Is Marco Silva all that?

Malky had the same resources but the football was infinitely better. Dyche only tactic was a 60 yard diagonal ball from defence for Forsyth to head out for a goal kick.

I was glad Zola replaced him.

Burnley are easily pleased. Maybe Dyche has ambition or maybe he's happy wallowing in the comfort zone of Burnley mediocrity.

It's nice - and in no way pathetic - that even on a Friday night and in a thread I hadn't posted on for days I'm never far from your thoughts.

Out of interest, how does calling me names without provocation fit in with the (once again not pathetic) stand you took against bullying and harassment little over a week ago? Presumably you haven't reported your own post?

What do you mean 'in hindsight'? A lot of us were saying it at the time. For two reasons: It was unfair and he was already clearly good.

Taking a small club in a depressed town to halfway up the Prem isn't mediocrity. I'd imagine they love him almost as much as we love GT, and for more or less the same reason

The local economy and the ugliness of the locals is no disadvantag. Staying at Birnely when Watford come knocking would be insane.

No he didn't. When Malky left he took players with him. The Board appointed Dyche in a hurry probably because he was going to join MacKay at Cardiff and we had a badly depleted squad and next to no money to repair it. He did an excellent job considering the circumstances. In fact, it started to look like the success that Malky was having might well have been down to his lieutenant. (As their subsequent careers also suggest). Dyche's problem may well be he is labelled a Pulis-type coach who works well with journeymen but has never experienced working with top-flight players. If I was a mega-rich club-owner I would happily gamble with him as my next coach.

Didn't Dyche have a load of money to spend when he was Burnley manager in the Championship? He spent a club record fee on Andre Gray and got Joey Barton in on what must have been ludicrous wages. The football was still ****.

When he has had money to spend in the PL he has largely made the decision to spend it on British/Irish journeymen cloggers. This idea that he does what he can on a shoestring budget is nonsense.

He took Don Cowie....or more to the point Cowie rejected a new contract. Who else? Some backroom staff. We struck a deal with Ferguson to get Cleverley on loan as we didn't have the loan fee.

Malky had to deal with administration threats from the Salad brothers and the internal power struggle with Ashcroft. Dyche had GT as chairman and a little more stability, but awful football....that's all I remember. Dyche has done very well with Burnley, but he's not someone who can take the club forward...he's a consolidator.

I think you need to re-visit your source of information.

GT may have been chairman by name but Dyce had to deal with the helmet wielding chancer

True, but the chancer didn't dictate style of play.

WUM....but at least use a spellchecker in your posts:)

As for Dyche...the likes of Trippier, Heaton, Keane and now Cork were NOWHERE near an England cap before he coached them. He even got the best out of Joey Barton from nearly 50 games on relatively low wages (about half of what he was earning at QPR).

The well-respected Warburton could not handle Barton, who was Burnley's BEST player in the Championship winning 2015/16 season. Miles more influential than Andre Gray.

I dont remember the football under Dyche being that bad in all honesty, certainly when compared to the rubbish served up by Hoofers, Wally or at times QS. It was more workman like than anything and he got the best out of what was an extremely limited side during his one season with us.

Though most of us felt it is was somewhat unfair that Pozzos got rid of him so quickly, it wasnt hard to see why. What I do know is that if we could defend like Burnley (or just defend) can this season then we would be 4th tonight with a win tomorrow putting us into 2nd place.

It it appears that Silva is on his way. It is just the way football is at the moment. He is just following the money. A higher salary, a larger transfer fund in January is on the table.
Let's remember that he has yet to complete one season with a team in the Premiership. He has shown himself to be 'for sale' to the highest bidder. Watford have a contract with him, but all contracts can be broken.
Football is full of snakes and ladders. Not all that go for money finish up in a better position reputation wise.
Everton are not a 'bigger' club, they are in a mess right now. They have just more time at a higher level than Watford.
Silva wants to go to Everton, nothing the fans can do about it.
It may not look good for a lot of fans, but l feel he should leave the club. He does not wish to be at the club any longer. That is clear to see.
The club has probably been looking at replacements as soon as the Everton rumours began to flow.
It is how Watford work and let's see what Gino has up his sleeve for the future.
The whole issue stinks, but this is modern day football. Did anyone care when former club owners ripped off players years ago?
We lose tomorrow and we could be back as relegation certs as forecasted earlier. It will be an interesting day at the Vic on Sunday.
As for me, no lifts working so a hike up to the top of the L'Etale for a blast down in the morning.

We had a poor start but actually finished the season very strongly staying unbeaten away from home for 6/7 games.

Certainly got the best out of Sean Murray and didn't Sordell score a few (or that under Malky?)

Had the little Swedish guy on loan from Fulham out wide too.

Dirty Rats do not deserve to bask in "The Golden Light".

To become "Golden" one must live in "The Light" with truth and fidelity.

Dirty Rats live in the underbelly of the sewer, where not only is there no light, but no honour either... just survival.

Alright, so after today's result it looks like Marco will be our next boss.

I would just like your thoughts on will he cut it at Everton?

It's an enormous job which has a habit of chewing you up and spitting you out...see Walker, Martinez and even a playing legend like Koeman.

Oh and before I forget, if any Watford bird would like a scouse boyfriend please pm me

    Cheers lads.
