Now the work anti virus has kicked in and blocking the site, also lots of blocking coming up on the adverts. Maybe it is some rouge adverts, best remove them for a time and see if things improve? There goes the pocket money for running the site. :doom: Old Admin would NEVER have let this happen :dismay:
It's not the adverts. As I said I have Ad Block which prevents the ads from even appearing. It is an encoded javascript found inside the site content and it is being used to hide an iframe call to a site distributing malware. TVOR if your anti-virus is already blocking it then it is going to be a nuisance more than a threat. The site will run slower and freeze momentarily each time it blocks a new alert is all. It's not a virus or anything that can harm your computer even if, as with me your Defender or whatever you use was turned off at the time. It's just a rogue company trying to get you to buy their phoney anti-virus by making you believe your computer is infected when it is not.
I'll strip out the league table and see if it's that. Don;t think there is anything else we've installed tbh. I'm convinvced someone has maliciously reported the site to google and that's what is causing the issues as I've got not problems on a pretty secure work computer.
This should be sorted, temporarily having to use the default template but we're working on bringing the normal one back. EDIT: You may still get the Malware warning because we're still technically blacklisted until Google re-reviews. Apologies for the inconvenience and thanks for your time!
Thanks for the advice PH, I'll continue to post my drivel then; shot yourself in the foot there mate
It's ok TVOR.... even if I am somewhat reluctant to admit being quite fond of your drivel (for drivel is really what it is), your drivel is a small price to pay to read my own brilliant posts in print.
I can confirm there has not been a single warning in the 15 or so last minutes I've been here. I would have expected close on about 10 in that time so I think you have solved it so well done to you SM. Pity HM didn't treat it in the same regard but never mind it's all good now.
I opened all the recent threads and the only one that gave me the malware warning was this one - http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?49339-The-Shoutbox-for-Saturday-s-Game Anyway all good!
Another site I use that uses a similar version of vbulletin was also hacked this week. I think that perhaps there was a security hole that some bad people found out? Why do these d*cks do this?
It's possible, but it's more likely it came through one of the active content add-ins that serve content from external sources. Every one of those is a potential security hole, since you don't control what is served up. Compromising the code is significantly more complicated and difficult, and is the least likely explanation (but not impossible). I'm not a fan of externally served add-ons and adverts for precisely for this reason.
Imma still getting this. Why the **** does the google page say you can continue if you want and then not provide any option to do this; ****ing nazi regime. I'll take the internet aids if I want.
I assume a security patch has been issued, then? This particular infection wasn't hard to detect/block, but if there is a hole someone could put much nastier items in next time.
Thanks for sorting it SM and Meister. Got to the point that I just didn't even bother trying to get on here for the last 24 hours. As I think someone else mentioned, it'd be interesting to see how it affected the site traffic in the affected time frame compared to usual traffic... but i'm not sure how readily available that info is?
General traffic was slightly down but still a high level of page impressions. Arakel a fix is issued and I've now implemented it
First time I have been on since the alerts started, seems to be ok now. Thought it might of been a dodgy ad.
