http://www.webaslan.com/amp/futbol/...asma-SXHBQ100309SXQ?__twitter_impression=true We've accepted a loan bid from Galatasaray for Holebas according to this. Option to buy at the end of the season included.
Yeah the contract makes sense. The soppy sit down interview video where he professed his happiness at the club less so.
Hopefully this means we have a genuine left back lined up can't see him going anywhere if we only have Zeegalaar.
Yes for certain we’ll have someone coming in. But the line I’m getting from the club is we have to ship out before we sign. There should be a lot of bidirectional trade between now until next Wednesday.
Makes more sense if you were able to pan-out and see Gino sitting next to him with the pistol and the photo of his family.
I would say he'd be sadly missed, but that's already the case when we see somebody off down the wing with Holebas nowhere to be seen. If we're going to play 4 at the back, we'll need some proper full-backs and shouldn't have to make do with wing-backs. That would be a start in making our defence more secure. Holebas is one of our best crossers of the ball, though - though admittedly that doesn't set the bar too high.
Yes - but holebas played when Chalobah was fit and Richarlison gave a toss. Zeegalaar has had Watson and Carillio
Would rather Zeegelaar is shown the door over Holebas but I guess you can only accept/reject the offers you receive. I’d be surprised if there are any takers for Zeegelaar at any point ever. Beyond his first couple of games, he’s been a shambles of a defender. Anyway, hopefully this is the first step towards rebuilding a far more solid defence.
One of my favourite players of recent years. An absolute nutter. Thanks for all the memories Jose, wish you got that yellow card record.
I saw that interview completely the opposite way. I thought he was pretty much saying, "yeah, whatever, it's a job, the money's good and my family is settled so might as well stay I guess...". I thought he couldn't have appeared more mercenary if he'd tried!
Exciting, I can’t imagine the club haven’t learned a lesson by now that buying sub-Standard full backs is a false economy. Gibbs would’ve been perfect (maybe if we stay up and WBA go down we can pick him) but it’s obviously not him, but hopefully somebody as good.
Yep, spot on. One of very few players who seemed to have passion and heart. Good crosser and a not afraid to shoot from distance. I liked him immediately. Of course most of our dinosaur fans couldnt understand what he brought to the team, and would rather see a limited player at LB just aimlessly hoofing the ball up the field as soon as they get it.
A Greek going to Turkey...that'll end well...especially if he wears the 'Free Northern Cyprus' T-Shirt I sent him.
First and foremost you want your players to be of a decent standard, but it’s kind of nice too when they have a bit of character. Holebas certainly has that. There was rarely a dull moment with him around, starting from the fiasco of him actually joining us without seemingly knowing. After ten years under Pozzo we will probably have had about 200 plus new signings all told, and the ones that will linger most in the memory are the great ones and the nutters and disasters and colourful characters. A throwback to football years ago when players did eccentric things and didn’t always tow the corporate line. Many many others will have slipped through our memories by then.
Kelly, the one who only plays when City aren't bovvered about the outcome (e.g their matches at the Vic) or Bryan who's rather good?
