Hornetgags posted this picture on the match thread but I think it deserves a thread all of its own. Magnificent, simply magnificent.
Whatever camera BT Sport had taking pictures from above the ground captured it magnificently. Very impressive.
Many thanks to whoever is responsible for the flag I am sure to do something like this takes a lot of preparation and hard work, It would be an interesting insight if someone could report on how the flag was made, the logistics of getting it into the stadium the cost and where the money comes from etc
Guy who sits in front of me, and incidentally lives in my block of flats, said he designed it and showed me the design blueprints before it went up. I'll ask him more about the logistics. Looked absolutely brilliant! Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
It says a great deal for both the club and the 1881 that there was enough trust in the 1881 to let this happen. Can you imagine all the H&S issues that could have been raised. Of course, I only saw it on TV but the logistics of getting it up and then down in that timescale must have been challenging.
Is this likely to reappear in any subsequent home games? A reminder for me if so to get there at least 10 minutes before KO from now on!
They should have put it up just after the second half started against City! You know ive never been under such a flag and always wondered if it was claustrophobic? I wonder what it wold be like if you had a panic attack
It would be a giggle if we could sneak it in to any random L*t*n game, in the away end, so the scum could see it first hand. Wait... won't happen, their shed ain't big enough
It's not usually that bad. Most of the time sunlight penetrates them so it doesn't really feel like you're penned in. Can't speak for this particular flag though, of course...
Kevin, who sits behind me,usually waits in the wings as he suffers from claustrophobia. Yesterday he didn't. I am listening to Danny Kelly and his 'Trans Europe Express' programme. He mentioned the Inter flag v Milan in a derby 20 years ago. Apparently when the Milan players came out so did lots of bottoms from the blue and black flag that covered one of the San Siro stands! If the 1881 were considering such an enterprise v AFC Bournemouth or appropriately,Palarse,I should like to volunteer my services!
A great effort but all involved, just a shame you couldn't see the effect of it unfurling if you were under it like I was Was wondering how it was made and being pedantic surely if it's a flag it needs to be hoisted up a flag pole, imagine what that would be like
It looked absolutely amazing from the Lower GT where I was. Genuinely brought a tear to my eye if I'm honest.
i watched it from a sports/pool bar in bournemouth, mostly full of arsenal and one other random 'Orn.. the flag looked absolutely awesome on the big screens... brilliant result, especially with the muff fans that were also in there too! heh!
