That does happen here. Usually it is a gentlemans agreement. However some will argue if a club has released a player on loan then they are really no longer their own player and the releasing club should not be allowed to decide if said player can play or not.

Otherwise a club could flood a league with it's loanees and offer to them clubs that are not their main rivals and use them as pawns against their closest rivals but not allow them to play against themselves (the parent club).

First couple of pages of this thread are great. High hopes for Fanchone and Beleck, disillusionment over Zola being appointed. Good times.

Hi, I always pass Udine on the way to Adriatic resorts, like for example Grado....
    ;)

Saw the stadium from the motorway, but never watched Udinese Calcio yet.

See if you can pinch Jose Mauri from Parma.

Sherlock, how have people in Udine viewed our promotion?
Are they happy for the extra income/prem team to support? Or annoyed because it could mean Udinese become second priority?

I heard, that as a thank you, our old East Stand is to be reconstructed in Udine as they only have one side at the moment.

    Hammered 4-1 today.

On a Udinese fb page I like (not sure if its the official one), the result was posted and the top rated comment (still only 4 likes) was translated by bing as:

That nice to be humiliated..... Thank you pozzo also for the stadium and the promotion of the watford..... I love you

Looks like their fans are annoyed that we have been prioritised although hard to tell if its sarcasm as I'd assume they are genuinely happy with the stadium

    1-1 v Roma (away) after 60 minutes, I can't believe I got 9:1 for this.

    Come on Udinese!!

Oops ... spoke too soon, Widmar just gifted them a goal

Oh well ... lost but played pretty well all the same. For all Roma's possession it was a little bit of good fortune that decided it.

How is the new stadium coming on for Udinese? When is it expected to be complete?

Currently only main stand (west) open.
North and East stand going on well and should be finished this Summer.
South stand should be ready by the end of 2015.

North stand (and part of East) as they were last days:

It looks the nuts ... I wonder If we'll get something like that to replace our temporary EJ stand.

Looks good. And as soon as it's all finished it'll create a lot of new revenue from the sustainable aspects of it. Was it true it has a gym in it and will be used for concerts and things?

I very much doubt it. The Udinese stand is one stand wrapping around 3 sides and there is very little to stop them having what they want. We have height and space restrictions and only permission for 5000 seats (although we could probably get permission for a few hundred more). The current plan is to take the stand down, put new steels further back towards Occupation Road, lower the gradient of the terracing and bring the seats all the way to pitch level. Then behind the stand the lower concourse will be for club use and the upper for spectators.

Stadio Friuli redevelopment now named temporarily after the chief sponsors the Dacia Arena. Seating capacity of 35000 and at last another modern spectator friendly Italian venue. Unfortunately christened with a 4-0 defeat by Juventus for whom Paulo Dybala 'La Joya' was outstanding. Think I recommended him when he was playing for Instituto Cordoba that the Pozzo's should have grabbed him then. Never mind.

Thank you for the photos Smudger.

On Dybala, you're certainly right, but Palermo bought him for a record fee of 12M€ (!) from Instituto de Cordoba (to later sell him for 32M€ to Juventus).
That fee was certainly well above the usual transfer budget of Udinese for some young South-American player. Tipically our "cap" is 4-5M€, we don't risk more than that.
Things might change in future, thanks to the fact that WFC staying in Premier may mean much more money to invest in the gems found by the scouting network, so we (I mean we all, the triad) will not be limited to buy only the ones not excessively expensive.

Genuine question, will Udinese fill 35k every week? Or even get close to it?

Really, IIRC max capacity should be about 25K.
Answer to your question is "surely not". Only in the matches against the "big teams" which count a lot of fans in Friuli or in nearby Slovenia and Austria.
As it was for the "sold out" last week againt juventus.

Otherwise avg. attendance is around 15K so far in season. Probably limited by running works and lowered by a not brilliant season.

Ah futtocks. A Fail. 2-2 draw in the end after backs to the wall last 20 minutes. But a point away cannot be bad.

Could have done much better. Doesn't seem to have adjusted adequately to serie A. Seems still very promising at times, as he is very quick watching situation around in midfield and pass the ball around very quickly and precisely. Also he's decent in defending.
Yet, he could and should do much more. Seems always slightly too slow in movement, too little physical in tackle, and never tries for a reallly GOOD filtering pass which could become an assist.
I still think he has the quality to become a sort of "half-Pirlo" very good for a team like ours, but this season, so far, seems a half wasted opportunity for him.

It is also a fact that he's been outshined by the quick ascension of Fofana, Jankto, Samir and De Paul.
Maybe without these in team we'd be more than happy that he's definitely better than many midfielders we had in last three seasons.
