Didn't he get a full page in the Fail? Only time we'll ever have a whole page in the paper dedicated to something Watford related. And we don't even like him.
One good game and now linked with Villa and Celtic: http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...ns-favourite-ikechi-anya-4053905#.VJF7DCusWSo - 'fan favourite' http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/english/celtic-linked-with-move-for-ikechi-anya-1-3636602
'Would likely jump at the chance for a return to his hometown.' Didn't he live there till he was about 5?
I lived in Northolt till i was about 6, I wouldn't jump at the chance to go back. Not even in an offensive way, in an I don't remember it way.
I have to say, I am one of those who was losing faith in him, but since I said I would not be sorry to see him go, he has started playing more like he does for Jockland!!!
He just strikes me as the sort of player that needs a run of games to perform consistently. The odd game here or there doesn't work for him. Glad to see him back on form.
He is playing well. Sometimes he just needs to be a bit cuter on the edge of the box (flutter his eyelashes etc.) but it was a great drag back on Saturday. The one thing I would like him to do is to every-so-often take a risk and try and cut inside to collect the ball when teams are defending more narrowly. We know he can take on and beat players, and we also know that we generally do not win headers, so to have him cut inside and try a quick one-two or a quick shot could really unlock defences.
on his day he is a great player, unfortunately so far this season his days have been few and far between. however i would love for him to have a great second half of the season, he is in a 'good moment' right now as joka would say.
I reckon he will go this transfer window. A few clubs (with Scottish managers) think he's Messi, and if we can get 5-7 million for him from a relegation threatened club, I'd bite their hand off.
I watched the full 90 minutes on Cardiff City Player and it was just amazing how both of the commentators were bleating over Anya as if he was the next messiah. Yes, his form has improved over the last 4 games, but otherwise he hasn't been that good at all. Their version of John Marks (who btw was horrific and knew next to nothing as he was saying Paredes was Italian and saying Hoban in a weird way) also claimed that Scotland play Anya on the left (which they do), in his more favoured position (which it isn't). If that's the attitude of the average joe on Anya, then we could easily bump up his price like no tomorrow and mug off another team.
If the Juanfran deal goes through for next season and there is any truth to the Insua story then Anya will end up with a bit part behind Pudil - Insua on the left and Peredes - Juanfran on the right. Think we should cash in over the summer.... and also move Dyer swiftly along.
I love his attitude but I'm not actually that fussed if he goes. Can destroy teams with his pace but I can't remember the last time I came away from the ground really impressed with him or thinking that he stood out in anyway.
Poor end product unfortunately like all our current wide players, not bothered if we cash in however would affect our homegrown quota
If someone hopefully comes in with a good bid for Dyer, we could also throw in Murray in a buy one get one free offer
