Apologies if this is old news - I was unaware of it. Buried deep within an article on Pep Guardiola's massively successful football agent brother, Pere, in today's Telegraph it states that "He (Pere) is brokering a deal for the Pozzo family to sell Granada to a consortium from Asia." I wonder if this explains why they were so keen to get Penaranda on to our books
They have denied it however the drum keeps beating. Either that's down to lazy journalists or 'no smoke without fire', I don't think we know for sure.
Apparently negotiating wih Chinese investors for commercial rights next season. Doubt there's anything in it seeing as South Americans only have to wait 2 years for Spanish citizenship, not the standard 5.
As already stated, the Pozzos have denied it and said it was just a case of them receiving an offer and turning it down. The Pozzos don't have a track record of lying through their teeth in public, so I'd be inclined to put this down to shoddy journalism.
Now the Pozzo's haven't denied it. They want to pour all the sugar on us Hornets... "Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Gianpaolo Pozzo was asked about the future of Granada, and whether the club will still be sold. Pozzo said in order for the club to compete with clubs like Sevilla then they must consider selling. The Watford owner believes if purchased by Chinese businessmen then this can be achieved. "We can no longer suffer. Granada must become like Sevilla, and we can’t do it. The possibility exists that if purchased by the Chinese there are guarantees this can happen," said Pozzo on the future of Granada. With the prospect of Granada being sold this could benefit Watford as more focus is likely to be put on the Premier League side. The Pozzo family have invested millions into the club since they arrived in England, and now they’ve consolidated their place in the Premier League they’ll want to push on next season."
Probably explains why they've been asset stripping Grenada's up and coming players and tying them to us.
Don't think selling Granada will necessary be a benefit. Doesn't having Granada allow South Americans to gain work permits before onward movement to Udinese or ourselves and isn't the chance of playing for a choice of three clubs better than for two
It does benefit, however what's not to say whether there would be a clause in the sale to still deal with Watford and Udinese regarding loans.
The reality is if the kids are strong enough prospects they have no trouble getting a work permit here in the UK. Pennyrandy will walk a work permit - young, world class prospect, already a full cap
Catch up mate! I've been banging this drum since Christmas If you read the interview with Pozzo, he explains that in order for Granada to reach Sevilla's level, they will have to sell as they just don't have the time to spend on Granada. It's a pretty noble thing to say in my opinion, and the right one. Granada deserve the best and I'm sure that Pozzo won't even consider selling unless he's certain that the other party are honest, footballing and business-minded people.

I used to live and work in Wuhan! Small world! The Chinese are really buying into European football aren't they.
Perhaps this is Watfords future too. Own it for ten years build it up and sell on for a massive profit to invest in Udinese? On the other hand if English Premiership income keeps out stripping that in Italy, you can see Watford being the economic powerhouse of a mutually beneficial partnership between the two clubs. The money Watford can generate in the Premiership, I believe, outstrips the Granada benefit to Udinese of being an incubator of young South American talent.
That's the nail on the head. There's just too much money in the PL for Pozzo to ever consider selling IMO. The revenue from the TV deal will fuel the Pozzo empire for years to come, it just wouldn't make sense to sell Watford. Once Granada are sold, I can see Pozzo spending a few years stablising Watford and equipping Udinese with the tools it needs to get back to its former height before he makes a move on another European club. If I were a betting man, I'd say a 1st/2nd division Belgian club.
I may be being daft and idealistic but you never know things like the Gino banner and the moments created at Watford since they’ve been here and the growing atmosphere and passion created with the help of 1881 they may have fallen for the club beyond purely it being purely business for the empire/Udinese’s future. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe that happened too much at Granada and obviously Gino is living over here and attending games regularly. It sounds like they simply cannot justify the continued outlay and effort it takes to maintain Granada anymore which has perhaps been highlighted by the windfall received from us everything from TV money, prize money and commercial deals will be far greater. I imagine it’ll be quite beneficial for us as the Pozzos will have even more resource for us and Udinese and I’m sure they’ve already figured how to approach the work permit situation for South Americans. Even without buying a new club you imagine they’ll sign a ‘feeder’ club for this ala Chelsea with Vitesse type situation. Shall we give them Jurado as a leaving present…?
Agreed. Gino is very hands on, and I imagine his Dad was too. I don't think he trusts that Granada will make any significant progress with only half an eye on it. The cost of relegation would significantly reduce its value, and La Liga is starting to become more competitive financially making it a great buy for a prospective Chinese investor. Doing things the right way or not at all seems to have got the Pozzos this far. I'd like to keep Granada, but who is to question their decision if they do not.
http://www.football-italia.net/84768/pozzo-sell-granada Apparently sold to a Chinese group yesterday for 37 million euros. Expect a clear out of their good players to us and Udinese.
http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2016/05/22/primera/1463911879_279759.html Says the sale will be confirmed when the Chinese pay 1st instalment within 15 days
I've seen a lot of Granada this season & he's been easily one of their stand-out best players. Apart from that, no reason.
El Arabi is supposed to be quite crap from what I've heard though. Apparently the Pozzos are keeping a stake in the club so should be useful for loans etc
37 million euros seems like nothing. Thats around £28 million. That means you can buy a La Liga club for the price of one Romelu Lukaku. Mad.
