Even on our best spells since we've been back in this league, there's been players frustrating and underperforming. Nobody could be accused of that last night. It was like the side's collective hard-drive had been formatted and a new team mentality installed. Whatever you've done, Javi, long may it continue.
Fair it ain't. I believe, but I'm not certain, there would only have been an issue if (assuming he was still suspended) he came on, as his involvement was immaterial to the result, and he didn't partake in any way that was otherwise denied to him (e.g. it was a suspension, not a touchline ban).
He apparently was counted as a Watford player because he signed before the Stoke game, even though he wasn't registered to play
Its great to see such positivity on this forum once more, everyone is buzzing and not a single negative comment post match.
I’ll raise you Gussie Fink Nottle in the realm of newt fanciers. He’s not another of these double barrelled kids who pepper the top 6 youth teams but a somewhat hapless PG Wodehouse creation.
There were a couple of moments where the players got back in position first rather than ball chasing or duving in. This is a new one on us this season but worked brilliantly. Holebas was excellent in this position as was Capoue in picking up the secondary ball and clearing up.
It wouldn't be a Watford fan forum if it didn't have a mild panic even after we thumped the current Champions!!!
Highlights on the official site now: https://www.watfordfc.com/matches/match-review/match-review-watford-4-1-chelsea
A genuine question. What do you all think will be going on at London Colney today? What would you do today if you were Javi after last night?
Merson bang on the money once more. https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co...ll-news/watford-wont-able-build-stoke-1161391
I'd watch the extended highlights together after lunch. Milk it. Getting ready for the Wet Spam could start tomorrow.
Not just Merson, though, is it. Here is our own Relegation Certs on Thursday morning: "The problem is last night showed there is no new manager bounce. We still can barely create a chance let alone score one. Against the worst defence in the league! We're ******. Last nights performance gave me zero hope. It was grim. An awful evening." Let's face it, no one really expected quite what happened last night.
Well Conte has apparently given the Chelsea players 3 days off. So by that score our boys should be on holiday for at least a fortnight! Seriously though.. i'm no football manager but i'd do something like a light training session.. plenty of stretching etc. Followed by watching back through the game, highlighting the positives (of which there were many) and a discussion on how to reproduce that form in the upcoming fixtures. I'd then warn the players not to read wfcforums.com.. cause it's just a bunch of ill informed knobheads making out like they know how to run a professional football club
I thought Capoue"s reactions were interesting, not only did he throw himself into the game, but he celebrated the goals joyously and hung on at the end to applaud the fans as long as anyone. It's easy to assume that it doesn't always mean anything to successful players, but he seemed to like being at Watford last night.
Thought he was spot on when I read that. Not like any of us expected it, hindsight is a wonderful thing. It was a sensible prediction and he was correct.
Not all of us thought we'd get beaten, only the usual gloomy defeatists. http://www.wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/watford-fc-4-1-chelsea-05-02-2018-lol.54159/page-2 Post #63
Fair play to you. You get slated a lot which I find a little bizarre but you've called that spot on. I certainly laughed at that prediction beforehand.
