Couldn't find a thread for this so apologies if there is one and I've missed it. Is anybody on here going? Looking at the ticket website, there's still loads of seats available. Think it will be a real shame if the game is poorly attended, considering what the occasion is - although I accept that a lot of people on here live either miles away or abroad. I suppose the club didn't do themselves any favours by changing the date as people might have arranged holidays around it, but still disappointing if it hasn't filled up any more by Saturday. Here's what's still available as of today (31/7): Considering that the Rookery hasn't even been made available, I really thought that tickets would sell out quickly.
Be somewhat less than the 10k there were at Villa.. For starters the opposition will have no away fans!
I thought it looked like quite a few sales when I bought my ticket yesterday. Hopefully a decent crowd to support the great man.
I'm going. Gonna sit in the upper GT because I never have before. I've been told it's always cold. So, if it is, I'll sit in the SEJ instead!
It's not cold in the UGT, partly because of the warmth of the company. Now the old Gene Kelly stand, that really was cold.
Had it been Villa at home like planned, there would've been a much better crowd, it's all been a bit of a shambles really. Would've helped if the Rookery was open as well!
Absolute ******* shambles. Unable to go. Will be watching the 1984 cup final on Saturday night instead, in memory of the GreaT man.
I'm only expecting a chance for a gentle pre-season booing, just enough to stretch out the vocal cords after a the break. I should be fully match fit for a full bodied boo the following week.
Well probably going to look awaked in the photos and on TV with most of the ground empty.. I did think the original idea even before the Villa game changed was to have some sort of tribute evening to the great man. That would have gone down better I feel rather than a half hearted friendly against a side no-one really cares about.
We should arrange a game under lights between sides drawn from the two GT eras. I know some of the first group are knocking on a bit, but I'm sure many of them would be up for it and still know their way around the park. During one of the infernal international breaks would be good.
Unlikely to see any new faces now, so will depend who is injury free. No idea who's shaken off their injuries, so at a guess the team could be... Gomes, Kiko Prodl Cathcart Mason, Doucoure Chalobah, Amrabat Pereya Success, Okaka. Shame not to see Hughes play, going to be tough competition in CM this season.
I would to, just don't think it will happen. I'm not anti-bat either, just really like the look of Hughes. Not even a sniff at this moment in time for Cleverly, and of course this also puts to the side Capoue and Watson!
Yes, but we need a squad, not just 11 first-teamers. And hopefully, if we have a squad, Silva won't pick the same players week after week.
YouTube - you'll be lucky. You will have to make your way down some dodgy old back alley to find this 1.
I would also like Hughes to start but would also like to see Kiko given a shot on the wing. Gomes, Janmaat Prodl Cathcart Mason, Doucoure Chalobah, Kiko Pereya Success, Okaka. Is Holebas injured?
I'm interested to see how we line up today. Will Silva use it as a test run for his 11 for next week? Or will he keep experimenting? Will Capoue play or has he been fully cast in to the wilderness? Can Pereyra play for more than a half? Who will play next to Prodl at the back? Friendlies don't mean anything but I'm so excited for the season to start that I just need some football to sink my teeth in to!
No thread for this match that I can see? Mods, feel free to merge if I've missed one. Anyone know what the "family activities" will consist of? Trying to work out whether it's worth bothering to take the kids early to the ground or whether they'll be bored shitless by kick off.
I doubt you'll get to go on the pitch, so it will probably involve queuing for face paint and is therefore worth avoiding.
Harry has arranged to have a glory hole in the toilets next to the players' changing rooms. Fun for all the family, and brings new meaning to the nickname "Glory Horns"
Test of accuracy from Adidas? Is that like guessing which club we're going to rip off for next year's shirts?
Not sure anyone has suggested this? But he could be used as a more attacking midfielder as apposed to one of the 2 holding? If and when we play 4-2-3-1 I mean
