    Hi Lorenzo and welcome.

If Watford get to the Premier League then the income generated will be massive. It might be a very good investment.

    Hopefully Watford will get that.
You will see that many new players will arrive to your team and some of them are really good!
But, as I can see in Udine, as soon as a top and rich team (Juventus, Milan, Inter, Napoli in Italy) wants to have him Pozzo sells him. That is the other side of the coin, it is difficult that best players will remain in the team more than 2-3 years.
Pozzos are getting richer and richer, but will one of their teams ever win anything with this system?

If somebody is interested in Udinese's official song, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbNTzhknz0w

Welcome to our new members in Italy!!!!!! Good Morning from the tiny island of Malta, not far away from you :)

This has been the most surreal 24 hours I can ever remember as a Watford fan, with the promise of more to come.

Hello Udinese fans, you are all very friendly.

Watford have spent many years having absolutely no money, usually one of the poorest clubs in the division. It will be strange for us to have some money!

We invest all of the money we do have in our youth - local players who live in Watford, or close to Watford.

I hope that despite the new investment we continue to produce local players. Do Udinese produce many local players?

Udinese have good youth teams, with locals and foreigners players (some of them come to Udine very young and continue to study here).
Up to now, I do not see that any of them has become a starter in the first team and they usually continue their carreers in other teams.

I really would love to know what Pozzo's intentions are. Most people agree that one of the major factors in choosing Watford is for the academy from where they can continue to operate like Udinese and sell on decent youngsters (hopefully we can now command greater fees). It has also been suggested that should Watford be successful, as silly as it may seem, we may then become a parent club to Granada and Udinese as the financial reward in the Premier League is greater than in Serie A/La Liga due to tv rights, sponsorship deals etc. I suppose we just have to see what the future holds but I trust the Pozzo's will make their intentions know fromt he start.

At Watford we have a fantastic academy setup. One of, if not the best in the country. What you have just said is not good.

Bit ambitious to think we'll ever overtake Udinese, especially since they have a fan base twice the size of ours. However I agree that we could easily be the most profitable, given the TV rights and the exorbitant fees Liverpool pay for young English talent!

My only concern is that we lose some of our identity. I hope we don't just become an English shop window for Udinese's young talent.

They can always change, I thought that one of the main reasons for us being taken over was because of our youth set up? If that's the case maybe the Pozzo's are looking at a new direction?

Hi, I'm a tuscan fan of Udinese. Please to meet you.

Recently, Udinese has decided to decrease the ammount of money spent to produce youth players because it realize that it's not convenient. None really strong come out from our youth academy.

Udinese has many young players (less than in the past... now it acquires also some players of 26/27 year old) but they are bought expecially in Africa, South America, Ligue 2, Switzerland and many other markets.

I think that Pozzo could learn something from your youth academy organization, if it is so efficient as you tell.

There's been a worry that we'll just become a feeder club for either udinese or granada, how likely is that?

    Welcome to the forum!

I imagine Pozzo believes that our Academy can be very profitable! We sold Ashley Young to Aston Villa for €12m, and many believe that our young player Sean Murray could be worth a lot of money.

We have had 50 youth team players play in our team since 1998!

You'd be surprised. As previously mentioned we have produced Ashely Young who isn't exactly known for his physical stature. He has heaps of technical ability. The same can be said for another youngster we recently produced and sold in Marvin Sordell who is very gifted technically. Most recently we have had an 18 year old Sean Murray in our first team who is incredibly gifted technically and similarly to Ashley Young lacks physical stature. Sean Murray has the potential to be the best academy product out of all of them. You can find clips of him on youtube if yu are interested.

I think you'll be disillusioned. Pozzo almost never explained what his plans are. And when he say something, often, he does the exact opposite of what he has said.

"We don't need to sell anyone, we want to build a great team for the Champions League".. a week after he sold Asamoah and Isla (two of our best players). He often say something in order to say something else "you have to pay us well if you want our players".

The best thing of his lies is that are said for a purpose that is useful for both (supporters and him). You only have to learn it in order not to feel teased.

That official Udinese song is great. My full time job is playing in a band, I think I might have to write an Udinese/Watford crossover song. Something incorporating the beauty of the italian language and also a possible guest vocalist from South Oxhey.

Having slept on all yesterday's news, my thoughts today are such..

VERY happy to be seeing the end of Bassini's reign..he didn't preside over a disaster on the pitch but seemed to be a PR disaster off it. VERY happy that the people taking over our club are not fly by night chancers as was seen at Portsmouth and Blackburn etc, but genuine sensible football men with a background and pedigree. And VERY happy our debts will be cleared so we can breath again.

    But

CONCERNED over Dyche being kicked out and replaced by Zola. Had we appointed him last summer I'd not have been too dismayed despite his record as the least successful ever permament West Ham manager based on win ratio. But now? When we have a man who knows our club who got us 11th last season? Hmmm.

Concerned too over all the supposition that our way forward will be to get lots of young loanees from Italy etc. Is that how u get out the Championship? You have to win and scrap and get points at places like Barnsley on a cold Tuesday night in winter. Slightly different circumstances I know, but which Championship club last season went down the route of packing their side with highly=paid loan players thanks to a deal between their owner and an agent?

I'd love this takeover to happen..but for Dyche to stay on and be given a couple of million to spend on quality signings to go alongside the Murrays and Mariappas that we already have. Why start again from scratch if it ainb't broke?

It won't just be Italians. The Pozzo's, or Udinese, have a vast scouting network.

We are worry too that Granada and Watford are only expensive waste of Udinese's money. I don't already know which are the real plans of this investments but I think that this deal (as like the one with Granada) is great, and in some way ingenuos, for some reasons:
    - the cost of scouting (near 10 millions dollars a year) that Udinese spent in finding new talents around the world would be spread in three
    - Udinese now has the possibilities to bought many more not-Eu players: 2 in Italy by Udinese, 3+africans (that are not considered not-EU in Spain) in Spain bu Granada and some others (how many?) in England by Watford.
    - he has the possibility to buy more players, to let more of them play, producing more incomes from more sales.
    - the possibility to buy every talented player that Udinese thinks could improve without taking too in consideration his charatteristics: if italian serie A doesn't suites him he can be loan (or sell) to Granada, if spanish Liga doesn't suites him he can be loan to Watford. Three very different leagues.
    - Now the teams have very different ambition: Granada is managing to maintain in Liga, Watford to be promoted in Premier League, Udinese... we don't know . So, some players that can't be useful for Udinese (because they are too young and unexperienced) can be useful for Watford.
    - I think that in sharing different points of view (football, life, everything in general) makes the best things.

So, I don't understand what they (we better say "he"... Gino Pozzo) are doing but I want to be optimistic.

It would be very nice to see Watford's supporters in Udine for some European League / Serie A matches! Hope to see you here sometime! And viceversa!
And so we will be able to sing all together for our teams! :)

Totally agree with this mate, and your thoughts are very similar to my own. The one thing I would say is that the Pozzo family will do it their way, but their goal is to bring huge success to the club. Huge success, brings huge rewards and this is their ambition.

They are not going to put in place something worse to ensure success is avoided. From what I've heard and the research I've done, I believe they can be trusted to do the right thing with the club.

You won't have a greater Non-EU quota, as English immigration laws are very strict. We can't sign a player from outside the EU unless he is an established international player. So you won't be able to loan any non-eu players to us

I believe the Pozzo's are investing in England because they realise there is a fortune to be made in the Premier League. You usually earn £90m from promotion to this league. Watford are an established Championship club, with relatively small debt. In the right hands it will be easy to see where big money can be made. Ok, the start up costs for this project will be high in season 1, but after that there should be a big turnaround when the club begins to generate big income.

If you have a huge pool of players to choose from then this will keep transfer fees to a minimum. It is a unique profile in football, but I can see huge benefits to this.

For Watford fans, this is a very exciting development, but I can understand Udinese supporter's concerns. This could signify a change of emphasis from Italian football to English. The Premier League is where the money is, but it also takes a lot of finance to remain in that league, which could be a drain on Udinese.

Cautious progression is the best route for the club, as we've seen two bodged attempts at big spending go horribly wrong in the last 10 years.

I think I'll feel a lot more positive about this whole thing if Dyche is allowed to continue the good work he's done for us. Granada have kept management Spanish throughout the last few years by the looks of things - so hopefully Pozzo sees that we're better off having a manager that knows the division we're in. I would imagine that Zola would cost us a fair amount as well!

I can't imagine an organization like Udinese (small salaries, good players bought at 2 millions euro...) without non-EU players: EU players costs a lot more. I have read that in Spain (Granada) a non-EU player take a little time to be considered EU. Maybe

Udinese buy a non-EU ---> sell to Granada --> In some months he will be become a EU player --> Granada sell to Watford.

I can't imagine how Watford could work, if Udinese won't be able to loan (or sell) it his non-EU players

Big clubs in England like Man Utd and Arsenal have always found our immigration laws very annoying, as they aren't able to buy young African and South American players. Man Utd used to own Antwerp so they could loan Non-EU players there until they received a Belgian passport

This is why you see such big transfers fees in the Premier League, because teams can't buy cheap non-EU players like in Spain and Italy.

Pozzo's interest in Watford probably isn't related to Udinese. They probably just want to use our youth academy to produce young players that they can sell for a big profit.

Udinese has low salaries compared to other Serie A teams, but they are not so cheap as a whole.
Di Natale has the highiest wage and he gets 1.200.000 euros/year.
Guidolin, the trainer, has a good salary in Serie A: 800.000 euros/year.
