Would surely play on the right of the three behind Deeney? Would be an excellent signing if we can get him. Would suit QSF's system, HG as eluded to above, quick, works hard, scores goals, good movement.
I'm not whelmed. What is the word I want? I know we all stopped worrying about footballers salaries somewhile ago, but I note that Borini is paid £2.6m not to play for Liverpool. We would probably up it. Do we want to pay him £3m to replace Vydra?
With the homegrown rule, we need to get rid of 5 foreign players. If we can replace them with decent homegrown options, then that is a bonus. There is unfortunately no real way around that.
True, but I've never seen evidence that Borini is any good. Maybe I'm wrong, though, as he doesn't get picked a lot so evidence is hard to come by.
Id be happy with this signing, from my understanding he plays behind the main striker so he has three places to fight for in the team. He was good at Swansea and on loan at Sunderland so if he doesn't cost that much he could be worth a go..
Thought about it, I'm sure the club know what they are doing but still doesn't make sense to me Jurado, Diamanti and Abdi can all play in behind TD We need a back up #9, we need a winger, and we need a DM, we don't need another 2nd striker unless Ighalo and Vydra have both been sold overnight
You can only have ONE big dog here and he wears the number 9! We haven't got a big enough kennel to house 2.
Are we really going to spend a significant amount of money to bring in a further striker to be played out of position on the wing/as a CAM? Seems futile.
I wouldn't really say that, he got 7 goals, of which I think 5 were penalties. I think he is a 'meh' sort of signing, nothing to get excited about.
Oh how far we've come when players of this quality are now just worth a "meh". Here's a couple of links in case any of you can be bothered with this one http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/461699/Watford-Fabio-Borini-Liverpool-transfer-news http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/08/28/fabio-borini-thinking-about-watford-switch-after-inter-look-other-way/232492/
I'm sure he's a very good player, never been blown away by him though, hence the meh. Quick, good movement, good finisher, so he must offer something different to Vydra. Ability to defend? Better workmate? Better link up play?
Rodgers is the one who sees him in training every day, so I trust his opinion that he is crap. Do some of you think you know more than Rodgers?
Over rated prima donna who held Sunderland to ransom - thinks he is a star when infact he is very average Would rather have Steve Butler back!
Some comparative stats from 13/14 between Vydra , playing for WBA and Borini playing for Sunderland Borini 7 goals 3 assists in 2135 minutes played Vydra 3 goals 4 assists in 660 minutes played So Borini scored a goal or assist every 210 minutes played Vydra scored a goal or assist every 94 minutes played I understand the logic in selling Vydra at a premium ie 10 mill and buying Iturbe for instance . But not this guy. Am hoping it's a Gino back up plan while he chases better options.
Borini is on a large wage at Liverpool, and in no rush to lose it - think that's why he's not gone somewhere already
To those saying there's better out there..... Name a reasonable, affordable, and realistic home grown player you'd rather see? Or perhaps we look at a young backup like Zac Clough - Though no idea what his valuation would be.
It's not an obsession, but we need to get rid of foreign players, that's pretty obvious. Borini sounds similar to Vydra so replacing a foreign player with an identical homegrown player is ideal.
It's not that exactly. Putting the issue of whether Borini is any good or not to one side, non-HG squad places are now at a premium. If we can replace an existing non-HG with a HG of comparable quality it would mean one more non-HG position available.
