This is purely for fun - but if every team in the league drew all their respective 38 games 0-0 and every team obviously then finished on 38 points, how the hell would the FA decide who won the league, who goes down etc? Surely it cannot go alphabetically as that would almost certainly relegate us!! I would love to hear your views on this. Personally perhaps a session of penalty shootouts involving all the teams?
Goals scored would be a factor, which would still put Man City first as they would be involved in lots of high scoring draws! Swansea and Huddersfield last as most of their draws would be 0-0!
Well - goals scored wouldn’t be a factor as the question was what would happen if all games were 0-0.
I think it would mean Skyla that every team is joint first. If they are tied on points, goal difference and goals scored. The interesting question is then who gets relegated and who goes to Europe. I suspect they would go with same teams as last season go to Europe. No one gets relegated or promoted that year. sucks to be the Championship winner perhaps they then get some financial compensation based on top 6 positions EDIT Looking further into it if the position is of importance then they hold playoffs for relegation or European places so that would be the answer. At neutral grounds at a format to be decided by the FA board. would be interesting if highly unlikely C.7: Subject to Rule C.17, if any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points, have the same goal difference and have scored the same number of goals in League Matches in that Season; they shall be deemed to occupy the same position in the table. In listed tables for this case, the tied teams are typically listed in alphabetical order. If the positions are significant, the teams play off for the position: C.14: If at the end of the Season either the League Champions or the Clubs to be relegated or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because two or more Clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the Clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding League Matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board.
I think essentially they have to replay the league again everyone against everyone at neutral grounds for all the games. Loads of matches. Is it 190 games over at least 19 different days. Even with as little as a day in-between each game that is 38 days or so
Wow really good answers guys thank you so much. At least now we all know to go to @cthulhu for rules a regulations of the game. Great research.
Hmm - I'd say the powers-that-be would be more likely to resort to a Fair Play League scenario. Least number of red cards wins, if teams are still level, least yellows - then look at least number of fouls committed. Whichever way, we'd be stuffed...
