I would think that most of us have had a dream where we play for Watford.
Maybe you have kicked a loved one in bed scoring the winning goal at Wembley.

Post yours here and let the other forum users psychoanalyse you.

Here is mine from last night:
I was in goal for Watford and at the same time was Gomes. The goal was on the side of the pitch in the Rookery/GT corner. The opposition goal was where it usually was. We played Leicester and won 2-0 both goals coming near enough from when I had kicked out having just made saves. Then we played Leeds and won 1-0 I made several saves, one of which I knew went over the line but no one else including the ref spotted this.

Question for HB1: ******* refs eh?
For everyone else: What does it mean?

I suspect Freud would have something to say about your dreaming about playing with balls.

My theory is your sick to death of Silva’s zonal defending and rubbish football of late that you want to sort it out at the back, even it that means being a leader of the line.

I once dreamt about winning the FA Cup with Watford Ladies and the men’s team we’re all sat in the subs bench. Weird.

I've dreampt about playing up front for Watford before and having that horrible 'running through mud' feeling where I could never reach the ball.

I dreamt once I was signed by Watford to play the Chalobah role in place of Tommy Smith who was on loan with Hogg at Villa.

I think similarly to your interpretation of mine. You are keen to get out there and get Watford to win, setting an example to the men's team of how it should be done

Ah the classic running through mud. Depends on how you were feeling during the day and during the dream. Was it frustrating? Did you feel weighed down by burden? Or did you feel vulnerable or impotent?

Brandon Mason gets sent off and we lose 4-2 seems to be the flavour of the month in my brain.

I once dreamt we beat Stoke 1-0 in a midweek game, after which, I reversed the Vicarage Road stand out and drove it home.

Ive had football dreams as far back as I can recall. However they always follow the same pattern where Im either running with concrete boots or continually missing the same open goal.

    Your dream Cthulu was...

    My analysis...

Playing in goal for Watford- Sport is a metaphor for life and the struggle to get on top and win the challenges that life throws at us. Being in goal shows that you may have a defensive view to lifes challenges, a goalkeeper being the foremost defender in any football team. However , they are also individuals, separate from the rest of the team which would suggest that see yourself as an individual, part of a team yes, but also one who forms his own opinions.

In goal with Gomes - an unusual situation for a football match. In this situation Gomes represents your animus, your alter ego. In the same way we often seek buddies who complement us, enhance our positive traits but also fill in for our weaknesses.
Gomes is an extravert character and quite spiritual. I would take a very wild guess that you are the Yin to Gomes' Yang, and so you complement his personality by offering rational and grounded, perhaps scientific common sense to his more esoteric traits.

Goal in the Rookery/GT corner - this represent the 'home' section of the ground, along with GT being a founding father. 'Home' confirms that this dream is about you and your inner self. We all have an inner 'home' end.

Leicester - This one is more difficult. You may have a personal connection with Leicester that we dont know about and so could be to do with that.
However, in a broader WFC perspective, Leicester represents the glory of victory in our 12/13 play off semi. Its a metaphor for the highs in life that we all strive for .
These highs elevate us above the mundanity of day to day existence. Who can forget the blood rush we all felt when Deeney scored.
That feeling of ecstacy is something everybody wishes and strives for and is the sole reason why religion/spirituality exists. Interesting that you enabled the victory by your saves and distribution. A sure sign that this is a positive dream about your potential to empower your life from your individualist 'goalkeeper' role. A goalkeeper who saves a certain goal is just as important than a striker who scores goals. Less applauded but just as important. The unsung heroes of life.

Leeds and winning even though a save was over the line - An affirmation of the Leicester analysis in that your saves won the game.
The fact that one of your saves went over the line but was only spotted by you and yet you didnt own up. Could this be an affirmation to yourself that sometimes its ok to cheat the system, for at the end of the day , life is just a game full of rules made by other people, quite often for their own benefit and so who says its wrong to cheat the system to your own benefit, especially if it benefits your 'team' ie you and your family, loved ones etc.

Of course, this could all be nonsense and the real meaning of the dream is you needed a night time wee and diving for saves was the only way to get you up before you wet the bed.

BTW , that is a very Jungian analysis, which is the viewpoint I personally subscribe to.

A Freudian analysis would be very different.

He believes, incorrectly, that everything, 100%, boils down to sex.

This is true , but only partially. Yes, sex is our main primal energy force. Without it , humans or any animal life wouldnt exist on this planet. However , humans exist on a higher level and are driven by other higher forces. If you were able to analyse an animals dreams ( for all higher mammals dream) they would be predominantly driven by sex ie procreation of their species.

Your dream from a Freudian perspective would be based on the fact that the football game is a metaphor for the sexual act. The euphoria felt by scoring a goal represents the orgasm.

The fact that you are adept at stopping the competitor from climaxing, by making saves, and adept at instigating your own teams goal scoring would imply that you are comfortable with achieving orgasm yourself but less interested in allowing your opposition from doing the same.

However, as I said, I dont subscribe to the Freudian viewpoint, and Im sure Mrs Cthulu is a very happy woman. ;)
