Any money out there on Taliska joining us on loan from China in the next week or so? Just a thought. But very Gino.
Surely we can’t loan him from a club he’s on loan at?! Or can you? Wouldn’t surprise me if Gino buys him knowing full well the Chinese team will probably want to buy him permanently in January. Help Benfica’s financial problem by buying him now and then sell him at a profit in 6 months. Free money. But I hope we do buy him and he’s bound for us.
http://www.gzevergrandefc.com/news.aspx?ftid=45992 The Chinese club's official site have him posing with the shirt, so it's unlikely we'll see him before Jan, if at all. But as you say... Gino.
I find it surprising that we may have £19m to spend on a player, but intend to keep it in a drawer until January. And that’s why I’m doubtful.
How much? But even then I’m not sure that money paid to Udinese is quite the same outlay as money paid to other clubs. We do seem to get it back in favours.
Given how we usually fall apart after Christmas maybe it's part of the 'New Watford' strategy: only sign your good players in January. In reality I think it's a case of: he's far too good for us and the price is below his market value, so in long term interests of the club it's worth waiting 6 months. Hopefully we are not relegated by then.
Spot on jw. This guy has a seriously good left peg and all the tricks in his locker. Reminds me of Mahrez but plays in midfield. Undoubtedly he is mercurial and needs careful handling. Sure Gino is taking a calculated risk of us getting a high grade player at a reasonable price. If things don't work out he can be sold almost certainly at a healthy profit. Benefica know they 're getting a wedge of money within a timeframe they can budget for. There are some seriously big clubs in Europe who are cash hungry due to FFP kicking in. This benefits the lower EPL clubs in particular if they are skilled in the market. With Deulofeu, Wilmot, Feminia, Chalobah and Hughes we have seen Gino weave his magic. Long may that continue.
If, and it’s a big if, it has any truth, the reports are saying that Benfica have sent him to China for 6 months before coming to us because if they had sold direct to us, Besiktas would have been due a cut of the fee from the Portuguese. These transfer deals get so convuluted these days and I can’t understand some of them. If he went to Besiktas on loan and they chose not to take up their option to sign him because they couldn’t afford it, how can they still be due a payment on someone else’s contracted player? Bizarre.
Don't know if it we have done it in the prem, but pretty sure Toszer was loaned to us for two years from the team he was already on loan to - in fact, in true Gino style, I believe he was loaned to the other team specifically so he could be loaned to us. In Gino's first season I also seem to remember loaning out one of our loanees when he turned out to be surplus to requirements.
Maybe because it would have indicated that Besiktas had done a good job of "putting him in the shop window"? From what I've seen of Talisca he seems quality, and at 19mil would be a great buy. However, he's yet another winger/second striker, and considering the fee and that we've just signed Deulofeu, it could suggest that either Richie or Pereyra will be off. If it was Richie I wouldn't be too disheartened, as this guy is already basically the kind of player Richie hopefully would become if he kicks on over the next few years. However, if it's true that he'll be joining in January I hope things haven't been arranged in a way which leaves us low on numbers at the start of the season.
Another point to note - the final game of the Chinese Super League season is actually the 11th of November! So perhaps somehow there's still a chance that even if he does play some games for Guangzhou that we'll see him here before January.
It doesn’t matter who we sign , even if it was Ronaldo , Neymar and De Bruyne we d still get relegated in that new kit .
Its also bizarre that they can avoid having to pay them a wedge by simply loaning him somewhere else for 6 months ! If we loaned Troy to Sheff Wed for 6 mnths we'd still be due to pay walsall their cut if we then sold him.
We had a deal with Barca for Deulofeu where if he sold for 20mil+ in the summer we would get 1million, presumably because we helped contribute to improving his value. I guess there is a similar deal in place with Talisca, that also expires after the summer window.
Talisca seems to be more an ultra attacking mid...picks up the ball and runs. A free spirit like Pogba. Not sure Bobby is off but could be insurance as a Richarlison/ Doucoure replacement if we lose one (Hopefully not both) late in the window.
Be gutted We've not seen the best of him yet. Flashes of absolute class and adding goals to his game. We should be building a team around him, Hughes and Nate.
Being linked with Fiorentina as well this morning. As good as Pereyra is, if the owners/manager are convinced that his talents are too mercurial, I could see why they may look to replace him with someone less lightweight and more consistent. That being said, if they believe they can make Pereyra both of those things over pre-season, I'd much rather he stayed. Non-homegrown spots will be at a premium I think this summer so we may well see some players leave that we don't really want to as fans.
