surely he can't be any worse than our current bunch of misfiring strikers, and on his WC performances he looked better than them to me, so if the money is not too much he could well be worth a punt.
A decent yet unremarkable record bitvinly in Russian football. Youth isn’t on his side either. Sure, he had a half-decent World Cup but as I’ve said on the Domagoj Vida thread - we should be looking at previous club form and history, not the fact they’ve had a run of 2 or 3 decent performances.
Better than Okaka and can last the full 90. On another note West Ham are willing to let Andy Carroll go apparently. Supposedly they have offered him to Besiktas. Worth a shout I reckon. Deeney, Rodwell, Carroll, Holebas and Britos all in the same side, what could possibly go wrong.
I guess 35 goals in 80 club appearances since 2015 isn't bad. Nor is 14 goals in 28 internationals since 2011.
80 appearances at club level since 2015 doesn't exactly seem great, although the Russian league does only play 30 games a year.
