Don't get too involved, I've also heard he's cheated on you with Relegation Certs.

That’s what I like , the early subs they never got a chance with 5 minutes , from silva substitutions.
We can win with playing average now , plus win when playing good.

Before we would loose playing good, like throwing it away the last 10 minutes when we had been leading all the game.
I think this manager has a decent footballing brain .

To be honest, the most surprising thing for me was how little West Brom threw at it? No sense of desperation at all. Resigned to relegation IMO.

  8. Lots of people have said they didn't enjoy the game, and I have no problem with that. Few described it the way you did.

I'll let you decide if you are a good fan. Have a think about it and get back to me.

I think Carillo heard the home crowd shouting OFF OFF OFF as he dawdled off the pitch as if wasting time.

    What a pious comment.
I’ll take a forgettable game and a win over playing exciting stuff and losing, sure, but I’m not going to go overboard on the hyperboly when it was a performance that could have been improved in many ways.

Sorry if you disagree. So annoying when people have other opinions.

Concerning to see Holebas go off at the end. If he is injured I'd rather Britos plays left back than Zeegelaar.

Wonder though if he might go for 3-5-2 at Arsenal to try and accommodate Hughes

What about all of the games we lost under slither? Surely it's better to go home knowing we have three points than watching a game like the Huddersfield match?

Decent article on "two up front" here:

    https://www.greatestwatfordwins.com/blog/2018/3/1/the-case-against-two-up-top

My take is that switching formations in the second half isn't Plan B. I think it's all part of Plan A for a home game. I'm not convinced that, for the first hour, we're trying to do anything much more than stay level. Plan A is to bide our time and then bring on the cavalry. It has worked a treat twice in a week.

It's a similarly cautious approach to Mazzarri's for the first hour - but he tended not to bring on a human wrecking ball in a number 33 shirt on 60 minutes.

Great to see Hughes back. What a guy. Sees the whole picture superbly, and wonderful technique in tight spaces. Really hope he’s able to stay fit for a while now and begin to reassert himself. A midfield with him, Chalobah and Doocooray would be a match for most in this league.

Some silly errors nearly cost us and west brom probably deserved a point but if I was one of their fans I'd be disappointed they didn't go for it as the game was there for the taking. JG was proactive with his subs, AP wasn't

The Holebas injury was comical as he hobbled off with an almost fake looking limp, he did go down much earlier in the second half and walked gingerly for a while. He almost fell over when he gave Britos a high.

Carrillo was in his own world for most of the game and should have been off before Richy who at least puts effort in. Carillo did do one good cross and one shot in the second half. Far too week and ducks headers. Not strong or determined enough.

Pereyra had a quiet first half. Not good in the air. Bottled a challenge in which he was favourite. Second half he was much better and had the chance to run at the right back. Needs to be tougher.

Janmaat made a few mistakes. Turned inside out in the first half. Needs to be tougher

Maps is generally reliable but made a couple of sloppy passes which needlessly put us under pressure. For a small man he wins a lot of headers. Man of the match only because of his 250th start.

Prodl had a solid game and had Rondon in his pocket.

Capoue is reverting to his ‘in contract’ form. Couple of half hearted challenges but I think he gets frustrated by a lack of passing options and ends up passing to the keeper.

Okaka made a big difference coming on again. He and Deeney seem to have a bit of an understanding. He’s easily wound up and retaliates to challenges. I’m waiting for him to lump someone. Maybe that’s why he wasn’t in training for ages!

Deeney. Well taken goal. Always looked confident that he’d score with that. Not sure if he was offside from the angle I was at. Great through ball from Silas*

Hughes. Intelligent players who lets the ball do the work. Offers something different from the rest. What’s that? A couple of assists and a goal in his limited outings?

Richy puts a lot of pressure on himself. It affecting his confidence in front of goal and now his dribbling ability has gone. He does track back well and gets a foot in so he still far more useful than Carrillo. He just needs a break from the starting line up to reduce the pressure and expection put upon him.

Karneses needs to be signed permanently. Very commanding. Holds the ball when needed. Different style to Gomes. Just needs to be told not to through the ball out when he has it in his hands and we have a player injured. These Greeks and Gifts eh?

The smoke emanating from the advertising sign was the most interesting part of the first half.

West Brom fans were loud. There team is poor. Rondon is a useless lump.

Pretty much the same as last week expect West Brom had some decent chances.

Great pass by Hughes and finish by Deeney.

A rare moment of quality in a scrappy game where Mariappa and the goalie were probably our best players !

Little fire in the SEJ advertising hoardings caused more interest than the 1st half.

Okaka made a difference again although though Richarlison was a bit hard done by to come off first.

I remember being annoyed we didn't dominate the game when we beat Newcastle 3-0 back in November.

Fast forward a month and we're absolutely desperate for a win after a terrible run

My point is that (for me anyway) any win is enjoyable, and you shouldn't take it for granted. Bet any side below us would have enjoyed a scrappy couple of wins

It was always going to be tough as WBA were bound to have more gumption this week, after their dressing room fisty cuffs.
Attritional and West Brom certainly had a couple of chances but the toothpaste man did clear one off the line and I thought Janmaat should have done better in the first half.
Great ball fromWH,some friends in the SEJ say it may of been offside but who cares?!
Okaka makes a big difference to Deeney.
I would move RP to the left, rest Chas and bring Hughes in for Carillo, who appears to be an Silva spy. Is that too many players? Arsene can't do his zip so he'll not notice!
Finally found a replacement for Stephen;hail the lucky carrots!
Enjoy your weekend everyone and well done all the sweepers!

I was very loud on here on the day we changed Head Coach, worrying that Gracia was a big gamble and maybe a gamble too far.

So it’s only fair that I acknowledge once again this evening what a good appointment he’s been so far, and that I was wrong to have been so anxious about him needing too much time to acclimatise.

10 points from 15 is a hugely impressive achievement, and he’s done it in a calm, measured and genial way too. It’s the first time we’ve won three consecutive home matches in the PL, and already he’s won as many at home as Silva did.

I wasn’t alone here in thinking our battle to stay up might go right to the wire, but instead I think we can say we’re just about safe now, barring a total meltdown. That’s very impressive and we can now all enjoy sitting back and observing the real dogfight at the bottom over the coming few weeks.

Yes neither today or last weekend’s matches were that impressive on the eye. Earlier matches this season against Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and even our first meeting with Brom were all way more entertaining and memorable. But those games all had one thing in common compared to our last two. The most important thing of all!

Do they have to test the GT stand fire alarms every home match? It always goes off but nobody moves.
