There may have to be a poll in coming weeks! For all I know it could be you! There was a very negative poster here several years ago, Rupert? Always posting how the Pozzo’s never spend money and therefore we won’t get promoted. He posted mostly after losing matches. I don’t think that he’s posted since we were actually promoted.
The exact opposite of Irene were sitting directly behind me in the SEJ stand. At around 85 minutes about 10 people left with their kids. How can they do that at the most exciting time. Do they not know that we’ve score more late goals this season than in our entire history? It’s child abuse I tell ya, the kids missed out on the excitement just so that the parents don’t sit in traffic. Well done to the 1881, you confused the know-it-all next to me who only come to big games with the word Audentoir. He was all, what is that? What does that mean?. Of course though I didn’t have to google it!
Mis missed the offside in the second half when Gomes made a one on one save, or the link did. The arse player was about a yard offside. If Gomes didn’t save that it could’ve been all over then
Yep, that was shocking. Lino was nowhere near keeping up and Goggly was a good yard offside (we were in line with it). I wonder if Wenger would have seen that with such clarity if they had scored?
Did anyone see that scuffle in Market Street en route back to Watford Junction? Was it a couple of Arsenal fans fighting among themselves, or one of our lot winding them up?
Just listened to some of the punditry from BT sport yesterday and I'm surprised with how negative they were about our 1st half performance. We didn't create much ourselves, but until we conceded a silly goal from a corner we limited Arsenal to feeding off of scraps. Steve McManaman in particular did nothing but talk complete rubbish for the entire show. The funny thing is the same pundits who criticised our tactics will rave about how good Dyche and Burnley are when they get a smash and grab draw against teams at the bottom of the league. The same pundits will also criticise Richarlison for diving despite saying there is contact, but say Rashford was "unlucky" when he blatantly dives. Was very happy with the win yesterday. Very impressed with Silva's willingness to take risks with his substitutions and change the formation. It was clear what needed to happen, but its rare a manager actually has the balls to do it. Both the formation change and Deeney made a huge impact on the game, but I thought Cleverley deserved to get the MOM even before he scored the winner. Everybody played well. Holebas defended excellently all game despite the stick he gets and Richarlison looks like its only a matter of time before he comes a top player.
Fantastic game and atmosphere! When Cleverley's goal went in it was one of those rare 'hug a total stranger' moments that football fans live for. On one Arsenal board was the suggestion that they swapped managers with us, the reply was that they wouldn't wish that on Watford! Also a mix between those claiming Deeney is disrespecting Arsenal for saying they have no balls, no aura and those who agree with him! A great time to be a Watford fan!
Totally agree with you JK...I can't remember a more negative summariser towards us as McManaman was yesterday...he had nothing nice to say all match, yet we won!
This is where MOTD often falls down I reckon. They often just show the goals and near misses and (whether through time pressures, indolence or ignorance) often seem to omit showing the story of the game. Now they've taken to showing bits they didn't show in the highlights during the analysis (e.g. Richarlison's shot into the side netting). They should have included that chance along with some of the others in the highlights and it should have been amongst a series that showed our pressure on them increasing and increasing from around the 80th min leading up to the winner. To be clear, I'm not asking for them to heap praise on Watford and say how marvellous we are or anything, just to show proper highlights of the game. Many times it's not even much better than Super Goals Roundup or whatever it was called with smarmy old Manish and Steve Claridge.
Considering all tickets are sold to people with a profile on the ticket website, surely the club can track the source of these characters being in the Rookery?
Just watching the highlights now and it says a lot about the team spirit Silva has instilled when you see the subs go absolutely mental after the winner! The likes of Watson, Janmaat and Karnezis have had limited chances but there's a clear togetherness in the group judging by their reaction to Cleverley's goal. Really great to see following on from last season, where the squad was so obviously divided.
It has improved though, last few seasons there's been loads of away fans in the family stand when we've played London clubs. Didn't see any round where I sit yesterday.
They were Watford fans apparently and they were waiting for their dad to come and help them out. Loved it when one steward waved him out. You could see the hate from them and the steward couldn't have given any less of a feck
IBB's playing a blinder with her socks and twigs - I'm not sure the shorts will cut it in midwinter - but what we really need to know is how things go in her household on match days. Do she and Mr IBB accompany each other to matches when they can, with Mr IBB clapping politely when Watford score and herself doing the same when Palace win a corner, or do they march off in opposite directions with nary a backward glance, meeting up at home later in a frosty atmosphere when she tries to talk about football while he sits silently staring into his Baileys?* We need to be told.... *Not yesterday, obviously - there will have been a conga all the way from the kitchen to the bedroom.
Yesterday was the first time in many many years that I damaged my voice, and that's sitting in the SEJ. I have to say the giant flag and the flags in the SEJ, (of which my lad couldn't wait to wave), were a great start to the match. Loved every minute of it and we were never out of the game. However, the moment of the day without a shadow of a doubt was the stadium announcer. With all the players still on the pitch and the Arsenal fans still inside, he said this.... "The final score is Watford 2, Arsenal 1, and that puts us up into 4th position in the table and a champions league place." The final twist of the knife.
Best post I have read on here for many weeks. The opening 20 minutes was fast and good from both sides but cancelled each other out so no goal chances. Cleverly and Doucoure were excellent during this period and Eleney their best player trying to make things happen. They clearly got more confident after the soft and predictable set piece goal. Although we rode our luck for a time we were never completely dominated. Their finishing was powder puff. Deeney has summed it up perfectly. The MoTD summing up was good but the match footage was still biased towards the Arse. Nice to see Cleverly get some wider appreciation for a change. Luv the Arsenal Fans TV meltdown...best comedy show around!
Just watched the extended highlights from the fischal site. How anyone can say Richarlison out right dived is a joke. This is a dive
Actually the tattooed man/ Gooner/ Scummer does talk quite a lot of sense re. the Gooner predicament.
I agree, Arsenal had very few opportunities to score in that first half, and that is credible in itself. And we did look comfortable on the ball, all over the pitch, which is something I have longed for in the Premier League. It was only our trepidation that held us back. We need a bit longer to establish a real belief in ourselves, ...and I have just read this post back and I have decided that it reads like a load of nonsense, and I cant be arsed to delete it. ...I know what I mean, anyway.
I have only attended one match with Mr IBB,Florist at home 2-2. I certainly won't sit with him ar Selhurst Park but can wave with a couple of my fingers at him from that cow shed of a stand they house us in! He has enough grief from a tennis partner of his who is a Wolves fan. I did text him though and say they had 'semi scored' at 1-0 up v Chelsea. The shorts are under my tracksuit trousers Ub,lest my legs be mistaken for two slightly larger twigs! I'm off to find the sellotape for Terence the twig.
How **** were the Arsenal fans at the ground? Second half not a peep except for one feeble 'we've got erzil'. That was the biggest home support vs away support disparity in volume/amount I've ever heard - and we sit near the VR end.
Meh, sign Adam Gemili for 100k and he can tire them out. I'm sorry but for £18 million you need to do more than "tire" a defence and then go off.
https://imgur.com/a/K2MQI Image code is broken @Meister but had a picture of the offside for Ozil's miss which is blatant. But it's a funny old game football, from Gomes save we went down the other end and won the penalty. If the lino had blown for the offside, Gomes would've had a free kick and a long hoof up field to Deeney. Weird ain't it!
funny I don't recall anyone mentioning that either, would of been good if the guy interviewing Wenger pointed that out to him just to rub it in.
Kabasele and Britos were fantastic, as was Gomes who I had started to doubt! Only disappointing thing about the game was Andre Gray, completely ineffective, hopefully Deeney starts against Chelsea
