I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that we used the design for theirs for the Rous. Cheap and easy to build. Ticks all the boxes then and now.
I used to know Steve,is he still going out with Christine? Must have changed his name to Gordon on the football pitch!
Oh... My bad. I couldn't even excuse myself by saying *at home* because as Stevo pointed out, Liverpool was drawn 3-3 too. Nevermind, at least we farkin won alright!!!!
Yes their goalie Steve Orgrolovic (spelling) was on their bench on Saturday obviously goal keeping coach!
Congratulations to Bristol City tonight. They went toe-to-toe with Man City at the Etihad and only lost to a 91st minute goal. It really showed our gutless wonders up. We had lost the game at City after 13 minutes, should have been 5-0 by that time. There's a massive difference in attitude between Watford and Bristol City. They are a real team playing for their manager. We got lucky they had this game today, or else they'd have beaten us comfortably on Saturday with their first team.
Be serious. It was a half rotated side fielded by Man City. This game doesn't reflect on Watford (or any other PL team) in the slightest.
I disagree we are far better than Bristol City, do you honestly think they would be top half in our division? They got beat 5-0 in their last league fixture(Where was their team spirit then?). Tonight was their cup final and the biggest game they have had for years so obviously they were going to be well up for it against a weakened Man City side, only four City players that started in the league started against Bristol City today.
I think that's a slightly daft statement. Pure conjecture about something that never happened and never will.
It was a cup semi final. Of course City took it seriously. City destroyed us in the first 13 minutes. The way we started that game was pathetic. They scored after just 39 seconds, then Stones missed a sitter, De Bruyne hit the bar and Sterling had a chance all before their 2nd goal in the 13th minute. Seriously it could have been 4-0 or 5-0 after just 13 minutes. A team like Bristol City can go there with determination, organisation and discipline. You need to have these ingredients to stand a chance. Those are elements all missing from our current side. If we showed this kind of commitment in our league games we’d be right up there with Burnley, having a wonderful season.
Yet in the VAR thread people were saying if we'd got that penalty and Man City's 3rd had been ruled out for offside we could have drawn! Presume they meant lose 5-2 or something? All games are different - that same solid , organised defence tonight for Bristol City lost to Villa 5-0 on NYD. All we know is that our defence cannot do their job very well so will ship goals against most sides.
Yes it was a semi-final but judging by City's line up they clearly had one eye on the Liverpool game on Sunday.
I think people are missing the point. At the moment our team is a shambles. It couldn’t even survive the first minute and it was no surprise to anyone that it happened. Don’t forget that was City’s second match in 3 days. Palace held them to a 0-0 draw and nearly beat them having an injury time penalty. So when City played is they were naturally tired towards the end. De Bruyne was even stretchered off in the Palace game, but two days later is there ripping us to shreds. If one of ours gets a knock you don’t see him again for months. Look at the character of some of our players. Holebas decides to lie down and fake an injury instead of trying to prevent Huddersfield’s third. What do we do? Reward him with a 2 year extended contract. The mind boggles. Is it any wonder things are not going well.
As a general point you are right - we cannot be trusted to be reliable and organised ATM but who knows what would have happened against them with a full team. Much like we would look better with a couple of key players added. Holebas will probably be back in the team soon with Zeelegar showing no defensive qualities at all..
10th in the top league In the 4th round of the cup Ace players coming back from injury - things are not going well.
