Is it ever boring at Udinese? And on a serious note, what is the opinion of Gianfranco Zola as a coach in Italy, and is there a previous link between him and Pozzo?
Stay in the Metropole 5 stars by St Marks. Splash out a bit and it is a great place. Water Taxi is a must from airport to the island. Tip the driver to go fast. Breakfast should be a pastry and Espressi in one of the stand up bars on a back street like the locals do. Take a gondola at night if your with your girl. lunch long and with a Aperol spritz Cichetti (italian tapas) for teatime. Then Harrys bar (invented the bellini for pre dinner drinks) A vivaldi recital or opera for the evening and then a long dinner. it is a bit touristy but you can avoid that bit.
One of my favorite threads ever. And I just listened to "Alè Udin - Inno Storico Udinese Calcio" on the youtube 5 times in a row whilst reading this thread. Amazing song. How exciting this all is. Welcome Udine fans! Please keep posting!
Easyjet to an airport about an hour away Get a train then a bus to near venice Stay in a hostel infested with mosquitos and skidmarks on the communal toilet Pay $7 for a cold slice of pizza in St Mark's Speak to a Gondola driver and baulk at the price he quotes Order a coffee in St Marks, then look at the menu - too late - run away before the waiter brings it - €10? You're having a laugh No beer - it's too expensive. Push past American tourists in ludicrous hats, kagools and ***** packs following a loud, nasal, whiny woman with an umbrella held aloft, giving historical context to the surroundings
Translation: they say, as you already known, that even if they are interested in Watford there are no signs on contracts yet.
Easyjet fly to Ljubljana (just over Slovenian border) which looks just as near as Venice. Might mix this up with a ski trip in the winter.
Venice is beautiful and unique and, yes, very touristic. I will not suggest to spend lots of time there if you do not want to spend a lot, but it is definetely worthwile a visit, trust me! Udine is a small town, not so important as Venice, tough it is very nice, cozy and with nice piazzas, streets and places where to eat good food and drink our good wine. One or two days in Udine are enought to visit and enjoy, but I would definitely reccomend to visit also Cividale del Friuli (15kms eastern than Udine) that is a Unesco place and, in summer, our beaches in Lignano and Grado.
Benvenuto Lorenzo! I went to Venice and Trieste last summer, but not Udine unfortunately. How expensive is Udine? Are there many things to do there? I have distant family in the Novara Province by the way! :italian:
Hello to all our new Italian friends. I wouldn't worry too much about us becoming the senior partner in this relationship as it may take us some time to qualify for the Champions League. As regards to loan players we can only have 5 in the matchday squad at 1 time. Also our work permit system makes it very tough for non-EU players to play here unless they are an established international for a good national side. What we would like is a few (not too many), hungry, quality youngsters who need polishing for the Udine side. Preferably Scandinavian, Northern European or African players as they are likely to be better able to cope with the speed and strength of English football, you do not get too much time on the ball. Anyone else think it's a shame HB1 is married as I think he and monicav would make a lovely couple?
Udine is not so expensive, if you know Trieste it is almost same thing. If you like art and history, Udine is known to be the town where Tiepolo painted some of his masterpieces and there are also some nice churches and museums to visit. We have also our own cuisine that is not pizza and pasta, with dishes that you can find only in our area: cjarsons, frico, brovade e muset, toc in braide are just a few example. Wine is good (especially white wines), but we also have a tradition of beers (Moretti, Castello, Bire were born in Udine).
Sighs! It's 50 miles from Italy and loads of Italians holiday here..so it seemed a valid question to ask
Anyone else think it's a shame HB1 is married as I think he and monicav would make a lovely couple? you read my mind
